Minor issue, there can only be four (I think) people promoted. So who wants to receive and ok requests for people joining the club? I've promoted a few people at the mo but not for any particular reason, they were just randomly picked from the list.
Oh and I'm aware the Galaga machines don't work, but they're pretty so they're staying till we get ACTUAL arcade machines
Last night I played no games, but I was able to log into the open beta of PlayStation Home.
In the open beta I retained the avatar that I controlled in the closed beta: a lovely woman with dark skin, short hair and a striking red-and-black striped top. This is the first time I’ve ever gender-bent in a multiplayer experience and — wouldn’t you know it — what people have told me is true:
If you play as a woman, people won’t leave you alone!
Other Home users keep walking up to me in Home to chat with me. Just this morning I logged on to Home to take a picture of my avatar. I was online for maybe two minutes. In that time, two male avatars approached me. Each wanted to know either my name or where I was from.
I can’t take all this attention! I’m going to switch to being a guy so people leave me be.
I should be home shortly and I'll jump back into home for bit to check out the clubhouse before losing myself gathering trophies in Uncharted again. I do hope they do some kind of tie in where getting trophies in games give you game related rewards in home. The clothing from playing echochrome in the home arcade is a good start, but I'd like that expanded into rewards from major titles as well.
After one minute, ONE minute in the central area a person walks up to me and sends me a message saying "Douchebag." Now, I was just standing there looking at the controls
That is the funniest thing ever, and probably the most accurate representation of anything online ever.

Well if it's that obvious you should stop being a douchebag.

Sorry the furniture is a bit samey and what-not. And the place is a little sparse. I do have a few more decorations carried over from the beta but more seemed overkill. I don't imagine folks will spend any time in the clubhouse at all until we can get a few games in there.

Haha, I made an alt just in case

I'd like to help, but I won't be able to anytime soon. If you still need any help going with this stuff in about seven or eight hours, I'd be happy to help.

Oh god, it's as everyone described. I was outside, then I save my character for future use, and changed myself into the hottest redhead I could make with the editor. The very second I got out of the wardrobe, EVERYONE started gathering around me and saying stuff like "hi sexy" or "nice ass".
Holy shit. All the real girls playing Home will be playing guy alts. This place is worse than Live.
I honestly can't get over the things I'm reading about female avatars.
Wouldn't it be common knowledge by this point in time that easily 75% of the female avatars are actually guys?
And all that aside, YOURE HITTING ON PIXELS, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU.
Tell that to my inbox filling up with greetings and friend requests. This social experiment of mine is getting beyond anything I could imagine.
I would have thought there'd be an almost equal ammount of guys and girls (not for real, but avatars), but even as far as avatars go, this is a sausagefest with girls being harassed left and right.
I wonder if I made a fat, ugly girl, what would happen.

We are talking about people who spend over 400 dollars for a PS3 and are willing to download a beta early on. Many of the people online will be basement dweller.
Can someone explain to me what Sony was thinking with making people wait in line?
I was in at an extremely busy time last night, and still could get into bowling games WITH friends within a couple minutes.
What were they thinking? Give people a taste, make them be social, and give them the ability to buy their own lane/table/game later. I bowled for nearly 3 hours last night with randoms, got a few new friends for the list and had to wait very little.
So what's the general word on this? Worth it? Waste? Why did it take so long to make this shit? Or I can see where all that time and effort went?
Also, I love how in the comic they censor out ass, but fucking just slips past on that one.
It depends on what you want out of it, how scared you are of other people, and if you understand that it takes two button presses to mute someone. Again man, I played the games with a lot of people last night and had a lot of fun. It's not an mmo, it's not Second Life. It's closer to something like some of the old avatar services that people like Commodore or Sierra ran back in the day. It's entertaining for what it is, especially if you don't set your standards too high in the first place, and realize it's more of a starting off point than a completed idea.

Trying to make people social almost never works online.
Ok, ok, I'm being too harsh. If you play with FRIENDS and not strangers, Pool is pretty neat. I heard Bowling is good too, but I don't know, seeing how there are never any free lanes. :x
Also, I heard more racial slurs and vulgar comments in the 2 hours I spent in Home than I've heard in almost 2 years of Live.

Riiiight. So everyone here on the PA forums and SA's forums all knew one another before they came here. Same with WoW players. Millions of players that all knew one another before they started playing.
Trying to make people who are violently against being social online doesn't work. No. But otherwise, it works just fine. Especially if you're willing to actually take a step here and there to make the experience more palatable for yourself rather than just kneejerk "OMGHESAIDFUCK!!!" *QUIT* *Complain on forum*.
Oh come on, Aoi, this is bad faith. This isn't one guy saying "fuck". Home so far has been more vulgar, sad and perverted than anything I've ever seen before except Second Life.

Wow, I just don't see it dude. I was on for about 5 hours last night and while I did hear the occasional idiot being an idiot, and got a rickroll once, I didn't hear this stuff. I really honest to god didn't. Maybe it was because I stuck to the bowling alley. *shrug*
That being said, holy shit. The Japanese layout is completely different than ours, and really damned nice. The central area is huge. Is the Euro layout completely different, too?

I've been in the beta for a while, and for the life of me I can't think of what you would do in Home for 5 hours.

Replaced the suit with a turtleneck though.
Wandering around aimlessly listening to people call female avatars lesbos and playing Saucer Pop.
Edit: My high score is now 200.
I figured out how to sign up, just need to get accepted now.
Maybe later, an internet guy is here switching our service to dish and upgrading our internet for $50 cheaper a month :^:
Yeah, I was one those many posts that was made a few pages back:

Thanks a ton Grinch, Home is kinda boring with no friends. 8-)
Good question-do you have to apply? If not, my PSN name is PalaceBrother. If I have to apply I'll try and figure it out tonight.

XBL - Follow Freeman
I go to the theatre to see what that is all about. The move trailer for Twilight comes on, everyone starts yelling out about how stupid Twilight is.
Ha, now the Paramore music video. Classic.
