Good stuff in the blog and pics, I love reading travel blogs. If I were you, I'd hope for a nice partly cloudy day to do the bulk of your DC tourist stuff. The stroll up and down the National Mall to visit the all the museums and otherwise notable buildings you aren't allowed in is a very sun-drenched one (especially if your kick off your day with a nice wait in line to get Washington Monument tickets).
I am going to pick up a portable HDD for Flippy to carry along on his travels. It will be loaded with both of our music collections. Any future hosts are expected to do the same, and then Flippy will mail the HDD back to me after he gets home and sorts through it.
Sound like a plan?
Uh... make sure you get an enormous HDD.
Flippy's riding on Grayhound, right? Do they have room for a mainframe on there?

I've lived here for 24 of my 29 years and have never felt the need to go up the Monument.
Yeah I wouldn't bother with the monument unless there is no line. (I went it was nice and all, but not really worth a wait) The Smithsonian/Metro is nice though.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.
Love the blog! As an American who managed to see most of the country before moving to Canada 6 years ago, it'll be a fun way for me to remember the good, bad, and ugly of my original home. Too bad you didn't swing up here, though. We'll cry maple syrup-laden tears for your oversight.

I think you underestimate the music collections of forum goers. I've got 50GB myself. And I still have a lot to convert.

Well, maybe someone can spend some time filtering out duplicates and such. I will be putting a txt file at the root of my directory giving a brief description of the organization of my collection, and already I see Flippy and I have a lot of overlap.

I've got 100G. And I lost at least that much in a drive crash.
Of course, I'm guessing there will be a lot of overlap.
The ideal, if I were getting involved in that part, would just to contribute some portion to the collective whole. Pick some things and let the overall library mature over the course of his travels.
everyone throwing their whole library at flippy might be a bit overwhelming.. why not pick some favorites + a couple more that you think he might like, keep it somewhat personal eh?

I think I'll restrict it to one complete album (if no other songs from it have already been uploaded). I hate breaking albums up, even if there is one song I don't care for as much as the others.

Well, if you've ever flown in or out of Reagan it's pretty much the same thing. But there isn't much to do in DC before 10am so getting in line a bit before 8 and waiting in line for an hour isn't a terrible loss of time or anything. Alternatively, you can wait in line for Holocaust Museum main exhibit tickets (or if you're a fireman, policeman or federal employee you can walk in anytime and get a ticket).

Yep. 65 GB here, so between you and me, we've already knocked out 1/5th of that hard drive.
Edit: I like the idea of just adding a handful of personally chosen albums. You like Linkin Park, right Flippy?
It's okay man... I've got some hardcore Good Charlotte that you'll totally dig.

Hey Flippy it would appear from your map you plan on stopping at some point in east tennessee. If that is the case and you plan on stopping in Knoxville (for whatever reason, we really don't have anything to see) I have a tempurpedic queen size bed with your name on it. Hooker optional.
I'd like to check out the spy museum, if we could squeeze that in Thursday or Friday that'd be tops.
The holocaust museum, on the other hand, I have no real desire to go to.
I haven't paid to do the indoors portion of the spy museum (I heard the exhibit was kind of lame), but they just started doing this thing called spy around the city where you get this weird looking GPS thingy with a screen. It takes you around Constitution Ave (and parts just North) making you solve this faux international espionage case which gets you walking around a part of DC most people don't see. If you're lucky, the FBI police will ask you some questions about why you're wandering around their building with a bulky screen and antenna. It was pretty corny but a good way to spend an hour or so on a nice day (and cheap! don't let them talk you into renting more than one device)

help me move there.
Well, my method was to meet this really nice Canadian fellow on the Internet and get really tired of the back and forth plane fare, decide to move up here and try to get a work permit. They didn't like that plan at the border, though, and only gave me a three month visitor permit so we got a marriage licence and had a lovely wedding on the back balcony of our apartment a month before my visitor permit expired. Six years later I'm happily married and a Canadian citizen, but your mileage may vary!

Hey flippy I hope you're enjoying the sights of philly, because you're going to be in for immense disappointment if you're expecting something decent out of baltimore.

Sirtoons called. We did the Aquarium while waiting, but Flippy started feeling ill. He wore himself out yesterday, and didn't have much energy today. I think they were going back to Sirtoons so Flippy could rest.
