Spike TV announces VGA Nominees
Posts
Every nobody is somebody's somebody even if they are somebody to nobody.
ps: Nobody.
edit: somebody cares. "marketing bullshit" means sales. more sales means hey, let's make more of game-type X. more of game-type X means less of game-type Y in many cases... because somebody likes making money and nobody likes to lose it if they can avoid it. I like games of all types. nobody likes to play just one type of game all the time. well, somebody does, but still.
I like game Y a lot, wish there were more. Game X is good, but flawed. There are 5 Game X's and 1 Game Y.
I bought a game X and a game Y. Why isn't there more Y's?
Where do we go?
It's such flagrant bullshit that I can't believe anyone's trying to defend it based on the merits of individual games at all.
Yes. This is what I was trying to say earlier, just without taking the time to actually say it.
Anyone want to take bets on whether or not this same argument will be made next year?
Water is wet. The sky is blue. SpikeTV's VGA show sucks. People on the internets like to bitch about lists involving their favourite hobbies.
Go figure...
Do not engage the Watermelons.
There. Thread done.
Also, all award shows are popularity contests. It's just a matter of selecting the crowd from which you're choosing from.
I'm also not getting paid for my choice.
*shakes fist like an angry old man*
:^:
I ask again, how different does everyone expect the other goty lists to be? Because I have no doubt that any game other than FO3, GoW2, or GTA4 will goty anywhere. Maybe LBP if they feel edgy
Look a grammar douchebag... there should be a spot on spike awards for people like this. The people that make other people not want to post in a otherwise great community. Dick.
the nominees will all probably be out when the lists are announced, that's a pretty major difference
I'd argue that one of the requirements of a great community is the ability of its members to speak coherently.
It's not his fault you're too dumb to competently string a few words together.
edit: the right thing to do here is humbly learn from your mistake - not to throw a tantrum because somebody knows better than you do.
FIRST PRIORITY: Anything related to a Viacom-owned company will win its category. So Rock Band and Harmonix are locks.
SECOND PRIORITY: Every remaining award is won by the game with the release date closest to the awards ceremony. (Except for obvious field-fillers. Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit isn't winning squat no matter when it's released. Don't know when it was released, but it ain't gonna win.)
THIRD PRIORITY: The game that has spent more money on advertisement will win.
Two examples. In Best Action Adventure, the release dates are as follows:
Grand Theft Auto IV- April 29
Dead Space- October 14
Mirror's Edge- November 12
Metal Gear Solid 4- June 12
Mirror's Edge will win this category.
For Game of the Year:
Grand Theft Auto IV- April 29
LittleBigPlanet- October 27
Fallout 3- October 28
Metal Gear Solid 4- June 12
Gears of War 2- November 7
Gears of War 2 will win GOTY.
For the sake of being pedantic, I'm going to guess that neither Peewi nor jclast is a linguist. Is this the case?
Both of you should check out American Tongue and Cheek , which is a look at common American usage of phrases that are considered "incorrect" by pop and prescriptive grammarians. Basically, "I could care less" is perfectly grammatical and means the same thing as "I couldn't care less." Take a linguistics course and learn a few things about language before you make yourselves look silly.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
So are you saying that you "couldn't" care less about this argument...or that you "could" care less about this argument?
Yes.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
What other games are we still waiting for? PoP, what else?
If anyone wants to borrow my time machine to play this game, it'll cost $40 for a one-way trip.
Disappointed, though, to see that games that have been out for no more than a month are on the lists. I thought there was supposed to be a cut-off date for award shows?
This roommate spent the entire day playing Gears of War 2. Go figure.
