    it's not that hard though.

You should play a harder game. Perhaps the new copy of Go Fuck Yourself.

Whoa, late to the thread. Good to see everybody enjoying this rocking ass game.

I beat expert with mostly no problems, though fuck Freya, godammit. Such a shitty song and that stupid repeating bit is painful, and I don't usually get pain from playing GH. Only others I had trouble with were Institutionalized and Freebird (took me about 10 tries), beat most songs on my first go though (including Misirlou, rock!) I'm currently attempting to 5 star Hard so I can get to know the songs a bit better before I tackle 5 starring Expert, I've done one runthrough and 5 starred most tracks (100% on a couple as well, it's nice seeing those yellow stars), 10 or so to do now, though I'm doing the bonus tracks first.

Nice work Harmonix, nice work indeed. Bring on the 360 version and GH3!

Tier 6 makes me happy in the pants. It's by far my favorite.

First play through I 5 starred all of medium. Went to hard and it's mostly 3's and a few fours. The difficulty really jumps. Rock this town and crazy on you are really tough in hard. I can't imagine expert. Your guitar-fu is much better than mine if these weren't tough for you.

All in all an awesome game. Better than 1.

I'm surprised that with all the talk about "X song is a crappy cover" that no one has mentioned "Them Bones". That was one of the worst to me. "killing in the name" and "Mother" were really bad too.

My loins ache for "Tribute" though. GH3 please!!

Killing in the name isnt bad IMO. Ending aside.

Wow, so I spent a couple hours playing through some songs on expert with the hyperspeed cheat.

    Wow.

It definately makes the game easier for me. I beat all of tier 6 fairly easily. Then I just cherry picked some songs here and there. Afterwords I was jonesin to play Cheat on the Church so I went and played it on Hard. Holy Slowness Batman. It was like playing on Easy. I beat my previous best score by like 55-60k.

I'd try more of the alternate tracks if they let you play them in quick play mode and not just in Co-Op. There HAS to be a way to do it...It makes no sense really.

If you're looking for a way to play bass/rhythm in other than coop/practice modes, don't waste your time; it ain't there.

When this first came up in design (which I generally don't get involved in, see, I'm just a lowly graphics coder), I protested. Thought it was a stupid artificial limitation.

But in the end, the "game is about the guitarist, not the band", or something like that. So there you have it. :( To a certain extent I can understand, since there isn't a full bass nor rhythm career... but I couldn't see why not at least in quickplay. Oh well... maybe the future...

So I spent about an hour last night on google, the official Guitar Hero forums, various cheat sites, and still can't find an unlock all cheat like the one in the first game, which doesn't work.

I take my guitars to a friend's bar every so often, and a bunch of my friends meet there, we rock out till 2 or 3 AM and get strangers involved. But I have a really bad habit of not remembering my memory card, so I usually use the unlock all cheat so everyone can use whatever guitar/skin/character they want.

Please tell me it's in there, Moss. Pretty please. :(

True, but then I'm at risk of forgetting it at the bar in my drunken state. It's hard to miss the two guitar controllers, easier to miss the little black memory card. :(

No, I'm on the hunt for the unlock-all code, too -- there's a kiosk running the full game at the TRU right by my office, and I want to be able to bust out some Lamb of God in the middle of the R-Zone. :D

Question that may or may not have been asked and/or answered:

Are there any plans to bring Guitar Hero I or its songs (for download, perhaps) over to 360? I never scrounged up the cash to get the original on PS2, but I'm almost certain I'll be getting II for the 360.

There is no final answer on this at this point. Keep in mind that songs would have to be relicensed, and that all takes time. Personally, I would expect at least some of ghe GH1 songs to show up... but more than difficult to say now what's going to happen.

    Hey Moss,

When the PS3 comes out will there be a new version of GH2 that allows for downloadale content through their service or will we be able to do it with the current version since the PS3 is backwards compatible. Would really suck to have to buy a new version.

I hope that fan feedback is enough to get rhythm and bass parts into single player for 360 GH2. I honestly thought that you could play them if you wanted to and get scored and all that. Obviously cool guys (lowly coder or not) thought it was a great idea too.

Just how out of touch can you be to think adding something like that would somehow take focus away from the 'rockstar', 'lead guitar' thing that Guitar Hero is all about?

Hell everyone that plays says that the bassist in the game is fucking awesome and my friend (a bass player IRL) was looking forward to living his dream in the game.

I know having a friend to play with is awesome, but not everyone has a Guitar Hero crazy buddy to play with all the time.

Anyway... here's hoping the 360 version can save the day

not to take away anything from the PS2 version that should be in some sort of museum of rock... like that museum that they have for rock

I got this game yesterday. Immediately unlocked Thunderhorse and Trogdor as soon as I could and beat them both on Expert.

God, this is great. So much harder than the first game. And I like the new Clive Winston--he's like an aesthetic hybrid of Frank Zappa and George Harrison, with a Jimmy Paige stage-presence.

Hmm, I can see the problem with having the bass/rhythm option, since some songs are just really boring when you play their alternate version. Psychobilly Freakout is just repeating G+Y, Strutter is still the exact same song, Misirlou is almost a needle in a haystack when it comes to notes.

Then again, I love YYZs Bass, and Jessica is pretty damn good too.

There is the PA auction, there is the Harmonix auction, and there are a couple of other non-auction contests I believe (check the GH Army myspace page, or the official GH forums).

    That is all.

I'd construct a situation such that everyone died at the exact same moment so that we could attack whatever afterlife there happens to be en masse and so take it over and create a perfect unending afterlife existence. Also, everyone who wanted one would have an afterlife pony.

Well, it _is_ a private party... So there aren't any buy-ins or other ways than the few we've chosen.

In fact, you can't get in without one of the special laminated passes... and no, they don't come with candy bars. (And it's not one of the images posted in the auction, so don't bother trying to print and laminate your own pass. )
