I can play MMO's sans addiction. I actually like doing the quests. It is a zen type thing for me. It takes my mind off of things for awhile, but I hardly ever NEED to log on, get more lewt and more gold.

    I just enjoy the experience.

Things like Tiger Woods, Skate, GTA and especially Spider-man do this for me. For some reason it's just relaxing to go swing or drive or skate around a city. I normally listen to podcasts or something while doing so.

what if there was a Megaman Legends-based MMO

    that might be pretty cool

    That would be cool if:
A)The focus was on exploring the various tunnels
    B)It had similiar gameplay

But most likely, it would be "Go over there and kill twenty reaverbots."

I've played WoW since BC came out. I find it fun. I'm okay with that.

I tried to play D&D once. My friend helped me set up a dwarf character, which took two hours. Immediately after starting, I was arrested by the town guard. Seems I hadn't been told that in addition to spending my starting money on weaponry and equipment, I also needed to spend it on clothing, which I neglected to do.

And so my D & D experience was cut short, my character arrested for public nudity.

That just sounds like poor DMing to me.
this is the kind of dm that likes to kill players rather than have a fun game.

Especially since any DM who isn't a worthless fuck will let you just START the game with a normal pair of clothing, seeing as normal clothes don't grant any stat bonuses.

Yeah, the character you make does not just fall from the sky when you make him. Of course he has some clothes. Only a stupid DM does something like that to a new player.

I do not know why our D&D group here has not gotten around to playing recently, since I don't think any of us play WoW.

I mean, last session I jumped out a window and clocked a wererat with a gnome in mid-leap. I miss that. I might be DM for a different group soon, which should work out terribly.

Hold up. So you were playing a gnome, and you clocked a wererat? Or you were a normal sized person who clocked a wererat with a gnome? Because one of these situations is way more awesome than the other.

    Either stupid or openly sadistic

Not to say that either of these are positive traits that DMs should have, just saying...

Generally the best place to play a game you aren't familiar with is at a game store, with one of the employees as the GM. Because they will be working their hardest to keep the game fun for everyone so that you keep coming back to spend money there.

One of my favorite parts about Star Wars is how robot personalities are neither planned for or wanted
They're just the natural result of having to have robots advanced enough to perform the tasks their makers want
