As for inflation, there are all sorts of knick knacks you are expected to spend money on, as I can testify to. Leveling alts also can prove to be an effective money sink. Flight paths cost more, professions cost more, repairing gear costs more, etc. And I very much doubt there will be a lot of people running around with 20k gold in their pockets. From what I have seen so far, the amount of money you make from quests/ daily quests and such isn't nearly as dramatic as it was from vanilla and BC. There will always be some people who run around with a lot of gold - I knew a couple people sitting on 20k gold+ back in BC. But they will be the exception to the rule. Many people are spend thrifts - just look at all the people who still don't have epic flyers even after 2.4 patch when they upped the daily quest limit to 25 per day. That's all but throwing the damned epic flyer at you.
Dark Helmet on
And my poor Death Knight that couldn't afford an icon.
Again, I don't see the point of an epic flyer when I have neither Mining nor Herbalism and there are only 50 non-daily quests left in the game for me. I'll get it eventually. Getting the second-best trinket in the entire game as-of-now is worth the gold.
time is money, and you're saving absurd amounts of time with an epic flier. you could, in all reality, in the time you spend doing 1 quest with a normal flier or mount, do 2 with an epic. that's double the xp and money.
there is vastly more benefit from having and epic flier than just finding mining and herbalism nodes.
also, having looked at the lvl 80 darkmoon faire trinkets, and this is just personal opinion, none of them are wowing me that much. they're really good, but definitely not dealbreakers.
Do you think Engineering would ever get a Guided Surface to Air missile to knock down people off flying mounts?
Id really like that
That would be worth the 5000 gold it would cost me to grind max engineering
They'd probably make it so they instantly get a parachute that protects them from all damage while active. And make it so it won't work in Outland (no over-the-edge kills). In short, yeah, it'd be fun, but they'd relentlessly balance it out.
To be fair about the money grind, it's not necessarily a matter of being thrifty. Personally, I'm just lazy and doing the same quests everyday is boring as hell.
So for factions, which are the best for DPS? I hear Ebon Blade has a very nice twohander and Sons of Holdir have shoulder enchants (I'm assuming for everyone, not just tanks). I wanna start working on rep as soon as I can so when I hit 80 the grind for exalted won't be terrible. I'd look myself, but I'm still at work for another 45 minutes or so, and don't want to tempt the network admins here by messing with wowhead. I'm pretty sure they hate me as is.
Ebon Blade has a Two-Handed sword that boasts like 169 dps and some stats. About as good as a rare-quality weapon you would nab in a heroic. Which is certainly something to consider. The sword looks hideous though in my opinion.

I dunno how they all stack up for some classes, but Darkmoon Card: Greatness is best-in-slot for Rogues at the moment (2nd best in the game, iow), and supposedly fantastic for Ret Paladins as well. The others are all fairly underwhelming though, I agree ... the Berserking! one is very affordable though, so I'm putting that together piece-by-piece, figure I might as well. I don't know how good Prisms would be in practice since I don't have any mana-using classes at 80, but with the changes to how potions work, it seems like it could be valuable for some situations.
Having said that, I have the sword from the Hallows End event and as far as I'm concerned all weapons are hideous compared to it (it's part of my RP set if I ever actually RP on my server). And the sword would basically just be to help me get heroic-geared faster, so I can get raid-geared faster, so I can squish dragons faster.
Also on the reputation front, as long as you are running Heroics the rep grind isn't all that bad. I think I got 1500 rep or so from each instance (not counting my racial bonus), which is fantastic compared to the 300-400 rep you'll get in the non-heroic level 80 instances (barely got 400 in non-Heroic Halls of Lightning, with my racial bonus). Ebon Blade also has a whopping six dailies, plus a slew of quests, so hitting at least Revered for the physical DPS head augment should be pretty painless.
Yeah, that won't be bad, but I'm not sure how much gearing I'll need to get up to heroics. Still 76 and respeccing tonight with mostly BC ret gear. Granted it's not exactly a slouch of gear, but still it's looking like I'm gonna need to get my hit up a LOT fast.

90 strength passive would be one of the best trinkets around by itself; that's 198 AP talented, 218 with BoK. The proc only makes things better.
if my [Mirror of Truth] and [Darkmoon Card: Greatness] both proc at the same time I will have an additional +1390AP from trinkets (and just about 1.75% crit)
Kings can make this even bigger
Mongooses can also proc
and dear god, if I get that new +400AP/proc weapon enchant? I got a 9053 Envenom crit in 10-man Naxx the other day on a trash mob. I hope that this trinket will be the key to getting what I've always dreamed of: a single hit for more than 10,000 damage.
EDIT: Let me emphasize that again. 10,000!
EDIT 2: oh man imagine a Subtlety Rogue that waited for all of the trinkets to proc and then popped the 51pointer and triple Ambushed oh my god
The stat I'm most impressed with right now is Expertise, honestly. Capping it was almost impossible in BC, but I hit the Heroic cap for it no problem on my Rogue in WotLK (24/24). It's so freakin' awesome to be able to stand in front of the mob and suffer no DPS decrease or risk parry-bursting.
It was strange this morning, I got on the Zeppelin to do the Pirate bombing, grouped up with the other person there, bombed the first two pirate boats and things were going swimmingly. And then I crashed. Retyped my password logged in and then crashed, tried again and then crashed again. And then the 4th time I disabled my addons and when I logged in I wasn't in a group any longer so sent an apology to the other person.
Bonus is my character stayed logged in so the other person completed the bombing run for me.
http://wowwebstats.com/kim1bl5md2f1y?s=75173-91469&a=x270ad0 is the wws parse from a patchwerk attempt. I'm Dinnia and I was supposed to be soak tanking. I mauled him at one point for 93 THOUSAND damage. The attempt went to shit while everyone tried to figure out what the fuck happened, it was glorious.
Well, applied to raid Naxx with a new guild, invited to trial with them this week, we'll see how that goes. But one of their questions on the application form is "Are you a retard? If yes please explain." Apparently I acquitted myself quite well on that question, though as I was browsing some of the other applications, I found how one hunter answered it:
Are you a retard? If yes please explain.
LOL
And that's the way to make good first impressions.
My last guild had "Chicken or the egg?" as a question on their application, can't remember how many times people responded along the lines of "chicken because I don't like eggs."
none of the darkmoon cards at 80 look like terribly good tank trinkets. maybe if greatness had stamina on there. agility is nice but its not exactly my primary stat as a warrior
but I'm only looking at 3 right now. are there more? (death, greatness, illusion)
I felt really bad when I did this because I was absolutely the only 80 in Elwynn and I thought there would be more people like me there to hand in decks but no it was just a 72 getting a Jubjub and then some lowbies who were very confused and astounded
well I don't feel bad about staying awake because I'm awake because I was watching The Prestige and that's a really good movie

It would only be +90 passive anyway. +300's a non-controllable proc, which would increase your max. health, but not give you the health.

Flightpaths in Northrend are just so expensive compared to Outland or Vanilla. It is pretty silly.

That said, I'd totally go for that trinket if I could get one.
Luckily, it's just the AH mule and an alt so far.
Must be something with an addon or a setting. The latest one was in Orgrimmar, and I was there not 20 minutes ago with my mage.
Are there any alternatives?
edit: ...it's not Auctioneer.
Bonus is my character stayed logged in so the other person completed the bombing run for me.
Mage in Orgrimmar: worked.
Bank alt in Orgrimmar: crash.
etc etc.
I just disabled all addons and re-enabled them three at a time. Now they're all enabled and I can log in without crashing. o_O

That's because it is a completely stupid question to ask.
Thus, it's a retard asking you if you're retarded. The only correct response is a humorous or (best) a sarcastic one.
