So I was hit with a Red Ring today

Just one. On the bottom left. My error code is E74. After confirming that another video cable didn't work either I found that my "hidden" error code was 1022. Anyone with experience dealing with a broken 360 know just how fucked I am?

I don't know about hidden error codes but my understanding of 360s says that you are probably under warranty for this and will only be out of commission for a week or two.

edit - Oh wait just one light. That is hardly a ring at all! How can you expect me to read your actual post?

Internet says there is a do-it-yourself fix you can try if you're past warranty.

The 3-year warranty only covers the 3 red rings I believe. I got this 360 for Christmas last year, so even if it's covered for a year I may still be out of luck depending on when it was purchased. Hell, I don't know if I even registered my warranty or whatever (do you have to register the warranty?)

There is high chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. In some cases it is a problem with the GPU and may be repairable by doing the x-clamp replacement (see error 0102)

    x-clamp tutorials - good luck!

They should be able to look up the purchase date when you give them the serial number, and will be able to tell you if it's still under warranty. You don't have to actually register the console anymore; that's all take care of when you buy it.
