Wireless faster than wired internet - how is that possible?!
My wireless is faster than my wired internet. How is that possible?
I went to the speakeasy site and did test from my wired desktop computer and got around 6000kpbs down. I then did the test from my laptop in my living room (router is in bedroom about 75 feet away). The wireless test got around 8000kpbs down. Does that make any sense at all to anyone? Is there an explanation for that? I then tested the same laptop wired directly to the router and got 6000kpbs down, same as my desktop computer. This blows all common logic for me.
To make sure it wasn't an issue with my router I connected the cable modem directly to my desktop computer I got the same speed as with the router (6000kpbs).
Well, you're on a cable modem, so you're really sharing a line with all of your neighbors. Possibly, the rest of the network was just less active while you were testing your wireless speed?

It's a b/g modem. Not n.
Quality of the [ethernet] cable and [the] category are my guesses.
