This thread is pretty stupid. I mean, if a heroin addict gets off the smack cold turkey, he will die, and programs that use other chemicals tend to just sidegrade addicts into equally destructive types of addiction. Prescription heroin for junkies isn't a bad idea at all.

The system is that you go to a special clinic and can pay to be given high-quality heroin using clean equipment, not that they just prescribe it like other drugs that you pick up at the pharmacy.

There's a few methadone clinics here in Victoria, connected to pharmacies like Shopper's Drug Mart and Pharmasave. They do not tell a lot of stories of people who manage to complete the methadone program, and that sucks really really badly. They do have some stories of people who almost finish, then go back to heroin, then die from overdose; and how most people stay on it their entire life, trying and failing to work down the mg ladder.
I lived in motherfucking Switzerland for 4 years. And while they've got bureacracy, immigration and crime nailed, they can be pretty fucking retarded with some things.

I'd like to point out that this information is not new and that marijuana use does not cause schizophrenia, but brings it out. Hence, you are only at risk of psychosis if you are carrying latent schizophrenia, which may well erupt from many other causes than a bad marijuana high.
It's always nice when you have something to scare the kids though!
