My dad has a certain effect on computers and I don't appreciate it. A few months back, he discovered the wonders of the internet and makes a habit of frequenting Russian webpages (note, he is russian). Ever since then, my computer's health has been taking a hit. I am going to do a format soon and is there anyway to minimize the amount of damage he can do? It's mostly in the form of malware.
Is there any way to dad-proof my computer so that can't get into mischief?
All he needs is Firefox, Window Players Classic and Winamp. If that helps.
Any help is appreciated. Getting him a separate computer is not an option due to my service provider, even though I have the parts for one.
Personally, I'd either set up vmware and periodically restore a unique install of windows run by your father, or get an ubuntu live disk and have him boot into it whenever he goes to use the computer

What OS are you using? The obvious answer seems to be giving him his own user account without any install permissions.
this is probably the best idea in this case though I'm not sure why your ISP would only allow for 1 comp.
you could always set up the second computer to run through a NIC on your computer. would allow for 2 comps, make it so he can't ruin your computer, and go around the 1 computer policy (since he'd be feeding off of your IP address.
only problem with this idea is that there would be a sort of trickle down effect of his comp bandwidth wise, feeding off of yours and all that jazz

You can't just get a wireless router?
