Man, me and some friends just played a marathon of GH. Me and my buddy played Laid To Rest on expert, and the breakdown was pure sickness. We were going crazy head banging ... and the weird thing is that I could play all the blazing fast licks no problemo. That was awesome.

That song gave me a "whoa" moment last night.
The first time through I was struggling like mad - bouncing off flashing red and keeping alive through star power.. I'm stuck on Misirlou at 45% and Hangar 18 at 88% so I'm going through playing the older songs just so I don't get bored failing over and over.
On a whim I tried Laid to Rest again because it's got a nice beat to rock out to and I managed my way all the way through to the final huge run of HOs/POs before losing my 4x streak. I only failed the song because I used my Star Power at a silly time and I still can't really nail the weird bridge bit.
But the "whoa" moment was just the realisation that I wasn't just flailing madly on the strum-bar and mashing buttons for the opening / verses - I was actually nailing everything.
It's just weird how things settle into your memory without you realising.

The one about the fucking space hairdresser and the cowboy. He's got a tinfoil pal and a pedal bin
I been scouring this thread for like a week and a half(although missed like the last 2 days), waiting for some news. But i guess i will just ask flat out, does this have a release date yet? Been wanting to wait for the 360 version after playing the PS2 one just after christmas at a friends house. Didn't hear much about it until just today with the release of the new tracks for the 360, now it garuntees i preorder it. I feel like it is coming out soon now but any firm date?
March is all we know right now, and I don't even think that is official.
It would be pretty rad to be able to say that I've never failed Iron Man of all songs
Unfortunately I cannot because I failed it twice (that crazy section at the end was what got me, eventually I got through it by saving my star power for it and just flailing my way through)
On a somewhat related rock note I think the Slayer tour bus pulled in to the parking lot of my work building while I was on lunch.
I don't know bands... but these older long-haired unwashed people came out in a group looking hungry and started walking towards food related establishments.
I pointed out the bus to some rock fans and described the unwashed looking folks and the best theory we have is that it's Slayer....
I think there are some stalkers outside waiting for them to come back... so... details to follow
5 starred misirlou today, giving me the log, and breaking into the top 200 on scorehero (16.2million career score)
Onwards to 150th, or is this finally time to stop playing?
Edit: Also how the hell do you do the rapid chord switching in Psychobilly? the RB->YO->RB->YO ones... that's gotta be a good 80-90k waiting if I could do it.

RB is index and ring finger, YO is middle and pinky, just practice switching those chords without moving your hand up or down, using the different fingers.
Hey, guys, are these any good? I really want a wireless guitar controller, but the official RO one is a whopping 60$, and that's without shipping.
Also, is Freebird the hardest song, or does a bonus song exceed it?
Jordan is probably the hardest song in the game.
I would say that the hardest non-bonus song isn't even in the last tier - Carry Me Home is always the stumbling block for my friends and I when anyone's going through Hard or Expert trying to beat the game.

Man. I rented Guitar Hero 2 from Gamefly, and got it on Tuesday, I think? And already I'm up to Freebird on Expert, without having much trouble at all on anything but Hangar 18 and Psychobilly Freakout.
It's not as hard as I hoped it would be.
It's a shame I don't have any interest in 5-starring stuff. That would keep me occupied for a while.

Beating the game on expert isn't that hard, no. But if you were making 5 star attemps you'd realize the game is vary hard

Yeah, but I can only bear 5-starring songs I really like. And while most of the music is good, and fun, I only really like a few songs.

and therein lies the biggest flaw with GH II.
Less "hey, I know this song!" songs.
I knew most of the songs.
That's besides the point. These songs were popular, but nowhere near as popular as some of the other GH Songs.
Everyone has heard I Love Rock & Roll
But not as many have heard Shout At the Devil
And there were some popular songs, but, they didn't make up for the big hits in GH1.
Frankly I prefer the GH2 songs, but they just weren't as big in terms of song
I like my rock but there were quite a lot of songs in GH3 I'd never heard before and more that weren't particularly to my taste as far as actually playing the songs goes(I don't like playing Tattooed Love Boys, Freya or Them Bones for example). There's tonnes of music I listen to but wouldn't want to play on guitar whereas nearly every arena rock anthem I might usually cringe at would be perfect for this game. As a point of reference I played the hell out of More Than a Feeling and Bark at the Moon on GH1 and am doing the same with Carry On Wayward Son and Freebird on GH2. These are songs that people can hear through one time and love straight away and are the sort of songs that are going to draw people into GH and keep them there. GH2 just had some really odd choices in that regard, quite a few tracks have unusual rhythms or meters that some people just aren't going to get into
[spoiler:f1081b44b4]Of course the perfect solution would be an All-Queen soundtrack.[/spoiler:f1081b44b4]
anyone heard anything related to a release date for the 360?
i've found a couple of sites referring to an early/mid April release, over here they say that its shipping late March, releasing early April.
RedOctanes own site confirms the 3rd of April release in their shop.
Is it just me, or does anyone else hear a strange sound in the background? It sounds like drumsticks or something, dunno, that just sounded out of place
Man, that Misirlou expert video makes me mad. I'm doing exactly what that guy's doing when I play, but I can't keep the rhythm constant on the fast parts. My high score is around 180k right now, and it's the only non-bonus song I haven't five-starred.
I got GH2 about ten days ago. It rules. Took me five days to finish expert mode, so far I've five-starred 22 of the 40 songs. I doubt I'll ever five-star them all--too much work.
But the best thing about this game is that it's getting me into all these bands that I had only casually listened to in the past--I'm rocking out to Primus even as I type this post.

....Holy shit.
speaking of hard... I just unlocked the hilarious guitar for 5starring all of hard. and got my only 100% ever on the way through... on bad reputation.
also... Six expert beat'd... but fuck Jordan.. 3 attempts.. 57..58...59% ... 41 more tries to go
Domination -> BrunswickBeardcombe - SuperKudukuJazz

I haven't even tried that much to 5-star Hangar 18 cause I know that Misirlou will just be there laughing at me afterwards.
oh god....*drool*

my friend thinks its these folks... who look equally as unwashed http://www.darkfuneral.se/tourposters/us_tour2007_banner1.jpg

I think that's the TAC Flying V controller.
Works great with GH I, but for GHII you need an adaptor. does it come with one?

Sheesh.
It doesn't say, though it does say it's compatible with both -- I'm not sure whether to trust that.
Edit: Apparently the older versions need the adapter, and the newer ones don't.

Yes... but if you hadn't noticed yet, GH3 is not being done by Harmonix.
As far as what might show up in 360 DLC, I've no idea what RO/Act's plans are.
