EDIT: Sorry, I'm stupid, it was the fan, not the hard drive.
And by making funny noises, I mean there's an extremely violent catfight going on in my hard drive during start up. When I log in to Windows, it's still humming like it's unevenly weighted. The hard drive is the original and is about a year old (in an Asus laptop).
I would backup your data as soon as possible. I would get a new one and try to ghost the old one. You can hang onto the old one, but don't put any essential data onto it.

Ok. How do I find out what kind of hard drive I have?
You can try and replace the fan, if it is a standard size it would make it easier. Other than that you will probably have to hit up ebay or try and order one from their parts department.
Fixing fans isn't really a good option, but you can get it to limp along for a little bit by lubing it up. I wouldn't really suggest this though it can get really messy.

Also re-reading your post, do you have a CD in the CD drive? That could be a source of noise.
it's an s96s Asus, not under warranty, and no CD in the drive.
edit: wait no, I think it still is under warranty.
Interface SATA 3Gb/s
Form Factor 2.5"
I hope that helps.
Thanks, I'll look into it. I'm going to try and call Power Notebooks and see if they can do anything about it first.
