I've noticed that no one's done any reporting on how skate performs after installation. I would love to but I recently traded out my copy. I would like to think that there would be some improvement for resetting your skater.
Ive got it installed atm, but i didnt play it much before installation, so i cant vouch for the differences. The load time when you continue your career seems pretty long, so i dont think it helped that matter. Id say there is no noticable changes.
About avatars.. how do you use facepaint? Is it just an option i missed?
Hmm. Are there certain ports that need to be opened for the Netflix thing? Because I keep getting 1 bar of quality, and it never really opens the movie.

Just make sure UPnP is enabled on your router. That should likely take care of it if that's the issue.
And I'm in the same boat as you: finally got a 120GB drive yesterday and it's like heaven. The 360's never been quieter and the load times for most of my games so far are stellar.
Okay, seriously what the fuck...? I opened the ports necessary for XBL, I set my router to G only... And it still says my connection is too slow for the content.
My XBox (regular xbox) wireless adapter probably needs to be replaced.

Yeah, my computer is setup right next to the 360, and I get amazing download speeds. The only thing I can think of is that I'm using the oXbox wireless adapter, and it's not nearly as good as the 360 one?

thanks. Yeah, the inital loading and then if you set a marker at, say the top of old town then skate all the way to DIY park and then travel back (or any kind of quick travel really) there's a bit of a load.
really wish I still had the game but then I recently played it and remember why I traded it (it got to the point to where it was more frustrating then fun).
I have a feeling this will only apply to me and perhaps 3 other people tops, but...
LOST: Via Domus's load times are DRASTICALLY decreased. Enough that I was actually motivated to tackle the last 4 achievements I needed, and did them all in under 30 minutes, to get my first 1000/1000 gamerscore.
I'd say loading from zone to zone now takes 15 seconds at absolute most.

Interesting. And that game can be had for $20 or less these days. Possibly far less if used.
Yeah, I was browsing the Netflix Instant movies last night and happened upon Captain N and the Mario Super Show.
Best nine bucks a month ever.
I've also completely destroyed The Office Season 1 and 2 since I subscribed last week. This service is fantastic.

This is pretty dangerous for me. I sat on the couch literally all day watching Netflix movies.
The only problem at this point is I've seen so much of the mainstream stuff that I'm running out of stuff I actually want to see. There are a lot of recommendations, but not a lot particularly interesting.
I think I either have one of the last Falcons, or a Jasper. The power supply is 150W, the lot # is 0841X, and it was made by Team FDOU, with a manufacturing date of 10/9/08. It's a Pro, not an Arcade.
In honor of my 360 having John Lennon's birthday, I made a crappy John Lennon avatar:
Man, though, even a 60 GB gets filled up fast. I've got about 30 GB left, after just three installs (Lego Batman, Lego Star Wars, and Lego Indy), six demos, and Castlevania: SOTN. I know, it's a lot more than 20GB owners have, so I'm not complaining. I just think I'll need to be careful in choosing what to install.

Just cycle out what you install. I play 1-3 games simultaneously, 4 at the absolute max, before putting something away on the shelf. When you're done with a game, uninstall it to free up room. If you get the itch to play it again, just play from the disc, or take the five minutes to install it again. The 60 really is going to be plenty for me.
Is Microsoft going to copy the Playstation Home thing? It seems like it'd be easy enough to do, just create an four wall space you can move the mii60s around in. With a couch and a TV that displays the name/logo of the game he's playing. Since it's using really basic avatars they could skip on the graphics and people would still eat it up.
And it's not like they haven't copied the PS3 firmware, those crosstabs are pretty blatanty copied.

I agree. I've got a 60gig, and I've installed about 5 games (Tales, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Fable 2, and Fallout 3), and I haven't gotten around to playing a couple of those yet. But I plan on cycling so that when I move on to the other major multi-disc RPGs I own, I'll have the room.
How long it'll take me to get there is another story for a backlog thread.
With the other stuff on my HD, this is leaving about 17 gigs of wiggle room. So 60 gigs feels like plenty enough for me.
Well, I just installed Fable 2 on my new 120 gig hdd... and my 360 is dying.
It keeps freezing up with vertical lines of artifacts and a screeching sound, any time from the 360 boot logo through to managing to play a game for 30 minutes. No red ring or error message.
I tried all the troubleshooting - disconnected all peripherals, tried my old 20 gig hdd, moved it out of the entertainment unit into open air etc, but no go.
I finally tried Xbox support who had me try hdd maintenance. I wasn't convinced this would help at all, but I gave it a go... with the same results.
Alas, poor Xbox, you served me faithfully for nearly three years. I'm the only person I knew with an Aussie launch 360 who had it last this long. :P
Oh well, I will have to give Microsoft a call tomorrow and decide whether to get it fixed or just buy a new one.
Added steps to get into New Release content and demos.
Dashboard that likes to stop responding for 30 seconds when accessed while playing.
Things I'm liking...
Netflix, and Sony lifting their stupid embargo. Woo!
Parties. A damn sight better than finding players through friend-of-a-friend lists. Also helps everybody get on the same page and playing together instead of everybody pubbing it in nine different games.

That's how it was in the old dashboard, so I'm used to it.
At least you can manually scroll download descriptions now. As opposed to waiting ages for it to start scrolling on its own and find out there were only like two more words.

Not on everything. I'm still waiting on a couple really interesting films that are still unavailable. It is nice the vast majority of stuff got unlocked, though.
Does anybody know why Netflix has some movies where they'll no longer be available to view instantly after a certain date, and why that date constantly gets shifted, and why some movies without a date will suddenly get a date, and then go back again. It's getting irritating as shit.
There was some movies in my dad's instant queue (who's account I'm stealing for use with my Xbox, don't worry he's getting some awesome Xmas presents) that I wanted to watch, I go to click them.. and they're no longer available. Notably Star Trek movies.

It's the constant shifting that's confusing me though. I've literally had movies go from limited to not limited, and back to limited again, and vice versa.
Edit: and fucking tv shows. If you're going to have episodes from a season not available, make them all from one disc. Random episodes interspersed through the season is fucking annoying.

From what I've read, the Microsoft/Netflix deal has been a huge success, much more than anyone expected. As a result, a lot of studios are trying to renegotiate their deals. Others - like the BBC - are pulling out of Netflix in favor of their own digital distribution methods.

@gamefacts - Totally and utterly true gaming facts on the regular!
Though, booting it up to a "101.5GB Free" message was pretty fucking awesome. And that was after Burnout Revenge was installed :P

Yeah, even without a game in the drive at all - it crashed once at the boot screen, another time while I was streaming music.
