So, I work at a Starbucks inside a Target on Black Friday. From 7AM to 9PM. We open at 6AM.
There are three things I kind of want:
XBox 360 Pro(60gbHDD) + game + $50 gift card for $299.
Kodak MX1063 for $89
Westinghouse 26" 720p HDTV LCD with two HDMI ports. SK-26H730S. $299.
Plus a ten percent discount on all of those.
Are these actually good deals?
My boss said I could probably be there at 4:30 and safely get tickets. I might plan on showing up an hour earlier. Waiting isn't a huge deal, I have a book I'm eager to read, and a gigantic and horrendously comfortable collapsible chair. Plus, the ticket is good until eight, so I can just go home afterwards and come back in right before my shift to pick the stuff up.
My problem is, I can't decide if these are good enough to go out for. Does anyone have experience with the camera or the TV brand/model? Is 720p good enough for a 26" that I'll want to play 360 on and use my laptop with for internets/WoW/graphic design?
PS: There was also a Lexmark printer/scanner/copier for $40, which I was considering getting, but I heard Lexmarks are terrible. True or false?

Not sure if that's the 10% you're referring to or not, but I'm just throwing that out there...

This is going to depend on what you're looking for from the camera. From what I can find, this camera has decent image quality but very basic features. In particular, it sounds like it doesn't handle scenes with a lot of motion very well, or low light situations without the flash. Personally, I'd opt for a better (read: more expensive) camera that can handle a wider variety of picture-taking situations, but that's just me. At least this one is a good deal, the camera retails for $140+ in most places.
That's a nice price for a 26" HDTV, but I wouldn't buy a Westinghouse personally. I can't find any reviews for this particular model, but reviews for other similar Westinghouse models reveal some serious horror stories. Crackling sound, TVs locking up and requiring a power cycle, and a complete lack of support from Westinghouse. Maybe it's a good TV and you'd never need to rely on Westinghouse's poor customer service. I wouldn't risk it personally. Samsung and Vizio are solid go-to brands for budget LCD HDTVs. Vizio actually lets customers post reviews right on the corporate website, which I've never seen a manufacturer do before. Maybe they censor them, I don't know, but the reviews for models comparable to that Westinghouse unit, the VA26L and VW26L, are pretty good. Any Black Friday deals on those?
True. Just browse the user reviews for Lexmark printer at CNet. Horror stories abound. HP and Canon printers tend to be decent.
It seems to be the best black Friday deal for a 360 out of any store (even if it's only $10 less than most offers) so I might as well pick one up if I get the TV and the Camera. Which I'm not sure about any more. And I slept in today anyway, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get up at three AM knowing I have to work from 7 to 9.
The lego game can indeed be that bad. Doesn't do you any good now, but on Veteran's day Dell had a coupon code that knocked 15% off the price of that bundle and free shipping. Maybe keep an eye on dell coupon codes?
I wouldn't buy a Westinghouse. I've found that all the super budget brands like that (notable exception:Vizio) lack picture adjustment settings. A friend of mine bought a 42" Westinghouse about a year ago and asked me to come over and adjust the picture right. When I got there I was horrified to find that the menus on that tv only let you pick from news, movie, and sports. No fine controls anywhere. Also the vga input would only accept 800x600 and then scale it up to the tvs native res.
Will that discount work on game systems? Way back in highschool when I worked at Target it did not and other places that I've worked at over the years have been the same way.
If that 10% off works, then that's a pretty good deal right there. Then take the $60 giftcard and he can get a game that he wants for it.
CUZ THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE MIDDLE AND IT'S GIVING ME A RASH
Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda are what the 360 pro comes with standard. Don't count that as part of the super special black friday pricing. They've been packaged together like that for a month or two at least.
it is however just a holiday deal
