Will someone please post the Uncle Sam duck poster? Unfortunately most of the people I've run into don't understand this concept so I need it in convenient spray format.
Has anyone else had the tanks at the finale just... disappear?
Was playing No Mercy yesterday with some friends, when the tank ran around a corner and we never saw it again. We just sort of stood there in mild amazement when the helicopter showed up.
It might have bugged out and jumped off the roof. One time I had a tank spawn in the elevator shaft of the finale of No Mercy, and he proceeded to run right over the railing and down the shaft.

Every once in a while the tank AI just doesn't do something right. Such as run off a building, or get stuck on a train and die.

It happens, not so commonly, but it does.
Considering the insane amount of variables in this game, I am surpised I don't see more wacky spawns.
We had a tank despawn in the demo. We pegged it all the way back to the safe room and it just... vanished.
Also in vs. I got spawned as a tank in the sewer. Which was cool... except the survivors hadn't jumped down yet so I couldn't reach them.
there's a pipe to get up
Where? I know there's the cross-pipe that they land on, but the tank can't climb it. Nor were there climb decals.. well.. anywhere.
from what I recall, it's to the "left" of it. I know that's vague, but it's there. I got spawned in the sewer, same thing, but lost control anyway since I was so far away.
Has anyone encountered graphical glitches with this game? I notice when theirs a ridiculous amount of zombies, like on the hospital roof, everytime I fire it causes my screen to wig out with lines appearing everywhere.

a couple times the game's graphics have gone totally fucking haywire on me, missing textures everywhere and black blocks all over the place instead of effects and other weirdness. the first time this happened it crashed L4D, the second time it crashed my whole cpu and i had to hard reboot.
Man. Four dudes hiding in the closet in No Mercy is the only sane way to beat the roof on expert.
And on that note, I just got my Zombicidal Maniac achievement. Two of us were left after beating the first tank. We ran to the closet, spammed zombies, and made it to the second. Set him on fire, ran around, nabbed some pipe bombs, and my parter got smoker'd. I ran over and freed him and we kept on fighting. We ran around to the base of the helipad ramp where he got incapacitated so I ran up and emptied my autoshotty into the tank. He falls, and the zombie horde arrives. I threw a pipe bomb and ran and jumped into the heli. Bye Zoey! I'll miss you!
We tried it this way several times, and just got bent over by the AI. I think that the AI can tell when you hunker down and camp, and adjusts its spawns to rape your face. We played the no mercy finale about 8 times without success, trying different strategies. We tried holding the closet several times, and the AI just threw boomers and hordes at us until our ammo gave out. Then the tank showed up.
Camping a closet works well against smokers and hunters, but unless you are sitting on an ammo pile hordes will overwhelm you. And forget about fighting a tank in a closed space like that. Maybe if all 4 people had auto-shotties you could down the tank before he wipes your party.
That was the take home lesson I learned last night. Our best run was when we held the stairway in the radio building. Two people covered the door at the top, 2 covered the stairs. When the tanks spawn, move out and fight in the open and utilize your gas cans, molotovs, and propane tanks. We had 2 guys alive when the chopper came. And no zombies in sight. The me and the other dead guy were like "Fuck yes, you're clear! RUN!" They hit the ramp to the helipad and BAM, smoker + hunter. At the same time. From opposite directions. We called it a night after that. The AI had broken our spirit. Anyone who says the AI in this game is bad is plain wrong. It's so good its fucking scary.
so we changed to advanced and then no one died and it became too easy instead
This is where we're at right now. On expert, it'll take us three-four hours to reach the fourth map, and the moment we switch to advanced (due to frustration) it's home free without any wipes if noone happens to put a pb-slug in a teammate.
Yes, I get a similar effect during the big finales. No lines on the screen, but my fps slows to a crawl all of a sudden and the screen starts ghosting. In my case its definitely overheating. My ghetto solution is opening the case and putting a floor fan right next to it. Seems to work ok.
Actually in responce to graphics errors, might not be overheating. Dry defraging and verifying the game cache. Then try again. Or do a whole re-install of it.

Exactly.
You should be camping in the sheds instead.

I had the black blocks appear as well; I opened my case and cleaned the 18+ months of dust out of my GPU fan.
GPU temperature dropped 20 degrees Centigrade, and I haven't had the problem since.
Dispatch from the Bad Ideas for Game Balance Department:
Smokers should have a special ability made available for a few seconds after taking damage. They may release a smoke cloud and emit a message claiming that they have died, while still alive. Feigning death in this manner cancels any tongue-hold they may have established.

No worries about the Expert mode trouble last night, Icemopper. I'm no expert, and I know for a fact that I put several members of our team on their backs by mistake (:winky:).

Same. Toward the end of the night, I hit two of our guys in the back in a row. Granted, they ran in front of my fire, but it was still my mistake.
There was one where I just thought the dude was a stray zombie, and shot, that was entirely my fault.
I need rest and no more school before I can do well in this again.
Regarding melee 'mods' and servers:
It's not a mod. Currently, it's on if you're playing versus on a dedicated server, but off if you're playing versus on a listen server. Most likely a bug, and most likely, after the next patch, it will be enabled on both types of servers. The dedicated server is simply running newer code than the client is, code where Valve added the melee stamina thing.

Open console with ~ and type the following line:
Bind x "explode"
where x can be any key, but should be something near WASD for obvious reasons.
Just thought I'd let you guys know in advance.
But not too close, like RIGHT BESIDE YOUR PTT KEY, Butterfly.
Is there a way to bind a combined keypress in the console? Like Alt + 1?

I've always seen three tanks on Normal, even, on each finale

I think that is the right code >_>
The only spray I've imported was one converted in TF2 that I copied over, maybe try that.

What's this melee mod?
