Hey guys. I have a z-5500 logitech sound system, and I want to be able to set it up at college, AND at home, for when I travel back and forth for holidays. Respooling the wire everytime is a much bigger hassle than pulling the wire out of the back, so I figured i'd just get some replacement wire to have on hand both places.
However, it's all weird and complicated! Can I get it at Best Buy? Order it offline is cheaper? What is this "gauge" nonsense? help!

If it's just the speaker wire you want to replace, and there aren't any special plugs on the speaker wires, you should be able to go to radio shack and buy a spool of speaker wire and cut it to lengths and strip the ends and be done with it. Gauge refers to the diameter of the conductor, the uh, capacity of the speaker wire if you will. You should be fine with 20 gauge for the satellites. Make sure whatever wire you get has a marker on one of the sides, so you can keep the positive/negative straight. You DO NOT need oxygen free copper wires or any fancy shit, it's all the same.
plain old 18 gauge speaker wire works well. don't spend too much on wire either.
