I got a 20% off coupon from Dell and I'm looking to upgrade my monitor. I don't know a thing about monitor specs and whatnot. I have until 12/17 to use this coupon so I have to make a decision soon.
Is this a good one and is it worth the price? How hard would it be to set up dual monitors if I order a DVI cable too (from monoprice of course)? I'll like to get a 22" LCD for less then $250 and this one caught my eye while browsing their site.
It looks decent.. the only downside I can see is it lacks component/s-video/composite inputs which used to be common on Dell screens. They also used to come with usb ports which could be handy. If missing all that doesn't bother you, the monitor seems like a fine choice.
It's trivial getting two screens running with Windows. Plug it in and bring up display properties, you should see some new options enabled for configuring the arrangement of the screens and whether to enable them.
Well, I think Dell makes at least one monitor with a PVA panel (which would be better), but this one is TN. In this price range, that's probably all you're going to get, though, so I guess it looks fine.

Is this the same thing as on a tv? How necessary is this for a computer?
Yes. I was just noting that this screen doesn't have as many features as they used to have.. like the legendary 2005FPW.
Yeah you probably don't need a bunch of inputs if all you're using it for is a computer, but having options is never a bad thing either.
My GF's brother, who is in college, uses his monitor for his wii and computer.. saves having to hunt for room in the dorm.
