Of all the "edition" games that could come out, the 80's one interests me the least. 80's guitar rock isn't really my thing though, so I'm sure tons of people are straight creaming themselves over this.

80's had its fair share of good music, but I know they are just gonna use this "80's Edition" to put more hair metal and be all "look at us we're being referential remember that?"
Though I wouldnt mind some more Motley Crue. Kickstart My Heart, anyone?
They really gotta do a funk/soul edition, just so there's an excuse to put "Theme from Shaft" on there. It'd probably be pretty repetitive, but oh man the wah-wah goodness.
Meh. I don't really dig the "edition" idea. It's great for some people who dig the particular genre, but everyone else gets left out. Seems like a better idea to just keep making mixed song games so there is something for everyone.
Like I would buy GH3 in a second, but I have no interest in an 80s GH. Are there really people out there who would buy 80s GH but not GH3?
Seems to be limiting your market for no good reason.
The point is that you'd have multiple releases so people who want the 80s rock can buy it and people who want the punk can get that and people who want death metal can get that. And they could have several packs with maybe 20 songs each for $20, so you just buy what you want and don't get fisted with crap like Wolfmother.
The 80s Edition could be incredibly awesome or horribly, uh, horrible, depending on what route they take. Hair metal? Bad. Metallica, Slayer, Maiden, Death? Win.

Well, uh, if you're into metal that is.
Dude. They could never get Metallica. They hate their fans.

I doubt they're gonna waste their time making 9 different versions of Guitar Hero just so Music Jerk#14 doesn't have to deal with playing a song from whatever band they feel shouldn't be on Guitar Hero.

In fairness, the fans hated metallica first. Like "fade to black is a ballad at the start? YOU GUYS FUCKING SUCK" sort of first. Anyway, I hear their music is v expensive to licence at all.
Also, Metallica have been licenced into some mediocre games already. It's quite possible none of them are into video games and are sick of having their music associated with crap and don't know Guitar hero is godly (This being said by someone who learned to play real guitar through them and Megadeth after the babysteps of Nirvana). The reason I think my real palying is relevent is due o the fact that most

It sounds like a mission pack. Does everybody who gets the sims buy very expansion pack? hell no. Some do, and some go the specialist route. Expand your mind.

IS THERE any way to load up GH2 so that it begins in prog scan
or is there something you can hold on the controller to get the menu right off the bat
i know you can hold triangle and x on a normal controller - but who the fuck is gonna play with that
I'm pretty sure there isn't a way to do it. I imagine that it's a requirement that PS2 games can't automatically start in Progressive so that if you switch the PS2 to a seperate TV that can't handle it, you won't be stuck in the dark.
The way GH2 (and most other games) handles it is pretty bad, though. I much prefer SotC's method, where it'll ask you if you want Progressive scan when you boot the game up, so there's no menu diving required.
I really wish that the multi-player in Guitar Hero 1 was half-decent.
Maybe it's just the lack of bigger classics in guitar Hero 2 but I really want to introduce my friends to the music on the original game but it's difficult when the competitive mode just isn't as fun as co-op or even pro-face off.
Still irks me that they somehow managed to screw up the mult-player portion of the game.

So I went back and started playing the original GH on Expert on my career. Yeah, I never got past Hard on GH1. But on GH2 I said fuck it and started out on Hard.
So yeah, GH1 on Expert is a lot easier than GH2 on Expert.

I could never pass the bonus track Six, I always got stuck at 6%, but when I had some friends over I tried it a couple times and beat it on expert. It was insannnely hard, and I was just wondering if it was as much of an accomplishment as I think it was.

In my wildest nightmares, some developer somewhere in some reclusive part of the United States swears at OUENDAN! after failing "READY STEADY GO" for the 17,000th time, and decides to score his revenge by making it a song in a new Guitar Hero game.
Then Neversoft got involved, and now I feel a little better about that never happening ever.
I been scouring this thread for like a week and a half(although missed like the last 2 days), waiting for some news. But i guess i will just ask flat out, does this have a release date yet? Been wanting to wait for the 360 version after playing the PS2 one just after christmas at a friends house. Didn't hear much about it until just today with the release of the new tracks for the 360, now it garuntees i preorder it. I feel like it is coming out soon now but any firm date?

Yeah.
YEAH.
I bought a PS2 so I could play Guitar Hero. I was happy to do so.
Now I have to buy an Xbox360 to play Guitar Hero. And I sort of hate that. But such is the way of things.
80s edition? Final Countdown? Yes sir!

I'm jealous of his skill though.. I'm still working on getting that orange button in hard to work for me.

I remember when I had time to be good at games.
Damn near everything but the poppiest pop song had at least one guitar solo in it.
It would be awesome to have Beat It on there just for Eddie's riff and solo.
Them not being in Guitar Hero until now is a fucking disgrace. They better be in the 80s edition, too.
