If I sell my Wii, should i leave my Virtual Console and WiiWare Titles on it?

I've finally decided to sell my Wii. I was thinking 300 dollars for the system, Wiimote+ nunchuck, Two games, and a retro remote.

however, i have about 70 dollars worth of DLC on there in the form of VC titles and Wiiware titles. So i was instead thinking of just leaving those on there and asking for $350

Is there any reason i shouldn't do this? should i just wipe the entire hard drive clean?

How were you thinking of selling it? If you're not in a huge hurry and you're putting up an ad on craigslist or something, try offering it for $350 with the extra games and stuff. If it doesn't sell, try again for $300 and just ask your buyer if they want to pay a bit extra for your stuff. Might as well see if you can get some money for what you already paid for, right?

Nintendo offically says you are suppose to delete any and all Wiiware/VC games you have downloaded before selling your system. Will it really matter? probably not, but keep that in mind.

Add 35 (half the value of the titles) to your 300 for $335. That's a great deal with everything else, it'll sell fast.

Either way, it's not like Nintendo is likely to come after you.

    Or.... ARE THEY?

As far as I am concerned you paid for those VC games and they are yours to do what you like just as any hard copy game. Saying you should delete them is BS...

Does Nintendo allow you to tie a credit/debit card to the machine like Microsoft does with the 360? If that's the case, you might want to cancel it.

No, they make you type it in every time. Good thing I have my credit card number memorized!

The legitimacy of the EULA in hard legal terms is extremely debatable. I don't think they'd likely spend the money necessary to test it in court.

It certainly wouldn't make me hesitate to include VC titles when selling a console.

And even if you can't more cash for the titles, I'd just leave them on there anyway. It might make someone's day when they happen to be looking through the menu and find a stash of VC games.

One thing that I think is worth noting: I believe the VC and WiiWare games are tied to the "account" that's registered on the Wii. So they'd have to keep using the name you gave yourself when you first got the console, if they want to keep playing those downloadable games. I don't know how easy it is to change that name, or if games can be transferred to another account, or what, but you should know that, just in case.

Especially if you've added some friends on the console.
