Computer/Account Problems

Alright, today something strange happened with my with my computer. Its about 4 years old, Windows XP, mostly use to just browse, email, listen to music, and stuff.

I was on the computer just listening to music and stuff when it appeared to freeze up. I could move the mouse and everything but couldn't minimize or bring up any programs. I gave it a few minutes to catch up and get back to normal but it was no use. I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and went to Shut Down and Restarted the computer. After 10 minutes it was still at that screen so I manually restarted the computer.

I hold it and restart it. The computer boots up and gets to the screen where you choose which account you want to log in on and I choose my account like normal. Then a dialog box pops up and says something about the account being corrupt or something like that and that I do not have administrative right to mess with it and that I need to contact Dell technical support or something or another for more help. At this point I'm wondering what is going on so I hit the red X and restart the computer again.

It restarts, taking a little longer than usual, and I get back to the account screen. I hit my account again and it starts to load up. It eventually does load up, but it takes much longer than usual. The first thing I notice is that my background has been changed to the default Dell one. That tipped me off that something was wrong big time. So I go to open up Mozilla and my theme is the default one and not the custom one as well. Basically everything is restored to the default on Firefox.

So now I'm really wondering whats up. I go to the My Documents folder and there I see the problem. All of the files and documents in this folder have been deleted or so it appears. Now I had a good amount of stuff on there, between all my music and my schoolwork that I had saved. So I'm pretty astounded here. I talked to my brother and he said that it being windows, I might be on my account, but not truly on my account. Basically its not showing me my files because I don't have access or whatever to them because I'm not admin.

So what I'm wondering H/A is what you guys think happened here? And if it seems possible for me to get all my stuff back and if its really gone or not? I'm really looking for some help guys. Any replies are greatly appreciated.

TLDR: Windows XP. Computer froze. Manually restarted it. Logged on to Account and said it was corrupt and lacked admin access to get to it. Restared again and logged on and all my documents and folders in the My Documents Folder were gone. Help.

Do you have access to an admin account you could attempt to locate your files with? Boot up Spacemonger and see where all your space is being used, it gives you a graphical representation of your hd. You'll either see your files in some weird place, or realize that they're gone.
