Gift idea for someone who loves gardening?

Sooo, I've already gotten my mom two Christmas gifts, but since I know she's getting me an iPod, I don't want to be a cheapskate, so I want to get her at least one other one.

My mom loves plants and gardening. Her condo looks like a goddamn rainforest. In the past, I've gotten her little potted flowers, books about flowers, interesting plant seeds, that type of stuff. This year, I was looking at the EasyBloom PlantSense, which is like a USB device that measures soil conditions and shit, but it's 60 bucks and I can't really afford that.

I can always fall back on seeds or books or potted plants, but does anyone know of a cheap (like, less than 30), nifty thing for plant-freaks?

    Follow-up questions:

Condo means she has no "yard" to speak of, or outside green area that other people won't fuck with?

Is "big" an option as long as it's somewhat cheap?

No, she doesn't have a yard. The plants are all over the apartment or on the balcony.

I guess it depends what you mean by "big", but I can't imagine size being an issue.

my mom is a big gardener and last year I got her a portabella mushroom growing kit. It is really just a big box of dirt, fertilizer and mushroom spores. Put it in a dark cool place and wait.

She absolutely loved it. She had several mushrooms grow each over a six inch diameter. Think the kit ran me about $25.

There's a Canadian company called Lee Valley that has just a ton of really nice gardening stuff. They have ten pages of recommended gift items here. I was going to recommend the hand-blown glass watering bulbs, but they're out of stock until January :/

There are some other interesting things there, though - high-quality tools, neat vases, light meters, plenty of books, and while it's a bit more than you were looking to spend, the mini greenhouse looks pretty win.

...It doesn't appear to be out of stock to me. This is perfect, thanks!

How about a subscription to a plants/flowers/gardening magazine?
