After visiting the mall, I'm surprised they don't fucking charge you for every game of pool or bowling you're playing. Jesus!
It's not enough that every place is filled with ads for DLC (games, movies, etc) I guess.
And who the hell chose the music for that dance floor in the central plaza? UGH, my ears.
This said, my harbour appartment is nice. Aside from pool, my favorite thing about Home right now is standing on my balcony, looking at the yachts and the sea and wishing I lived in a place like this... sigh.

The music's actually voted on. So to answer your qustion, look around the plaza - they chose the music.

Be careful in bowling. I went to respond to a message between frames, got to the message edit screen, and the controler stopped responding to anything but holding down the playstation button. Had to turn off the system completely. Now I can't reconnect to Home :P
I've enjoyed bowling and pool. Played a TON of bowling. Have a lane now if anyone wants to meet up. A few frames left in this game, but I'll grab it when it ends and we can snag it.
God I hope they let us place an alley in our home or club at one point. I would totally throw down some money for that. Maybe a chess table, too.
I'll be on later tonight after work. I'll ok all the applications and then "promote" everyone so it's not just me that can give the "ok" to club requests.
Everything seems a little empty and I want to punch everyone using a headset. I'm hoping more content will be added soon 'cause there's really not that much to do right now.
I just did a little lookaround, and it looks quite nice.
I am quite put off by the fact that everything in the shops costs money, but also that the selection is so small. I tried to see if I could buy the current outfit I am wearing (in real life), but alas, no yellow T-shirts, brown non-slobbery pants, or nice black or brown shoes. I am happy that at least the glasses you get with your initial character creation look more or less like mine. Can't you sell your current furniture so that you can replace it with something else? And has anyone bought the summer house? How does that look?
I would plonk down cold hard cash (and look ridiculous in the game too) if they would sell Valkyria Chronicles costumes. Of course it would be better that you would get these clothes if the system detects that you've earned plenty of medals in that game.
But yes, as mentioned before, you can't look around without seeing heaps of commercials and "the same people"... And is there any way to switch off that annoying "elevator music" when walking around in the shopping mall? Some things do not have to be too realistic...
And in my 10 minutes of running around I only spotted 4 different Gokus
And finally : Where do I find my quests? Where can I earn gold? And how do I earn XP and level up? And where do I mine for fish?
It really is about the games you can play. As simple as they are, they've made home for me. I was really bored and disappointed walking around, but playing in the bowling alley all evening has been a lot of fun. That being said, not much bugs me either as far as comments. Someone is being loud, I mute them, and text is easy to ignore, but I guess I can see how someone could get bent by random people saying silly things. Just don't take the rest of the stuff too serious. Get in some pool or bowling (they're likely full, but games are always ending and you can easily sit once they do). Just relax and screw around with the games and it gets a lot more enjoyable, especially once you get accustomed to the people around you, some friendly trash talk gets going on, some emote wars, etc. It's decent, if a bit underwhelming as a "world".
It's hard as hell to make a good looking woman in Home. I did it anyways, though, and she's dressed as revealingly as I could make her. It's like some social experiment, and it's hilarious and sad at the same time. Right now I'm sitting down in the theater, and I have three guys standing in front of me being vulgar. I wish we could name each individual avatar, though.
With a female avatar, I can't see ANYTHING in the theater because all the guys keep standing in front of me and blocking my vision and saying things like, "HEY CUTIE!"

It's as though people actually think the collection of polygons they are talking to is a real person, and not just a.. you know.. avatar.

Home is god awful without a keyboard.... and pretty terrible with the idiots running around playing shitty music over their headsets and acting retarded.
THAT SAID
I've applied to club penny arcade, it'll be nice to interact with civilized (relatively!) people.
Haha, oh man. I never really showed much interest in the closed beta but I figured I'd give the open beta a try. So I log into Home, see that one of my real life friends is logged in too, he fins me and we decide to have a game of checkers/draughts. I destroyed him. So bad in fact, that he suddenly decided to log out.
Anyway, Home. It's pretty neat but they really need to expand it a lot if they want everyone to stick around. There's a lot of people in there now but I really don't think there'll be as many after 100 days of looking at the same 3 or 4 different buildings. Oh and how about some more free clothes? Everyone looks the same at the moment.
I think it's Grinch, and I do believe he's not home right now.
Yep, it's me and at present I'm at work. I was just happy to stump up the cash for it and get it set up, when I get home tonight I'll accept everyone and "promote" everyone.
That way anyone can "ok" an invite, move furniture etc etc. So expect confirmed invites in around 7 hours or so.
I've got £1.60 left in my wallet or something like that so, because I'm that sad, I'll try and buy some stuff for the "clubhouse" if it's available. A chess-set, a picture frame (If they're available now. I assume you'll be able to add your own picture to them) etc.
::Edit:: Can anyone from the beta confirm if we got to keep our stuff? I went out and "Bought" everything whilst it was free! Also do I get to keep my snazzy house?

Found one nice thing out...you can get free clothing from arcade games.
You unlock an outfit from doing well at Ectochrome.
Probably already known, but it was new to me...I think you may unlock stuff from the other games, too...but I got a pretty high score on the train one and didn't unlock anything...

Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.

I don't understand the selling stuff for your home. For a buck! No thanks, I don't want a coffee table for $0.99. If I cared that much I'd be playing Sims 2, thanks.

You know the prefab stuff that you have in your place? You can place UNLIMITED(well, it may be limited...i dunno) number of them down for FREE. Woo.
I made a coffee table pyramid. And then climbed to the top of it. It was great.
I put a chair there for my throne, but I'm gonna try to put a big chair up there next time...

Just because you, or me, don't want any of that stuff, it doesn't mean anybody else does. If people are dumb enough to pay for these things I don't see any problem with Sony making money off them.

Yes.
Awesome, in that case I'll deck the clubhouse out tonight. I made sure to "buy" all the different forms of furniture when they were free. I also have some Namco stools etc from the Japanese Namco Beta which are otherwise unavailable (like my Pacman t-shirt!)
I should hopefully have an awful lot of stuff left over from the beta. Let me decorate it up and then you folks can move the stuff around/delete it and add whatever else you feel necessary. If I shove in a bunch of furniture I got free though it saves un-needed spending.
All I really want to buy is a chess table and I don't know if they're for sale
Also I'll likely be home sooner than planned, Xmas drinks in the office have left me a little sleepy!
Good god. This thing is kinda creepy.
Its fun to make a female character and time how long it takes for someone(or three guys at once) to run up to you and say hi and try to talk to you. Yiiiipes.
I followed a guy this morning that had a mic, and kept going up to all of the female avatars saying:
"Hey girl, wanna talk? Girl?"
Creepy. The theater was also full of some XBL quality racism. At least it was accompanied by dancing.
Yeah, in my experience it's only ever the American area of these services that has that. If I log in to the American version of Home It's racist city, but in the European one, not so much. I've also seen very little evidence of racism on Live, but it might be bacuse I'm getting matched with locals.

Are you duders dressed like prostitutes or something? I've had positive experiences so far, besides the frequent How you doin's
Last night I sat and chatted with a group of random people about everything from games, to the bailout to the price of gas until midnight, good times. That's what home is about.
How does one decipher the coded doors in the uncharted bar though? People are just shouting out the numbers but where did they come from? That would be pretty neat if they came from exploring things about the space, but there's nothing to interact with.
My first experience with HOME: After one minute, ONE minute in the central area a person walks up to me and sends me a message saying "Douchebag." Now, I was just standing there looking at the controls
I then went to the mall, noticed they were charging .49 for a shirt and logged out. I'll check back once they add more stuff.

Also, I remember from closed beta that we used PSP's for our options and whatnot. What is this newfangled contraption that our avatars are using now?

In the bowling ally. Also, like SOE's previous MMO you need to wait for a spot to clear before you can camp mobs.
