FFV has a more advanced/fun job system, but FFIII has fantastic presentation (and certainly isn't unfun because it's simpler).
FFV is cheaper, but it's also basically the same as we've seen it before with more jobs. FFIII is the "missing link" of Final Fantasy, the one that never appeared anywhere else, and its higher production values probably justify the higher price.
[spoiler:b4b72fca26]Yeah, get both.[/spoiler:b4b72fca26]
I decided to be a rebel and make Ingus a blackmage. Though I can't really see Arc as anything else but a whitemage. Speaking of which, do whitemages ever get to use any weapons of ANY kind?
I CAN see the appeal of making Refia use stabbity implements. I'm tempted to do that myself.
Also, before I go to bed, I'm going to make a quick and dirty Refia sig and avatar. Question though, does anyone know precisely how I could go about setting up a rotating sig and avatar?

Going by previous FF games, White Mage will likely eventually get to use a Staff weapon.
And for you guys who were downcasting Monk earlier, bad idea. They gain attack power with every job level. My Warrior with dual mythril blades has an attack power of 34 right now. But my Monk went from a level 24 attack at job level 1 to 32 at job level 5. Warrior hasn't budged an inch from job level 1.
well, i tried to send mail to harvest, but i think he has to be online to recieve it because after i wrote out that message, i had to choose who to send it to and his friend code was greyed out and would not let me select it.
Kinda lame if thats the case

So I got this and put about five hours into it. I stand by my earlier statements that IGN's review is fair, and is a reasonable assessment of the game's good and bad points. However, I also happen to be in love with the thing. It's... I dunno, adorable seems like the best word. I have no idea if the original was like this or if it's the result of the bobblehead characters, but the end result is just endlessly charming.
Ummm...I'm a little confused...what's this gray down arrow next to two of my characters names (where the status effect symbols usually are...except these seem to be permanent...or I just have no idea what the fuck they are...I assume they are killing some stats). Really annoying.
Hey Rikatix in the manual it says that after we both enter the friend code for the other person, "both [...] must select "A Faraway Friend" in the Moghouse menu." So... lets do it.

ah sweet, it worked this time, too bad my message didnt send the first time...it took me like 4 minutes thanks to the shoddily placed space button
edit: i am also suprised that there is no way to name your friend codes, i think they could have made this a really fun aspect of the game.

The gray down arrow indicates that your characters in the 'job transition' phase. After a few fights it will go away and they'll gain job experience normally.
Who else made Arc their white mage? His mannerisms just cried out "I'm no fighter!" to me.
Arc is a total mystery to me. The game says he's a he, but he does not look anything like a he. He doesn't even move like a he. It's like they originally had the character down to be a second girl character but changed it at the last minute.
Edit: Whoops redundancy
I think i definitely named Arc "Bitch" because I thought he was a girl. The others: Dom, Marcus, Cole.

Man, I forgot about the one thing I cannot stand in old school rpgs. Unwinnable fights.
I got to the top of [spoiler:bda5de9f16]the mountain outside Canaan, and of course, the fight with what appears to be Bahamut starts. I assume it's one of those "fight until you die" things, and then it turns out I was wrong...I guess I was supposed to run or something? I assumed I couldn't[/spoiler:bda5de9f16]

Yeah, but I just assumed I couldn't *actually* run, but rather that once beaten, the game would dump me into a running away cutscene, as was typical of games back in the day.
edit: does anyone know how job levels are gained? Luneth hit like, level 13 freelancer, while everyone else was only level 5 or 6, and even since they all started jobs at the same time, some people are advancing far faster (Reifa seems to be taking forever to gain levels as a thief)
I think you gain more job levels for using associated abilities of that job, or at least by acting in battle...essentially, if you're a slow class and the first three characters always end the fight before it gets to you, you'll fall behind in job levels.
For example, [spoiler:f8cecac94a]the FF3 guide at GFAQs says that the Viking, being a slow class, will likely fall behind for this reason, but the Provoke command takes first precedence as if he acted first, getting him some job XP.[/spoiler:f8cecac94a]

Fred Meyer has it for $5 cheaper, but Circuit City offers a free FFIII skin.
Can I get it price matched at CC so's I can have my cake and eat it, too?

I have Final Fantasy III in my DS at the moment... I also have Final Fantasy V in my DS.
Dual wielding FOR THE WIN.
I think i definitely named Arc "Bitch" because I thought he was a girl. The others: Dom, Marcus, Cole.
My understanding was that the DS doesn't enforce region locking, but publishers still have the option to.
I'd like confirmation from someone please!

This grey haired person you start with? Dude or chick? I named him locke you see... so if its a chick I have to start over.
Dude, although my eyes beg to differ.
Who likes Frolicing through forests. Stupid gamboling.
Though he does seem like the dainty dancing type.
I just looked that up because until now I could have sworn they made that up.
I just gained 2xp in vocabulary. Yay me!
