It was kind of a dumb death, but I still really liked his final monologue. Plus, the death of Illyana, which I also thought was pretty well written, provided a good lead up to, and justification for, Piotr's death.

For several years they'd been piling the angst on Peter with no let-up (and, to be honest, no point). His parents were killed, his brother came back and was crazy and then died (two or three times, actually), Illyana died, he grew disillusioned and joined up with Magneto (while he was in one of his crazier moments) and the Acolytes and etc, etc. He'd just become so utterly angsted-out that they didn't know what to do with him. And then they needed to get rid of the Legacy Virus in a hurry and hey presto kill two birds with one stone.

He had a great resurrection scene, though, so it wasn't all bad.

EDIT: I liked the way they did Illyana's death, though. That was one of Lobdell's better issues.

My wife plowed through all of V for Vendetta last sunday and is hungry for more Alan Moore.

    Thus far she has read:

    Watchmen
    Lost Girls
    V for Vendetta

And "From Hell" is on the way. What other stuff would you reccomend of his as solid stories? She's not really a comic fan, per se, she's moreso just a big fan of rape... err uhh... Alan Moore (who seems to enjoy rape based on the above titles). I hear good hings about Swamp Thing, but is that more episodic or is it one continuous story?

Swamp Thing and League of Extraordinary Gentlmen should be to her liking, assuming she doesn't have some kind of prejudice against swamp monsters. If so, kindly inform her that the greatest monster of all is bigotry.

D.R. & Quinch is incredibly funny if you can find it. Ballad of Halo Jones is also great if you want a serious story.

The Alan Moore Top 10 Series is really good. It's more police-procedural than comic booky (despite the fact that all the characters are super heroes). And if it is not the right fit, you should read it, because its awesome.

She'll probably like The Killing Joke.

Identity Crisis could be a gateway to non-Moore comics for her, what with rape being the entire basis for the series.

But the ending is so, so, so dumb, it would make her just quit reading comics altogether.

Give her Fables trades. If she doesn't like the series by March of the Wooden Soldiers, there's something wrong with her.

Vaughn Runaways? A resounding yes. Whedon Runaways? A little flawed at some points, and there were delays (but that doesn't affect you!) but still a yes in my book. Moore Runaways? Not a big fan. But he's off the book soon, to replaced by Yost and Kyle. I think.

Yeah, I read all of Y the last man and believe that and preacher are right up her alley. Maybe preacher a little less so. She's religious, but not so much that she's cool with all of Moore's banter, but preacher is... taking blaspheming to an art. I described it to her and she liked the concepts, we'll see.

Swamp Thing is great and is just starting to be released in new, nicer editions. And though it's not quite the same sort of work as any of what she's read so far, Promethea is perhaps my favorite of all of Alan Moore's stuff. Though, they're releasing that in Absolute editions starting this fall, so maybe wait on that.

Whatever happened to that artist who used to work for DC and didn't use lines? He did Uncle Sam & the Freedom Fighters, some Green Lantern and some Flash. I know a lot of people don't like his art, but it's an interesting contrast.

    Daniel Acuna?

He is a Marvel exclusive, and was working on Eternals. I think he's off the book now because it's tanking so badly, and he did the Uncanny X-Men Annual #2 a month or two ago.

His art's good, people just bitched at him on the Flash because they didn't like Wally's kids and therefore hated everything about the book.
