I can't believe people think the BNP is similar to the Republican Party. That's like saying a dog is similar to a table. Sure, they both have four legs but the similarities stop there.

It sort of hit me around the top of the fourth page that I don't think people were fully grasping the nature of European far-right organisations.

    Coldred is future.

    Coldred, has Obama ascended yet?

He's currently at 35,000 feet and rising.

The BNP is pretty harmful, but (hopefully) they have, and will continue to have, practically zero power.

You're posting on an American forum. Even if they were aware of this, you'll see people rail against discrimination based on personal beliefs if they aren't affecting anyone in the work place regardless of what those beliefs are. Different values.

Yeah, Quid's a Navy desk jockey.

Being a desk jockey in the armed forces is one of the best jobs you can get. Great security, great benefits, decently approaching a meritocracy.

To be fair at least he's an important desk-jockey right now. Well... he will be.

Edit: And he'll answer in a few minutes. He's in the shower.

If he's in Monterey he's getting spy training.

I don't think you understand. They don't care what it is. That part's irrelevant. What's relevant to them is the discrimination of people based on beliefs part.
    Bottom-line it for me, Quid.

Originally I was a Dispersing Clerk, which meant I was meant to maintain and track the pay of people, process leave chits, pay documents, whatever. But we were getting merged with Personnelmen soon to become Personnel Specialists so they just stuck me in the student section office of our command and I started processing and updating records, some pay stuff, transferred people, over and over for about a year and a half.

Then, as the war kept sucking and the Army was getting spread thinner, the Navy and Air Force were asked to start volunteering people for support jobs. Our command said they'd have to pick someone to send and I told my supervisor I'd volunteer. He said no. So I told his supervisor I'd volunteer. Since he was new and didn't know I was good at my job he said yes and I was all "Fuck yeah I'm getting out of a desk job in Mississippi." So then I got my fun as fuck light infantry training in Texas, became one of the very few Personnel Specialists in the navy to qualify with a grenade launcher, went to Iraq to guard detainees, and was promptly put in a desk job just outside out compound to track and maintain detainee records. :x Which was technically a good job for someone as low as me, but meant pretty much fuck all at the time. I did eventually get to be a guard for the last few months and it was immensely more enjoyable.

Then I came back and spent about nine months doing the personnel thing again separating and mobilizing reservists until I moved to Monterey to learn Chinese in 16 months.

And so now I'm here stressed more than I've ever been because Chinese is fucking hard.

I thought you were around long enough to know people don't get their opinions changed on a web forum? You've made your point, if people aren't going to read it then you don't have to repeat it either.

In an hour of two a whole new club of people will hold the same discussion all over again, there's really no point in getting worked up over these sort of things.

DO NOT GET MARRIED TO MOVE OFF BASE.

    DO.

    NOT.

    ---

Though yes, that's the general rule. Occasionally in places with really high cost of living they might require you both to live in the base housing for a bit so they can safely assume you figure out what things you need to actually live in a house. But yeah, being married means you can live off base.

Web forums are basically exposition. People talk at each other. I don't know who Leitner surrounds himself with in real life, but when I converse with other people in person we generally actually converse - talk to - each other, not at each other, which comprises about 99% of web forum communication.

In the military if you're married it's virtually de facto approval to move off base and receive a housing allowance. Some geniuses think this is an excellent reason to marry.
