Never played a street fighter before. In the move command list what does charge mean? I can't pull off jack. I'm a fighting game noob suckered in by the prettiness and cheap price and can't even do simple moves! Any good beginners guides or tutorials?

Charge is holding down the whatever they tells you.
There were some tutorial videos posted earlier, but they really seemed to be more along the lines of a video glossary.
Charge means that you have to hold down the first direction for around a second before going on with the move. For example, Chun-Li's slow fireball is charge back, forward+punch. That means you hold back for a little then hit forward and punch to throw the fireball.
Gonna take me a while to get good at the game. The timing for doing moves is so strict compared to the newer street fighter games like 3rd strike. Either that, or I'm out of practice.

Welcome to the Wide World of Street Fighter! Hopefully I, with the help of some very informative videos can help you out a bit.
When a move tells you that you need to "charge" in order to do it you can think of it as holding a direction. With Guile for example, if you hold the direction for away (away from your opponent or "back") for about 2 seconds and then push forward and punch you'll do his standard projectile, the Sonic Boom. You can also charge by holding two directions at once like, say, down and back. From the down + back charge you can either press forward and punch for a Sonic Boom or up and kick at the same time for a Flash Kick. You can start charging a move at just about any time, including blocking, getting hit, during other attack animations and in the air.

Remember, with anything, practice makes perfect. You may get frustrated playing against the computer, what I suggest is finding someone you know or someone on these boards around your skill level so that you can progress together. But most of all, have fun!
Ok! I have wrapped up my crappy finger in bandaids and am ready to get my ass handed to me!
Can you hold up to my twin invincible techniques of:
Crouching, then punching, then doing a shoryuken, all from the far side of the stage
and
Pressing the trigger instead of the shoulder buttons
?
I'd just like to note that the Trial for this is ridiculous.
Only local multiplayer is allowed, so if I have the slightest inkling to try to the game, I can't, as I don't have a second gamepad to see what it even LOOKS like.
She's a good choice Taramoor. Cammy and Guile have been treating me well for this version.
Normally I'm a Dhalsim guy, so he'll definitely be putting in an appearance here and there, but I'm going to stick with Cammy and her tremendously annoying jumping command throw and fireball dodge.
The change to the commands on those moves for Cammy has done wonders. Its no longer a issue of "should I attempt this because I'm not sure it'll come out," the command doesn't limit its usage. Having said that, I'm have a lot of fun AAing people who over use it :P

I have to say. I am throughly impressed with the netcode. Playing waffle19 (pogo1250) I didn't much latency. There was a tad bit and it dispersed pretty quickly. This is the best 1200 xbox live points I've ever spend and I sooo need a 360 arcade stick now.
I have been doing ranked matches for two days and my stats dont show up in the challenge window when an opponent is chosen is it borked or am I just looking in the wrong place?

Wow, so all it took to make Cammy a contender was to make her moves reliably performable.
Now if only E.Honda's hundred hand wasn't so goddamned annoying.

Someone brought this up earlier - apparently it's used if you fight the same guy over and over? Which never happen in a ranked match. I'll try to find it.
As for the win/loss record in multiplayer, if you play a player match, it uses those statistics. In player matches, you can keep re-matching the person you're fighting, and that is when those indicators come into play. I'm not sure why they even displayed them during ranked play, since you can only play one match at a time.
So I'm starting with Ryu as my first character, he seems newbie friendly. Having a heck of a time pulling off his spinning uppercut move (shoryuken?) effectively, always go into a hadoken when I need it I'm probably going to order a cheap hori pad for this game, and eventually SFIV.
tendo101 is my PSN if anyone wants to fight a total newb tomorrow
So after winning a few online matches I was feeling pretty confident again, then my brother, who hasn't touched the game in like 3 years picks up a controller, one with a D-pad that has never been used, he has a broken right hand on top of this, and he proceeds to beat me like a red headed step child.

Yeah that's correct, it's only there for player matches.
Xboxxer, thanks for the friend request, I haven't been on my PS3 all day but the next time I sign in I'll accept it!

They made a bunch of other changes as well, but I'm just glad I can pull those off more often:
The character specific articles basically talk you through the balance process, I was reading them to find out the bottom line! So I'd read one thing and think "awesome" and then he'd say "...but that was too powerful so I took it out."
In fact a lot of them read "well this character was high tier so I made him worse! But then he was bad so I made him a little better. Also it was a big problem since he could <street fighter term> within 3 frames of guile's sonic boom so that had to be fixed. Thanks to HondaSephiroth69 for pointing this out to me!"

But if you're going to learn the inputs then just practise for a while. Nobody can really teach you that, you need to figure it out on your own.

Beginner Part 1
Beginner Part 2
You can basically skip Part 2 after Throws & Holds, but make you sure watch that part because Throws are REALLY good in this game.
Intermediate
Advanced
In fact, everyone should watch these videos. Everyone.

All losses.

You'll get there, man.
They jump in with an attack and then they sweep kick me. I jump in with an attack and then they sweep kick me.
No justice.
The Akuma I faced looked like all he knew was the jumping rounhouse>sweep :P
Is there any way to watch the other matches in a tournament after you lose?
Wow.. the game is going fine until I start spectating or join my fight then eveyone who faces me gets disconnected.
I think I just encountered my first even voicechat enabled match. Silence exempt for a cough in the middle, then when I lost an "oh yeah~"
edit - hell yeah my first win! 1-11, baby! And it only took someone who did not seem to know what blocking was...
