I'm at a conference and haven't seen any of SF but Mosone center then hotel. That being said, the conference is over at 6 tonight and I leave tomorrow. I could probably just hole up in my hotel room, but it seems a shame to fly all the way over here and not see the city at all.
So, what can one do that's close to the Moscone center (or some place off the BART, I got one of those passes to get from the airport). I'm not the most social guy, so people waching, dinner something like that. I just don't want to leave without at least trying to do something touristy / cool / unique to San Fran.
Thanks in advance.
Dan

Ghiradelli square and Lombard street are always popular and aesthetically pleasing tourist destinations. Some of my favorite people-watching in SF is at tonight's regular Bondage-A-Go-Go event at the Glas Kat. I'm not sure how they feel about people not in fetish/gothy gear these days though, especially if you're just watching. I could recommend some restaurants, but give me a sense of your budget.
Regarding food, I guess I have a 20-30 budget. I'll prolly just sit at the bar, so it doesn't need to be fancy. Worst case I'll hit chevys. Thanks for the suggestions so far.
This is going to be a dumb question, but how would I get to lombardi st? Is it walkable? The bart seems to run sw to ne and not really go over there? Or I guess a bus?
Touristy
Lombard St.
Hop in a cab. Say Lombard St. Pay $8
Ghiridelli Square
You can take a bus (or a nice walk) down market street to the Piers then hop on the F trolly to take you to the pier 39 (tourist trap) and giridelli square is a short walk from there.
Bars
House of Shields-A good Bar in the FiDi (financial district) this is a cool little bar that is not too cool for school but not ultra chic either.
Zietgiest- This bar/beer garden is on the border of hipster town (the Mission) and the Castro but it is pretty cool if you want that young angst/ old biker vibe.
Go order the Famous Prime Rib French Dip sandwhich at Houston's. $18 I think, but WAY FUCKING WORTH IT.
Then, go order french toast at Dottie's True Blue Cafe in the morning before you leave. Warning, there may be a line.
Also, try shooting a text message (from your phone) to ChaCha. Just type 242242 (ChaCha) in your phone and ask them a specific question. An expert will get the question and find an appropriate response. Something like "Where can I find entertainment in SF, over 21?"
