    Yeah I have the icey touch sigil (the venture coin one right?) I just wanted another sigil. But I could save up and grab the dodge trinket. I'm still running Loken for the def trink and that damn spider won't drop ma trink (I had an AN run that couldn't get past the first boss, dps just wasn't there and they all blamed the healer natch I really get tired of raiders running their alts through heroics and they can't hit above 800 dps).

    yea, i'm running out of stuff to do on my DK tank.

    I run 10 man naxx each week for the defense trinket that i have never seen drop.

    I run 25 man naxx each week for the sigil i have never seen drop, and the emblems of valor.

    I tank 5 mans everyday. I have like 670 emblems of heroism (total...not on me).

    I bought all the blue pvp gear and gemmed and enchanted it.

    I have a dps set that is as good as any dps set pre naxx (2pc T7 and 5man epics)

    I run arenas on monday nights with a druid, and i try to do wintergrasp everyday. I'll save up all that honor and all those arena points for next season when i can buy the epic pvp gear with no rating.

    I do the kalu'ak (sp?) dailies for that epic fishing pole and the penguin pet. My fishing is at zero btw, i can't even equip it when i get it.

    and i spam trade saying that i'll tank any 5 man in the game for 100g (this usually doesn't get me a lot of "popular points")

    It's a good racket if you can do it. I'm told I do a great job tanking but I still look for pointers on a wipe ( I guess its the internal what are we doing wrong it must be me type stuff).

    Though I hate people who lie about doing stuff, if you claim to have run heroic UK before yet when the last boss dies you get the achievement your a fucking liar. Oh and ranged when I say stack up I MEAN EVERYONE YES YOU RETARD! GHARHARHARHARH

    Sorry if it seems like I'm whining I try not to. I have a lot of time to play normally, I just am not being lucky with drops and my guild is kind of the suck I'm on Kul Tiras which is a central time server and I'm pst so it affects my raid times.

    I did get to run sarth no drake and tank it and did a good job eventually (the portal intrigued my childish mind and I had to click it to the detriment of the raid).

    I'm still establishing friends lists and such, but after the weekend I made a couple really solid connections that will hopefully snag me more runs.

    I play with people that have much less interest in the game than you do. And don't ask any questions, and make me angry on a daily basis, but somehow have all the best gear.

    oh man, I picked up corpse explosion in unholy a while ago, and have been using on trash in nax a lot, it is a lot of fun. However the 3 other DK (yes we have 4 unholy dks in 10 man...... very little plate dps gear seems to drop as it is, now have 4 people roll on it...) all saw my trash DPS and figured they all needed to get it to.
    So annoying, because what I found a very fun ability to use every fight, I can no longer use it as often since other 3 dks are using it also.. And their dps hasn't changed

    I am very tempted to give other specs a shot, mainly a dual weild spec, or a frost dps spec to see how they compare.

    speaking of sarth....i joined a 25 man pug that needed a tank this weekend, then they gave me assist, then i invited like 5 of my good friends, and we somehow took over the run and forced a sarth +1 drake. IT was pretty funny.

    a frost dps spec is pretty amazing on trash...i hear a DW spec with howling blast (which is prolly the only DW spec) is REALLY good with trash.

    thats where i get all my dps. I do 5k on trash pulls and like 2k on bosses. It averages out nice in the end. especially as a tank.

    Oh ok heh I think I'm too skiddish with groups, anytime I wipe I'm the first guy to ask if I'm doing it wrong. I hope groups don't think I don't know what I'm doing, its just that when a wipe happens I want to know if I'm moving wrong or not avoiding a thing.

    it's a pally with a glyph thing.

    Some glyph they have causes excess healing on multiple targets with a specific spell as a result of this glyph. They just stand there and spam it.

    Basically it comes down to a few factors.

    The damage from lightning nova is considerably less if the entire group takes it (~12k if everyone takes it, and about ~16k if only partial). In addition the further you are away from Loken the more damage the group will take from a Aura-style dot. Assuming everyone has 12k+ health (for the tank hopefully quite a bit more), taking the lightning nova is easier for the healer to manage if they are a spike healer (Shamans, Priests, Paladins). If you have more HoTs than you know what to do with (Druids) then you may want to run out from the Lightning Nova.

    I have always stayed in for the Nova but then again, I'm the tank and I almost always have a shaman healing me.

    if you all move away from loken as a group...no one takes any damage at all. since you are all together, the dot thing doesn't hit anyone. there is a sweet spot between his AOE max range, and the distance you have to stay within before you take damage from getting to far away.

    BUT WHATEVER. Loken is a horrid fight. Your latency plays more of a role than your skill or gear.

    I was glad I got from heroic anything I might have wanted, though dodging his lightening worked out best for everyone (even though our shaman died at the start because I have no idea). Shadow priest healed the rest.

    As I understand the Mechanics, the DoT is always ticking, its just a function of distance away from Loken that matters. Could be wrong though. I just pop CDs whenever possible to soak most of the Nova's damage.

    On my DK I take anywhere from ~9k-->~2.5k from his nova depending on what I have up.

    On my DK I take anywhere from ~9k-->~2.5k from his nova depending on what I have up.

    I can soak it with anti magic shell when its up. But honestly its short range and as long as you stack up after its not really that bad of a fight. Soaking it just seems like making up for people who can't do a little juke and roll.

    I run alot of pugs. It's easier to mash WG/Tranq and roll the hots vs making up for some dps dying because he runs out too far or not enough and can't survive the nova.

    I was running a guild group this HoL a while back and on the first lightning all 3 of our dps died. The Paladin healer and I proceeded to then duo Loken. It was one of the first tanking runs I did so it felt pretty good.

    Hehe, I've done this a few times. If your healer is smart enough to avoid the Nova, a DK can easily smoke Loken solo. Especially when you AMS and just DPS through the occasional Nova.

    Of course, I've found 3/4s of the time, it's the healer who's standing still like an idiot who dies on the first nova. I've 2 or 3 manned Loken many a time with a smart Ret Pally being my Healer.

    Yeah I had a shadow priest switch forms after the shaman got cooked. I think she was heartened by an earlier attempt where I slugged it out with loken for like 40 seconds until I succumbed to wounds.

    So... 3.1 patch notes regarding DKs.
    Death Knight (Skills List / Talent + Glyph Calc.)

    * Blood Boil’s damage increased to make up for Pestilence no longer doing damage.
    * Blood Boil now does some damage to undiseased targets and extra damage to diseased targets. Its radius has been decreased.
    * Blood Plague: Now lasts 15 seconds untalented.
    * Death Pact: This heal cannot be a critical.
    * Frost Fever: Now lasts 15 seconds untalented.
    * Pestilence does no damage and has only one rank.
    * Plague Strike and Blood Plague no longer remove hots. Plague Strike’s damage increased quite a bit to compensate.
    * Raise Ally has a >15 min cooldown to keep it out of Arena.
    * Raise Dead: Duration lowered to 60 sec. and cooldown lowered to 3 min. The cooldown on this ability now begins when the pet dies rather than when it is summoned.
    * Rune of Cinderglacier now procs per minute instead of a 5% chance.
    * Rune of Razorfrost now affects Frost damage done by the DK only, but stacks up to 10%.
    * Strangulate no longer does damage and has been reduced to 1 rank.


    Talents
    Blood

    * Blood Aura: Replaced with Improved Blood Presence. This allows the deathknight to keep the healing from damage done bonus of Blood Presence in any presence, and increases healing received while in Blood Presence.
    * Blood-Gorged now grants armor penetration instead of expertise.
    * Bloody Strikes now increases Blood Boil damage instead of Pestilence.
    * Bloodworms now heal more.
    * Dancing Rune Weapon: Fixed a bug making it trigger an unusual number of effects from the weapon equipped by the Death Knight. In addition, it will now only echo Death Knight spells whose primary purpose is dealing damage. Also corrected a bug making the effect last 8 seconds longer than intended.
    * Scent of Blood will now proc on a dodge, parry or taking damage, and internal cooldown lowered to 10 from 20 sec.
    * Sudden Doom now procs a free Death Coil instead of requiring you to push the button. Ranks reduced from 5 to 3.


    Frost

    * The following talents have moved in the Frost tree: Runic Power Mastery, Glacier Rot, Killing Machine, Chilblains, and Endless Winter.
    * Black Ice now grants 2/4/6/8/10% Shadow damage in addition to the Frost damage.
    * Black Ice: Frost Damage bonus lowered to 4/8/12/16/20%
    * Blood of the North is 3 ranks instead of 5 for the same effect.
    * Chillblains: Now a 15/30/50% movement speed debuff (up from 30%). Moved to position currently occupied by Glacier Rot.
    * Endless Winter: Moved to position currently occupied by Chillblains.
    * Frost Aura: Replaced with Improved Frost Presence. Allows the deathknight to keep the health bonus of Frost Presence in any presence, and decreases magic damage taken while in Frost Presence.
    * Glacier Rot: Third rank added, and damage bonus increased to 7/13/20. Moved to position currently occupied by Endless Winter.
    * Howling Blast: Swapped positions with Hungering Cold in the talent tree (HB is now at 51, and HC is now at 31). In addition, the damage bonus for targets with Frost Fever is now only 20%.
    * Icy Talons - This talent how has a new icon.
    * Runic Power Mastery down to 2 ranks.


    Unholy

    * Blood-caked Blade: Now has a 3 second cooldown on the effect.
    * Desecration: This talent now has a 100% chance to be triggered. Additional points in the talent increase the damage bonus and snare magnitude instead of increasing the chance.
    * Epidemic: Epidemic now has 3 ranks (adding an additional 3 sec of disease duration). Magic Suppression is 3 ranks (down from 5) for 2/4/6% magic damage reduction.
    * Master of Ghouls: Now also reduces the cooldown on Raise Dead by 60 sec.
    * Necrosis: Can now only be triggered by main hand attacks.
    * New talent: Improved Death Strike. Increases Death Strike damage by 10/20.
    * Night of the Dead: Redesigned to grant a flat reduction on cooldown to Raise Dead and Army of the Dead instead of a reduction from using abilities.
    * Outbreak bonus for Scourge Strike lowered to 10/20/30%.
    * Scourge Strike: Damage increased.
    * Unholy Aura: Replaced with Improved Unholy Presence. Allows the Deathknight to keep the movement speed bonus of Unholy Presence in any presence, and increases rune regeneration rate while in Unholy Presence.
    * Unholy Blight and Gargoyle have swapped places in the Unholy tree. Gargoyle is the new Unholy 51 talent.

    Non-specific to any trees, I see moderate nerfs and a new concept: Improved Presences.

    Blood has been slightly buffed across the board, except for Dancing Rune Weapon... an ability that still needed help lost even more of its versatility.

    As for Frost... seems like I was right regarding the Howling Blast and Hungering Cold switch, and not only that but instead of double damage, it now only does +20% extra damage. Way to completely fucking gut the ability. I'm somewhat interested in seeing the new Chillblains in action, and I definitely appreciate Blood of the North being only 3 ranks... but these changes don't even come close to compensating for reducing Black Ice's effectiveness by 33% and Howling Blast's bonus damage on targets suffering from Frost Fever by 80%.

    Unholy can offset the Raise Dead nerf, but they'd be the least affected by it anyway. The Howling Blast and Gargoyle changes, combined with the Necrosis and Blood-Caked Blade pretty much killed DW. Or at the very least crippled it. Strangely enough, Deep Unholy was left pretty much buffed when compared to Deep Frost.

    ...I'm really not looking forward to the new Frost. As a 10/51/10 Frost Tank, it seems like I'll have pretty much the same build with way less effectiveness overall. Color me fucking pissed off.

    Those changes nerfed the everloving shit out the dual wield build I was using. It was fun while it lasted but I saw this coming from a mile away so I'm already getting used to being blood spec again. The autoproc death coils from Sudden Doom and access to better aoe with Unholy Blight will be nice but I wince every time I look at some of those changes.

    Do you hear that sound? It is the sound of a million death knights all crying out at once only to be suddenly silenced.

    Next up....Howling Blast to be renamed Whispering Breeze.

    Thank god I'm still deep Unholy specced, geez. Reading the Desecration change, I wonder how much of it really changed. It is still apparently a 5% damage buff at its highest rank and a 50% movement speed reduction. Did they just change it so that the proc chance is 100% even at one rank? If that's the only change they made, that's...hm.

    As a blood spec DK the only change I see is YAY more runic power from sub-frost spec.

    Edit - And the Dancing Rune Weapon changes, I guess in some ways fixes, don't bother me a bit. Having it do damage was always the point, and I currently can't think of any spells where the primary focus wasn't damage, and an extra 8 seconds of it was cheating anyway. We're still powerful as fuck.

    So I'm guessing your party no longer benefits from Blood Aura and such (now "Improved Blood Presence")? No more speeding up your party with Unholy Aura?

    It would have been nice to see them bring 2h damage up to DW damage (they were pretty damn close already) instead of them just nerfing the crap out of DW.

    I really dig the changes.. but I don't DW.

    The sudden doom change is awesome.

    Glyph of Pestilence -- Your Pestilence ability now refreshes disease durations on your primary target back to their maximum duration.

    Looks like this is the glyph to have for Unholy. I wonder what they will do with the SS glyph.

    In any case...looks like I am back to deep unholy for dps next patch.
