Are they any fan initiatives to remake Fallout 1 yet? That would be kinda neat.

As much as the NMA people idolize fallout, I can't say the years have been kind to it. I think it has the worst inventory system ever. I also remember the world being alot richer, but going back to it the NPCs are all kinda flat and lifeless. I think bringing the world into 3d would give it a chance to have alot more detail. Plus if they kept the ending, it would be the first game made with the fallout 3 engine that had a decent ending.

Has anyone downloaded the Mini-Nuke radius mod? It's freaking fun to fire the Fat-Man and get hit even if you aimed it a mile away. It looks pretty much a real mini-nuke explosion.

And on the topic of mods, are there are any plans on a giant overhaul for Fallout? Anything like OOO for Oblivion? I've seen the Martigen Spawn mods and they're great, I'm experiencing some slowdown though.

Probably nothing as extensive, since Fallout 3 is, well, better than Oblivion, and thus needs less fixing.

I've been going around in a nice set up gear till now. Vances longcoat, shady hat, and lucky sunglasses...

I've finally done the Reiley's rangers quest, and good as the amour is, I'm having difficulty forcing myself to upgrade to it.

Its got like four times the damage resistance, but I lose a point of perception and charisma, and frankly it just doesn't look as cool...

I think Ranger armor is the best non-power armor protection in the game.

Me, personally, I downloaded a mod that lets you get power armor training when you become friends with the outcast, and walk around in my slick as fuck black power armor pretending I'm some kinda stealth super techno assassin ninja

It is pretty much the best armor. Most of the power armors only have 40 DR. Tesla Armor has 43 DR. The ranger armor has 39 DR. The only one with much better DR is the T-51b power armor. It has 50 DR, but it can only be repaired by NPCs. It also weighs a lot and doesn't increase your strength.

Oh yeah, the ranger armour is definitely best non power armour in terms of damage resistance.

I just think it looks dorky. Plus reiley's rangers are lame next to talon company.

I'm using vance's longcoat instead of that for the perception and charisma boost. Plus the weight of worn apparel effects stealth, so my fashionable four pound coat picks up another few points there, since I'm a sneaky snipey guy.

Only reason I don't wear the ranger armor is it weighs 27, which is 27 less loot I can carry.

    I love having loot!

My klepto unarmed character was like that. I can go out with less than 10 weight and come back with 290 pounds of crap! Why do I need over 100 bottles of Nuka Cola and 100 shot glasses? Who knows?

You've got to prioritize man. You need at least a 10 to 1 ratio of caps to weight for the loot to be worthwhile. Scavvin' ain't easy. 8-)
I can easily quick travel to my home in megaton. Most dungeons don't have that much worthwhile loot and I repair everything I can we I find it so I usually have enough room to just pick up some random crap. Of course, it doesn't really matter now that I have an insane amount of caps.

The merchants I have access to have bugger all caps whenever I go speak to them so I can't even sell all my scavenged loot, plus I only have the bottlecap mine schematic despite having enough parts to make hundreds of the other custom weapons. I've just started squireling all my loot around the wastelands. I have caches full of crap. I started off using the lady's restroom lockers in megaton which was my home before getting an actual home, but now I've got bins and whatnot all over the wasteland with tonnes of crap crammed into them.

Now that I have an actual proper home I guess I will barter some of the stuff for the home upgrades since Moira doesn't have nay actual caps to give me for any of it.

    I think Molerats are worse.

I mean, you see a red marker running towards you in the wasteland, you assume " OH FUCK ITS A PACK OF YAO-GUAI "

Only to turn towards the market, crouched, with your most powerful and best repaired weapon drawn, to see a fucking molerat lumbering towards you, which literally dismembers with a single freaking bullet to the head.

So for mods do I just drag the .mce file into the main F3 directory? And if I want to remove it add the uninstall file as well?

Is it also safe to assume that detonating the megaton bomb will..er.. 'remove' the quest givers there?

You need to put the mod files in the Data folder inside the Fallout 3 directory and then activate them in the "data files" option in the launcher. Most mods have installation guides in a txt file, look there if anything special needs to be done aswell.

I did Vault 92 last night. It was pretty interesting, but I crashed two or three times while I was there. It seemed to happen shortly after I listened to an audio diary, so I just collected them all and listened after I had left.

I’ve also started finding grenades with diminished CND in my inventory. I haven’t yet had a “broken” one, but I typically have one or two grenades that are damaged, which is weird. I don’t bother getting them fixed by merchants, though.

If you’re finding that your Wasteland business partners are short on caps, try waiting a few days between visits; in my experience, the longer you wait the more money they have. Also, if you invest in the wandering merchants (by talking to Uncle Roe in Canterbury Commons), the stock they have will improve, and they’ll have more money. And bear in mind that you’ll probably end up with more money than you can spend, so go ahead and splurge on improvements and themes for your home.

Regarding armour: Ranger is definitely the best non-powered. For powered armour, don’t forget the medic set – iirc, it had 45 DR when I found it.
I really wish you could bump into mercenaries who aren’t already dead, either as allies or enemies – if only to put some of the cooler “light” armour in your path earlier.
Why is it that I can wear biker goggles with a combat helmet (or eyebot helmet!) but not with the metal helmet?
Oh, and I was very happy to find the
    Vault 77 jumpsuit
in Paradise Falls. The audio note with it was cute, too.

Playing a melee/explosives character means that I use a lot of drugs and booze, so I get addicted a lot. I thought it would be a drag, but it’s kind of fun to go riffling through a dead man’s pockets looking for alcohol rather than weapons or ammo.

I think that has more to do with the screwed up accuracy of the guns. I mean, sure I know guns won't be accurate over long distance, but come on..I've seen bullets leave my barrel at like a 45 degree angle on a short range shot that atkes like like 7 feeet away from my cursor.

What might help is if you prune your savegames folder. I had the same issue; perfect performance for over a week, and then crashes became fairly regular. Looking at my save folder, I noticed I'd saved about 1800 times. Given I wouldn't even be looking at 95% of these ever again, I deleted all but about 50. Performance improved once again, and has remained stable since.
