My DK's name is Kãin, I've yet to encounter a problem with it.
I generally group with friends, and they tend to get me on their friends list asap so they don't have to remember alt + 0227, but they love to give me shit about it on vent =P
Doing a little mining on my baby DK when I see:
[1.General][Hottyhotty]:LFG ramps!"
please please please, I know this is Outlands which means its like 90% chance of it being a dk, but please let it be a druid.

Coming to a server near you in Cataclysm: Hairycaray, the Tauren Paladin.
Ugh. Did you really have to do that?

I don't remember the exact name, but I ran into a player whose guild name was something like, <You gank me and I get my main>. To make things extra sad, I'm on a PvE server.
[edit] Crap, I put "PVP" originally instead of "PVE".
Did you try petitioning a GM about it? We have a couple people who have gotten their names "back" if it's reserved by an inactive account. Worth a shot at least.
I should try that. I've had to use "Zaithon" for the past year and a half.

I ran into a DK named "Arthias". I checked the armory, and yep, there's pretty much a Paladin or DK named "Arthias" on every realm. They must get a record number of /facepalms.

Saw a Sephirothh last night. Kinda surprised, that's almost as unique as the original Sephiroth... only a single letter difference is a pretty big accomplishment.
Why does nearly every goddamn death knight I see feel the need to add "dk" somewhere in the name? Do people perhaps mistake them for a priest?
I'm going to assume they're unoriginal people who had a main everyone knew them by so when they could make a new toon they just tagged dk to the name they always used.

I like it how he thinks there's someone lamer than him.
I was just thinking about this. Have any of you guys ever seen a character with the original Sephiroth? No stupid extra characters or accents, but just the name? Same with other popular names? I don't think I've ever seen someone with an original name in-game.
We've been looking at the upcoming Guild Achievements for Cataclysm, and while details are scarce, our official guild is pretty much just a bunch of us from work who happen to be level eighty, while our raiders (myself and a rogue) tend to pug along with another guild we've allied with.
We desire these delicious guild achievement buffs, so we've talked about possibly starting a splinter group for raiding, taking our <Breakfast Champions> guild name and running with it at 1 AM.
<Brunching Verdict> was one of the favorites, as was <Breakfast Crusade>.
See, I'm like a shark, I just gotta keep making terrible names.
spell power used to be really good for all types of paladins.
just run through HFP, the first place many brand new DKs do quests outside of the starting zone, and count how many spell power plate quest rewards there is.
you can quickly realize why DKs can get confused as to what to use.

It's not always the player that's automaticly an idiot. Not everyone reads forums and researches for their fun time.
DK's for one could definitely be explained better as your making them, and stats in general could as well.

Blizzard has done a poor job of tutoring the player. And I think that is part of why they are removing so many stats with 4.0. They know they have done a poor job of tutoring and have decided to remove much of the unnecessary complication that comes from having all of those stats.

The DK starting area has about two choices in it. The first is "What type of weapon do you want?" The next is "What trinket do you want?"
And then they get catapulted into Hellfire and all of a sudden its like "HERE ARE 6 QUEST REWARDS TO CHOOSE FROM PICK NOW! 5. 4. 3. 2. 1. Times up! LEEEEROOOY JENKIIINS"
The brand new DK is like "Well uhh shit uhhh. I guess I use plate this one is plate I will equip it."
The first quests rewards they get are "Hey this one is blue that other one I have is green . These quests rewards are obviously well thought out and I should just use whatever I am given."
It is more of a problem endemic of different design policies and changes in game mechanics through expansions. The WotLK quests and rewards are good, and the DK starting zone is the best there is. Then the Death Knight has to, for all intents and purposes, go backwards in design progression and wade through this spell power plate that at one point was actually OK for one class.
Didn't you need to own a high level toon before you're even allowed to make a death knight? I guess blizzard assumed people would have known a thing or two about stats and how they work before they would make a death knight.
And the plate in BC that doesn't have SP or Int, has Agi on it.
Last night in Ony 10 there was a DK weilding Marrowstrike (not in and of itself bad) who also had 3 +16 agi gems.
On the topic of names, there is, or at least was, a paladin on my server named simply: Me

Worst thing about guild names like that is that they aren't even original bad. They are bad ripoffs of a rather bad idea.
I also found that guild name pretty funny.

I know they exist. It's just weird how you never see them in-game. You always see the variations of the name, but never the original.

To be fair some of them do gem/gear for SP. It's easy to mistake....
I get asked to heal way more often than I should.
I'm rather fond of the "Lobster Rage Fist" guild that's recently begun showing up on server, as irrational as it is.
Thinking about it, those might be the same people who used SP Mail on their Hunters. And SP Plate on the Ret paladins.
