If theres an option to install to the HDD with the PS3 version and 360 version then I imagine its literally a case of ust inserting the disc in the tray and everything else is read from the HDD, it cant be that big of a game.

They could do a code much like the RB2 bonus track downloads, which I believe is ID locked. I think that would work quite well and would also cut down on used game resale as one of the reasons to own a new copy would be the ability to download the games onto the HD.

That seems really smart until you realise how many used copies would actually be in stores after people bought it new, took the code out, and traded it right back in again.

Well yeah, if you're going to be all smart and logical about it.

Speaking of which, is Lost and Damned going to be released online and in hard form? I knwo its not for PS3 but its confusing me that my store is taking pre-orders for something I was 100% sure was a downloadable add-on.

You can buy it, but there is no disc or anything in it. It is basically just the code to download it.

The way I read it, it's a download, but the retailers were pissed off at being left out so it's a code in a box as well, to placate them.

I guess they could just sell a code in a box. But then it might as well just be a download.
Hell no. I don't need more things taking up space on my HD.
Pfft. Hard drives are cheap these days. I got a 320GB for just over $100 CAN.

They should just release it on the PSN and XBL and include an option to split the download up into its component games if you so choose so you can access the individual games from the XMB.

When John Diamonon of Capcom made that comment about more PS One classics coming to the Store, I apparently missed this tidbit when he replied to someone who commented on the blog:

This is completely not what you were pointing out, but I find that "Flock" video oddly interesting. Anyone know anything about that game?
And I have a question about my controller. I had a bit of a scare earlier, because I thought my controller was dead, since I hit the PS button and not only did the PS3 not turn on, the lights only flashed a couple times before going out. I tried again, same thing. So I turned it on manually (Ew, I hate doing that, because of fingerprints) and tried to connect, and it couldn't find the PS3 even though it was right next to it. When I USB connected it, it found it after a bit of tweaking.
So I played Resistance 2 and everything was normal, and then I turned the console off. Then, curious, I tried the PS button again, and bam. Turned the PS3 on, no problem, everything was peachy.
My question would be; you guys think my controller is on the way out, or that this was just a weird miscommunication between the two products? I have wanted to upgrade from the normal Sixaxis to a DS3, but...preferably under better circumstances.
The best circumstances for switching from Sixaxis to Dual Shock 3 are:
- Purchasing a Dual Shock 3.
- Drive to the beach; dependent on location, this may take a while
- Dramatically hurl your Sixaxis into the ocean. It's cheap and lightweight, but just heavy enough to really go a long distance.
The exact same thing happened to me yesterday. I was playing Sly 2, and I think what triggered it is that as I quit the game I didn't look at the screen, I looked at my controller and pressed the PS button to turn the controller back on (it shuts off when you enter/exit a PS2 title and you have to turn it back on) as soon as its lights went out. When I looked back at my PS3 feed, the screen wasn't blank, it was a clealry frozen dark-black screen, and the controller lights were all-4 flashing.
So I hit the manual reset - the blue/green glowing bit - and nothing. So I had to physically hit the power. That part's scary. I'm always worried it'll never come back afterwards.
Then I hit the controller's PS button again - and again, nothing. Then I hit the blue/green button on the PS3 and it starts up.
Just like you, my controller wouldn't synch with the PS3 until I hooked it up with a USB.
I dunno why, I dunno how - exiting Sly 2 hasn't fucked up since.

Why the hell not? I will play them through to completion.
Plus it will be nice to own all three of them. I only own the disc version of RE2 Dual Shock (but I will still totally buy the digital version anyway).
Chance: Huh. Yeah, I've had my PS3 freeze on my a couple times (For Oblivion and once on Assassin's Creed, Pre-Patch) and I've found that pushing and holding against the Manual power (where the Blue/Green lights are) for a minute or so makes it beep a few times, and then it turns off. I'm pretty sure that's the thing to do if it freezes. (I hope, at least. I haven't had many issues with it as far as that goes.)
That we have the same issue is a little strange, but makes me want to rule them off as simply performance hiccups. Has the controller synching been fine since, and it was just that one time?

Don't get me wrong, I would love to play them all the way through. It's just that I have ADHD when it comes to finishing games and I know that the Resident Evil series will likely fall prey to the disorder as I've already played all three of them through before.

I hope one day Sony will have a little kiosk in Best Buy or something, you can go online to the Sony Store and checkmark all the PSN titles that are really important to you - and the store gives you a code.
You go in-store to the kiosk and type in the code, the kiosk charges you like, $20 for the disc or whatever, and you get all the PSN titles you adore on a hard copy.

My Sixaxis has done this a few times too, but they are usually fixed by plugging it into USB. I've noted that it does only have this problem after the PS3 crashes though, which isn't often thankfully
Hey, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm finding it tough to search for 'ps2' 'ps3' and or 'lcd' and google didn't provide an answer...
But I'm currently without a decent TV and I have my PS3 hooked up to my lcd monitor via hdmi. PS3/PSN stuff looks great on it, but ps2 games all look blurry as hell. I tried playing with different combinations of the full screen/smoothing etc settings to no avail. Is there a way to get ps2 games to look...not horrible?
Also, how do PS2 games look on proper HDTV's? I'm looking at getting a plasma or lcd so just wondering if I should even bother lugging my ps2 games around with me anymore.
On a proper HDTV, they still look terrible, but, look for a Progressive scan option which will make it look very very much better. Though, they will still look best on a CRT TV over a LCD. (This based on a 32 inch LCD)
I didn't like the Remake much, never got too far in to it. I should give it another go at some point (but I know I never will, I can't keep up with the volume of games I have at the moment!)
The REmake is pretty much the quintessential example of how to do a good remake. The original RE is has nostalgia value, and a more Kubrickian art style if you like that sort of thing, but the newer version is superior in almost every conceivable way. Actually, if you want to play the original, get the DS version. It's pretty much the perfect venue for it.

Also, I prefer the original to the remake, but only because of the GC controller. It's the only game where I don't find it ideal.
See, perfect example right there. I bought REmake for $20 when I had my Wii and only played it up to the first save point. Never fired it up again after that. And I should add that I spent every waking moment playing REmake when it fist came out on the GC. Loved every second of it.
Many games that deserved loads of attention have fallen prey to my game ADHD. Only Rock Band and Oblivion seem to be immune.

For weeks and months my fear that I'd never have a copy of MGS 3: Subsistence for my very own has been gnawing at me. Sure, I got the version that came with The Essentials Collection last spring, but the original Subsistence release had 2 discs - and on the 2nd are ports of the MSX versions of the original Metal Gear (newly translated) and Metal Gear 2 (never released in the west). I knew if I didn't track it down soon, it would either be gone forever, or only available at a prohibitively high price.
So I did some calling a few weeks ago and finally got my hands on a copy for $40.00. God, I hate the stickers stores put on their games.
Anyway, I bring it home, totally ready for some nostalgia. I get to the first point where I can save it.
Haven't touched it since. I've been playing Sly 2 and Resistance 1.

To be honest it killed a little bit of the nostalgia for me. 'Cause for me, when my brother and I played back in the day, Snake parachuted into the jungle against the backdrop of a beautiful sunrise. It was mad sexy.

PAA: OTRSPOD Episode 2 has been patched!
The patch went up on the 15th, and it seems the issue that affected save games at a certain point is no longer an issue. I can't wait to get back to that one, I was really pissed when the glitch killed my save.
So if like me, you were holding of playing until they patched it - get on it. There is dark work to be done.

Fat Princess tentatively set for March it seems. Also, what's the deal with Flower? I've been hearing it more and more, haven't had a chance to lookit a trailer.
I had to dig a bit to find this thread--but I figured this would be the best place to ask.
Here's my dilemma, in complete sincerity: I'd like to purchase a Playstation 3. But, and I realize how stupid this is, I'm really only interested in one (possibly two) games. I really like this game (and yes, I realize how stupid it sounds to buy a console for just one game). I've played other PS3 games, but none of them have made me...well, long for them like this one.
For the sake of simplicity, I'm not going to say what game it is. Anyway, now that I'm done needlessly justifying my thoughts, I want to know: where is the cheapest place to buy a Playstation 3 80GB model? New or used is acceptable (I generally go with new, especially since my luck with used Sony consoles has been....somewhat poor...). The 80GB model seems to have everything I want--some backwards compatibility (there are 3 or 4 PS2 games I'd like to play, but it's not a deal breaker), WiFi (my TV is pretty far away from my router), more space than I'll ever need, and HDMI output.
So, where's the cheapest place to pick up a Playstation 3 80GB? Naturally, it's possible that once I own a PS3, my interest in PS3 titles will skyrocket, but in the meantime, I'd like to start playing that one game as cheaply as possible.
I'll defer to the judgment of those who know way more about Playstation 3s than I do.
