Well, sort of. He now calls himself anti-Venom. Purges toxins out of people and apparently has been shown to affect Spider-Man's powers. But he's like super evangelical now and won't partake in any sort of killing.

Brock was always religious, the Symbiote really just wouldn't let him express it. It was in more control than he was.
How did Slott's run on She-Hulk end? I have the first trade, and just reread it and it was really good. I know that she ended up being a bounty hunter, but I'm curious why, and more importantly, if Pug ever made a move.
And the art for the first couple of issues is so good. Kinda cartoony and light. Was dissapointed when a new artist stepped in.
The bounty hunter stuff was post-Slott. I enjoyed Slott's run, although it started stronger than it finished. The issue where she defends Hercules is pure solid gold.

Yeah, Slott's She-Hulk run kind of ran out of steam around the galactic trial of Starfox. He did try and fix all continuity errors in the Marvel U at the time with his last issue though, that was admirable.

I remember reading/hearing of that. Something like people from an alternate earth with no powers would drop by cause they would have powers here or something? I think that's how they fixed the Juggy/She-Hulk thing.
As someone who's read Annihilation but not Secret Invasion: following these titles, are the Skrulls effectively extinct?
There's probably a planet or two that will pop up in the future. Along with assorted refugees. They are definitely no longer a significant force, though. Also, I think SuperSkrull is still alive.
They were in the SI Aftermath Beta Ray Bill one-shot. Some of them are worshipping Bill as their new god. Others are trying to enforce religious purity in some kind of twisted analogy of I suspect contemporary Islam (especially based on some comments Bendis made during SI). So yeah, they're out there, but in greatly reduced numbers and with no real home planet of their own and living in a universe where a lot, perhaps even most, of the other species and empires hate them and/or want them dead. Basically, they're Space Roma.

So we're going to come full circle with Skrull Magneto? Great.

Skrull Wanda maybe. But a Skrull Magneto would require them to be Space Jews.
Is Warren Ellis [et al]'s Gravel stuff good? Where would one begin?

Depends what you are looking for. If you seek a character driven, plot intensive work, this isnt it. If you want a badass, asshole protagonist killing hordes of enemies with magic and guns, in most ultraviolent manner possible, then you will really like it.
The new series is a pretty good jumping point (there is a TPB just released collecting the first arc), but really, you could start with any other miniseries that were released so far, as there isnt really any ongoing plots going on. I think all the miniseries published before the new ongoing series started, were collected into a fancy omnibus called.... "Strange..." something or other...
So if you are looking for excitement and ultraviolence, this is it. If anything more than that, stay away.

I'm looking for info regarding a crossover event with two of the early 90's staples for bad comics: Youngblood and Prophet.
Back in the day, before I knew any better, I fucking LOVED Prophet. It was a comic started by Rob Liefeld whose title character was a giant Native American guy named John Prophet whose powers were essentially copied from X-Force's Warpath. That, and he had black markings on his face similar to Eric Draven. Prophet was teamed with a tiny, cigar-smoking, wise-cracking partner named Jack Kirby. I wish I was making this up.
IIRC, Prophet's story was an unintelligible mix of genetic engineering and time travel. Prophet was created in the present or future, but was repeatedly sent back in time to fight in history's largest or bloodiest wars. Why? For some generic nefarious government plot.
Anyhoo, Prophet was involved in a crossover event with Youngblood that involved hell invading earth, or something like that. I think it had to do with Image splitting up, and various continuities going their separate ways (like Wildstorm). I only remember that the Youngblood guy who killed his teammate was in it, and an alternate version of Prophet was revealed to be the herald of hell.
I'd like to get info (and images, if possible) regarding the alternate version of Prophet. I remember thinking that his character design was cool, especially before he was unmasked, and am curious to see it now that I'm not a 15 year old with bad taste. I also figure it'd be fun to see the trainwreck Liefeld and his cohorts unleashed upon the world without any real editorial supervision. I've tried several Google searches already, but couldn't find anything.
I could've sworn Prophet was done by someone other than Liefeld.
The original 4-issue miniseries was Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza. Stephen Platt, a student/follower/whatever of Liefeld's, took over the pencils for the ongoing series after a few issues, and I'm unsure who took over for the writing. I do remember them trying to shoehorn some sort of lame romance angle between Prophet and one of the girls of Gen13, or another one of Image's titles.
I'm amazed at how little information about Prophet is online. I mean, the ongoing did have 15-25 issues before it was canceled (not that they were good, mind you). Platt was pretty funny as an artist. He actually out-Liefeld-ed Liefeld. Not only did Platt's characters have a plethora of pouches, swords, and firearms with multiple oblong barrels, but his strong male characters had a ton of veins on their arms. Prophet looked like a mix of Conan and The Incredible Hulk, only on steroids. His character's poses weren't quite as physics defying, though.
Interestingly, I have found some of Platt's more recent work. His comic stuff still has elements of Liefeld's style to it (especially the faces), but he's toned down some of the more laughable aspects of it. He's actually a storyboard artist for movies now. He worked on Iron Man.
Fake EDIT: Here's an example of the veins:
And I just found out that the crossover event was called EXTREME Sacrifice. Man, the 90's were so, so awful.
I have every issue of Prophet and I remember what you're talking about specifically. I'll see if I can find them when I go to my folk's house next and scan the issue in question.
Regarding Stephen Platt he was more of a Todd McFarland follower than Liefeld. I remember when he was coming onto the scene he was always billed as "the next Todd Mcfarland".
Does anyone have the marvel digital comic service? How good is it?
I know they don't put up brand new comics, but I'm curious of whether they put up arcs. Like, in a preview I saw they had Ultimate Spiderman 122 coming out for this month. But then they also have issue 33 coming out later this month.
Professor Snugglesworth has told me quite a bit about this forum, so I decided to join.
My name is DarkChildx2k and I am the guy in charge of the FFVII comic series! We'll keep you updated with regards to what will be happening step for step, as we plan to make the project as a "Making of FFVII Exegesis: Comic Series". We will upload and update images and news on the comic series all the way through to the release of the first comic.
I am friends with most of the UDON crew, and I have known them since their days at Dreamwave. I met Arnold Tsang by coincidently calling him about something with Dreamwave, and we were also once living down the street from each other. Some other ppl I worked with were hired by UDON as well and Erik Ko knew of me for a while through word of mouth and that's how we met. UDON is a great company with some amazing talent behind it. The possibility of them being able to license Final Fantasy VII as a comic series may be slim, no matter who I am. However, the most important thing is that they get a glimpse of our work and understand what capabilities we have as individuals and as a group. I know very well what UDON likes and looks for in work as told directly to me by Erik, Omar Dogan, and Jim Z.
A dream could become a reality, on either side of the spectrum. It is still a dream for me to be able to work on FFVII as a comic, as for those who dreamed to be able to read their favorite game in comic form.
Are you site whoring? Joining the boards just to peddle your wares?
Did anyone get League? My store didn't receive any copies and told me it actually comes out next week.
No, he's just on the wrong part of the forum
The FF7 thread is in Games and Technology. Snugglesworth has been posting there, but the thread is a couple pages back. If you search for it, you should probably find it. Or you and Snugglesworth could make a new thread, but it would probably fit best in G&T

It's not that I care, per se, it's just now it's easier to confuse her with Medusa.
It's in her hair; the latest series have all shown that pretty explicitly.

I'm detecting a trend in Ellis' recent works...
