So does my xbox have to be connected to the internet to play .avi files now? After I install the media update, it still prompts me to download it each time.

My googleing has told me that some people have to, some people don't. Doe's anyone know what makes it like this, if I can fix it, etc.

Try clearing out your cache? Pretty sure the method is in the OP.

Thanks, I'll try that when I get home. Didn't see it in the OP, just Netflix stuff.

I'm just that lazy. Stranglehold took about 10 minutes, MUA another 10... By the time I got both of them installed I was ready to try out another game, which meant I had to delete them.

$130 is a lot of fucking money for a 120GB drive (I was tossing up between this and a 1TB external HDD for my PC) but I think it'll get some use.

Which you already have if you've got a 20gig/60gig drive. :P

It's really pretty asinine. That enclosure is all plastic with a single cable inside and a $40 hard drive that Microsoft probably pays $20 or less for when they buy a gazillion of 'em.

I'm sure it's been discussed... but did they remove some of the codecs for video playback with NXE?

None of my porn... errr... videos... want to play nicely since the update.

I now get "unable to play" messages for some, was prompted to install the media update for others (which I already had, but redownloaded anyway), and some just sit at "Opening" forever with no progress.

Yeah but there's a problem with that articles info right off the bat. Value Added Retailers are paying $75 for 120Gb 2.5" hard drives? Really? Why? When average Joe Consumer can buy one for around $50? That's retail, companies don't pay retail when they buy goods.

Even Gizmodo relinquishes at the end and admits that they're probably making a ton more money off this than anybody wants to think. I mean I get it, it's great fucking business to have high profit margins...it does make consumers feel shafted though when they start to realize they're being taken.

Yeah, the Xbox drives are certainly still a big rip-off, but I just wanted to make the point that 2.5" vs. 3.5" is not a valid comparison. If you're going to make the comparison, do it valid, you don't have to make the invalid comparison for it to work.

That's just how much of a ripoff the MS drives really are. :P

THIS, so very, very hard. I want to give MS some cash for the 120 gig drive, but I can't justify the prices. I hope (against hope) that the price will drop post-holiday. I've been looking forward to the sound of my disc drive NOT spinning, and only being able to do it with Gears 2 is a slight downer.

I picked up the 60 gig live pack this weekend, and I've been quite happy with it. I was really torn about getting it, or the 120 gig for $35 more, but in the end I realized I'm still paying more, and the 60 will probably suit my needs just fine. Sure enough, I redownloaded all my arcade games, and installed Left 4 Dead, Fallout 3, Mirror's Edge, and Gears of War 2, and I still have 25 gigs free. I think the 60 suited me just fine.

If you install a game that's not on this list or doesn't have details entered, I guess you could like...register and post or something. But I didn't tell you to do that.

If ever there was something that could easily be dynamic, it's that shit. I have i.TV and forgot they just added this function.
Hmm, hope you can search for stuff in the future since LCFiner couldn't find a way to do it. :/

    Oh, I figured it out.

Just hit "search" and it should find the movie you looked for.
It'll have a netflix option and will tell you if it's available for disc or instant.

Hit "add to queue" and it'll ask which one to add it to.

I love i.TV even more now.

There just isn't a way to browse the instant movie section, which is what it needs.

OK, major fix to my post above. you can use the generic "search" tab to add movies from netflix to your queue within i.TV.

is this as good as being able to browse top 100 or genres or find new movies from netflix suggestions?
    no

is it good enough to add a movie you already have in mind? you betcha.

edit: bah! beaten by dallow! :lol

You guys should check out iFlix if you want a good iPhone app for Netflix. Not free ($2.99) but it's by far the best IMO. You can rearrange your instant queue and also browse for new instant watching titles to add from within it.

Check out their site for screenshots: http://iphonevine.com/iflix2/

TL;DR your iphone is now an awesome netflix remote. jizzgasm?

I shudder to link you here, but NeoGAF has an extremely comprehensive thread for game install benefits/capability.

If you install a game that's not on this list or doesn't have details entered, I guess you could like...register and post or something. But I didn't tell you to do that.
    Don't do it. :|
not really sure why i'm afraid of NeoGAF
One does not simply register into NeoGAF.
