Aren't you still in school though? I'm already done and on to my boring 9-5 job.
Eh, no. Right now I'm gainfully unemployed wondering what the heck went wrong the past 5 years or so and what the fuck I'm supposed to do now. Or something like that anyway.
Then we can both feel bad at being old 25-year-old fogeys, Lly.
Oh i misread your post. thought you were still 23. Then you must already know ... life begins at 25!
I wish. I so miss university's worry free party atmosphere. Working sucks and having to rent sucks and fortunately alcohol exists to make it all seem ok!
I did the "Are you old?" checklist earlier and it's looking pretty grim for me.

university's worry free party atmosphere?!
hmmm... I remember no such thing.
Maybe that's 'cause I was CS though. Maybe other majors got to party?
How good is Tool and why? I need a 500-word essay on this because not a single Tool fan I have met cared enough about them to explain to me why I should like them.
not a big fan of 10,000 Days. And Lateralus was pretty good.
The first three are awesome. I miss Tool albums you could scream and yell too.
Jimmy is the coolest song.
Seriously.
I associate Tool with Berserk, because whenever I read the Berserk Manga, I would listen to copious amounts of Tool. I don't believe you can comprehend how well the two go together unless you are yelling along with Eulogy and then Griffith shows up on the page. It's like magic.

You should like them because I said so. (the last two albums you can decide for yourself though)

Yea, that's what I usually get. See, I fight vehemently to obtain converts for the bands I like and assume others would do the same.
I saw them at the beginning of last month. The concert going crowd sucks now. They don't care who they're seeing, so long as it's loud, dark, and can fill the stadium with pot smoke.
I've liked Tool since I was in middle school though. It's different than metal, which I can't stand. It's like indutrial with actual melodies and meanings behind their songs.
The best thing you can do to convert someone is just make them listen to it. Music is a personal thing. There's no way to intelligently tell someone what they should listen to.
I hate it when people try and tell me why I should like something. Let me hear it and I'll like it or I won't.
Hence I don't like giving long explanations. Its a waste of time really.
You know, I didn't like the 10,000 Days album all that much at first either, but the more I thought about it, and the more I listend to it, the more I loved it.
It's supposed to be for Maynard's mother who for about 10,000 days was paralyzed due to a stroke before she died (recently). I also found out that the A Perfect Circle song Judith was about her too (from Mer de Noms).
I like the fact that Tool can be so flexible in their music and differentiate their albums so well--even if they tend to favor minor scales almost a little too often (making most of their songs have the same color).
Even when you just look at their music from a Music Theory standpoint it's very interesting. They use many meters that are a-typical of many rock/metal/grind/whateverelse groups. They also like to play interesting counter rythms which you don't find in many other things than classical music. Such as a 3 on 2 counter rythm. It's also interesting that they use different modes within a song (chaging from Dorian to say Phrygian).
ANYWAY, Tool rocks, and I got to see them just a couple of months ago.
...Some one hit Maynard in the head with a water bottle though....
See, I'm the opposite. I look like I'm about 23 or so, so people take me too seriously.
ARGH, I hate when I get people asking if I'm my mom's sister-in-law (I'm part mexican, so I don't exactly look a lot like her). Or when people ask me how old my daughter is (who is really my 6 year old sister).

and franky baby! you dirty boy  stop ... stop looking at me!
Although judging by the look of my house windows, those could use some maintenance too.
Well done my boy!
I'm not your boy!
Well... not right now, at least.
At least I don't know anything about it.
Am I?
don't worry. it's a term of endearment we humans use. I guess it hasn't spread to the green goblin language yet. Give it time.
Thought I was a pregnant woman there for a while

Bravo sir. You raised my hopes, then dashed them quite expertly.
And then I believed you were 28...
I'm losin it.
You are still very young. We are all very young. VERY young.
In other news: Tool is fucking awesomeomeome.

Yet another disappointment.
