So, my question is... why does this thing suck so bad? I mean, I enjoyed Phoenix: Endsong, it was interesting and the art was simply amazing. However, with the third issue of this series done, I can't help but not care how it ends.
My question: Is anyone else actually reading this, and, is anyone else actually LIKING this?

Reading, not really liking.
But I must finish.

it should be pointed out that Morrison planted the seeds for all of this, and that none of it is a horrible departure from the hints and clues he laid.
This really feels like it should have been an X-series arc, and not even HALFWAY involved with anything doing with the Phoenix. It makes it seem so....unfocused...
Now, what we need to see is Jean Grey in full on Whitecrown/Phoenix mode, showing up at the end of Civil War AND Annihilation declaring...
"War OVER"
That would make me all kinds of tight in the pants....

I just want to say that it's one hell of a downward slope from Fantomex to this pile of crap..

I enjoyed Endsong. Especially the part where [spoiler:143e8af77e]Jean has Logan kill her over and over again, that was so fucked up and yet awesome. Asking someone you know who has feelings for you to do the unthinkable again and again to weaken yourself.[/spoiler:143e8af77e]
As for the article/Warsong, to the wiki-browser!

As far as I know, yes, it is. I think it might have been mentioned in another X-book (Endsong, not Warsong), but I could be mistaken. I'm pretty sure it is in continuity though.

Yep.
I guess the execution sucks or something? Haven't read it.

[spoiler:566d6e5d27] And finally, the episode concludes with the Three-In-One's discovery that they're only three of several hundreds/thousands of identical female units-- the remainder residing in individual incubation chambers hidden within an underground laboratory. The two deceased Cuckoos, now undead but still decayed, seem more aware of the unfolding events than do the Three-In-One; though how this is so has yet to be revealed.
In the third issue, it was revealed that the cuckoos were clones of Emma Frost. It was also shown that Celeste now weilds the Phoenix Force.[/spoiler:566d6e5d27]

Whatever. It's all in the execution. That plot in the right hands could be totally awesome.
I like how people get upset when things happen in comics.

No, I agree... if this was well written and had better pacing, it might be good. But as it is now, it's making baby jesus weep tears of blood.
Which is so odd, because it's the same guy who wrote Endsong, and these two books cannot be more different.

It's been dead for a while. A long while. Morrison used it.
Plus, it's The Phoneix Force, not Jean. That shit can do whatever it wants as far as I'm concerned.
i dunno, i've never liked the cosmic stuff in marvel and definitely not really in x-men
Well then, there you go. If you think the Phoneix is lame from the outset then it's not really the guy's fault you don't like the plot of a book with Phoenix in the title.

Not that I'm saying it's a good book.
sure it is
it's his fault for using a lame concept!

The last couple of pages of New X-Men are some of the best in the series. You're all on drugs.
"I... had to amputate the whole future."
And then Jean rewrites the future of the universe by telekinetically controlling every single molecule as the... uh Phoenix Corps looks on. It made the very bad last arc worth reading.

Oh Come on! They're [spoiler:599fb72ccc]zombie robots![/spoiler:599fb72ccc]
Also, the exact panel one of them loses an arm, they each have two. They're even talking about how one of them lost an arm.

Too bad the art sucked anyway.
