    Yeah they would get raped.

Unless of course it meets the overwhelming force quota in which case you could mass probably scouts and still win with enough sheer numbers.

A smaller mixed fleet would rape it. Especially one with the aoe advent cap ship. Goodbye all fighters.

Flak frigates are good against fighters but not particularly good against bombers. So if you're making lots of bombers (which counter heavy cruisers), the only counter is fighters.

Anyway, the counter to flak frigates is the light frigate, so it shouldn't be too hard to counter his counter, if you are indeed massing fighters.

Is there any way to prevent your worlds from being taken over culturally? Do I have to just build my own radio stations or whatever they're called.

There's another way, but it's not convenient. Worlds on which your capital ships are stationed do not lose allegiance. This can help slow down the enemy's culture, but it's just a stop gap, and its prevents you from using your ships offensively.

I was never one for cultural victories. I tend to attack everyone until my people hates me, wait a few turns, then attack again, repeating the process until I've won.

Same for Sins. Culture is for the wussy (like the advent). I only build culture buildings to push back enemy culture so I can capture their planets.

By the way, I played my first game as the advent not long ago. What the hell? I guess fighters after two labs is nice, but their LRM is weird and they get no research to boost their trade ports, and no refineries. The advent economy sucks. Plus, it seems like there's way too many tech levels where an additional lab doesn't give you much, and you have to add two labs if you want to make a meaningful jump in tech. This never happens as the Vasari, every level is important.

    Culture is for the smart.

I can take your planets from you without even building a single combat ship.

It's so easy to ignore and miss that I've had games where I've had my enemies running around fixing their own mess of an economy too much to even notice me encroaching.

Halving all their resources without even moving to touch their shit is great.

If they just stare at you while your culture spreads, sure. But it only takes a few second to raid a planet and get rid of what bothers them. If you spend on culture, you must be behind in military tech, in which case your enemy has stronger ships, or in economy, in which case he has more of them.

Might work if you're dark green because the culture lines are really hard to see.

EDIT: I'll add to my previous post and say that all of the advent civic tree is pure shit. It just seems like there's nothing useful in there (save for a few resource researches and the trade port research), unless you focus on culture, in which case you will probably lose anyway.

Vasari all the way. I can jump anywhere (faster than you can) and summon instantaneous reinforcements to any position, as well as see every ship as they phase jump.

Advent culture is advent military tech. Utilising them both is the key to victory with advent. Their ships gain all kinds of preposterously huge bonuses for raiding shit in a gravity well with friendly culture. Which is why the Advent ultimate weapon fires culture. You can heal ships, do extra damage, move faster etc.

You dont sacrifice one for the other. They are the same.

Building a culture mast is painless, and the new Advent starbases come with it ready built in.

So, who all has Entrenchment? We should organize a game sometime.

I think I'll try Vasari against some computers now. Holy shit I'm going to fail so hard, I can't handle anything other than TEC, and I always fail.

Of course, It's usually DoA that kills me, so, yeah.

You must be ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE to play.

I'm available from around 10:30 EST onward, and we could probably space out the game over several days.

I just got sins a few days ago and I've managed to lose 3 games against the normal ai already. I'm horrible, but I'd love a multiplayer game.

I'm GMT (-6) and might be busy early after work for an hour or two with EVE corporations, but yea....I want to play!

How do I get in contact, or what should I install. Let me know and I'll set it up at least to play in the near future.

Yeah, the advent can attack one of my planets, as I summon instant reinforcements from every planet and phase jump them to save this one. Meanwhile I phase jump my fleet to a planet on the opposite side of your empire, raid your planet and let the space egg recoup some of the costs of my defense.

You'll make good slaves. After proper reconditioning, of course. :p

Also, Vasari ships > Everything. Meet my friend the overseer, which allows me to slow down ships phase jumping to the planet I'm attacking. Meet my friend the subverter, which completely incapacitates ships with his ability. Meet my friend the enforcer, which just ruins your shit.

    Vasari all the way.

Right-Click on the Move Icon when you have a fleet selected. It will rotate between "Some Grouped, "All Grouped" and "None Grouped" I believe.

So I figured out what my problem was (relating to this game), I was sending out scouts in all directions in the beginning of the game, which meant I was making contact with everyone at the beginning of the game. So as I made contact with the 5 other factions, they all wanted me to do something for them 6 jumps away which was a totally unreasonable distance for anything but the 1 scout I sent out there...

Edit: well at least it delayed them until they found me it seems. Now I only have half the CPU sending me missions.

If you Lock Teams, they don't send you any requests at all, and they'll never ally against you. It's quite refreshing, really.

On a side note, I seem to suck when I try to start Advent up by going military over civic. Sure, I get better shields and guardians out of the deal, but I also end up with a struggling economy. If I go civic, I can at least have 2 caps and enough money to reach the Deliverence Engine pretty easily.

    What am I doing wrong?
