I guess to get the winter pvp thing I am going to go to Wintergrasp this weekend sigh
Because I have tired on my warlock for the last 5 or 6 days to get it and failed because it seems everyone is beyond stupid in the battle grounds
Just stick with the rush pack and kill whatever you run into - it was easy for me as a resto druid (though i couldn't shift) and took about 2-4 games of just running behind the pack and healing. Not to mention we won two of those games because I dominated in making bars go up.
Whelp there go my hopes of getting all the winter veil achievements. Just discovered that the winter hats are drops from dungeon bosses and I'm not level 80 so can't solo/duo them.
Actually the Red Winter Hat is off of Terestia in the Nexus on normal - so you can kill her at 70 if you want. Just get a group and chain run her for them.
She is about 6 pulls in
I have tanked it on my warrior and asked for the last 4 days and lost it every time so I guess it's back to the master loot sigh
Is it a 100% drop? I have a Green hat already from somewhere so I was able to get the achievement straight away.
Did the Wrath Gate and Battle for Undercity over the weekend. Great stuff.
But, question:
When I was sent to Orgrimmar, was that the real Orgrimmar? It didn't have any differences in the name or anything signifying that it was my own instance... I can understand making Horde unavailable to me for griefing purposes, but it seemed too quiet. Was it just that all the horde were hidden to me? What about Thrall and Lady Sylvanas doing their thing, would Horde have seen that? I guess what I'm asking is... how much phasing went on during that, including the Undercity fight?

It's the phasing. It was the "real" city, but you can only see people who are on the same quest. Likewise, no one in the area can see you.

Yeah, that's pretty much it, all the Horde are hidden, and they wouldn't have been able to see you. I joined a raid to do For The Alliance! and when we hit Orgrimmar it was totally empty, at least for me. I just stood in the throne room with all the other dots on the minimap (which I also couldn't see) and waited until they downed him. Achievement earned, same for the Undercity, Black War Bear GET.
I felt a little like I'd cheated, but I'd have helped if I could.
And as for DKs, it's not so much about playing what the guild needs (well, it kind of is I suppose) but rather the fact that right now they are approximately a third of the population, have abilities that are annoying as fuck (GET OVER HERE!), come with a free epic ground mount (at 55, no less) pretty solid gear by the time they leave the Hold, rape face at PvP (at least at non-levelcapped PvP), and are fucking retarded by and large. To quote:
I'm sure Death Knights have the potential to be both awesome tanks as well as DPS, but I really haven't seen it yet. I have seen so very few good ones.
I can understand the guy's brother being sick of seeing them, because I'm sick of seeing them.
Just resubbed and did a bit of PvP with my beloved Moonkin. Now this guy pwned face before the expansion but because everything is flodded with DKs I am little more than a wall flower at this point.

It is as simple as that. They have both the HP and the DPS to make me a none threat. Without an ambush I always get crushed by a comfortable margin. I don't want to be the "nerf DKs" guy but... fuck Death Knights man! And fuck Death Grip to hell.
I was basically farmed by a top-end DK on my resto druid in Wintergrasp. She just ran over me. I couldn't even run away. I just hit /cry /beg the fourth time.

I had a very interesting experience in /LFG today.
I put out a tell: Tank LFG: ZF (dibs on shoulders)
I was met with nothing short of shock and dismay by those in /LFG. Now, I'm a new transplant to the server, but when I was on DI, that sort of thing was very commonplace (Gruul's with the DST reserved, for instance). Had a long talk with the good folks in /LFG (very civil -- but they couldn't understand why I either A) put together a group with no plate wearers or paid a 70/80 to twink me through).
Is this a no-no in your eyes? It seems like a reasonable request -- I'm going to put together a group, but if you're in my group, there's one extra rule: i get <X> loot. Perhaps I'm being childish or selfish, but thought I'd check with y'all.
DAoC would let you sit down and make it pretty clear you weren't attempting to fight back. Sure you died like a bitch but at least the other guy could never claim he did something heroic.
I've always been a little disappointed that WoW makes you stand up when attacked.

i'd be surprised if you would get a group together.
Man, the "A little helper from my friends" achievement is fun as hell. Just get a couple of your buddies, get gnomified and fly around Northrend ganking anything that's red. Probably takes quite a bit longer than going to a battleground but it makes for some great moments on vent. Spreading holiday cheer by force FTW.
planet: You stated your intentions prior to the group being formed, what you did is fine.
Agreed.
Though depending on the reserved item, it may or may not influence my choice to try to join said group, though as a DPS'er, no one really cares what I want or do.
If a tank wants tank gear, it should be theirs. Same deal with healing gear that drops going to the healer first, and other members that can heal second. DPS gear for DPS'ers, and we have completed the trifecta of common sense.
Now, if a tank wanted to reserve a dps item, that might get a bit trickier, but again it depends on whether or not anyone else can even use said item. Plate DPS gear is hard to wear as a rogue, hunter or mage, for example.

So... completely noob question, but I've never been much into rep grinding before...
The cloth donation quests for rep gains: Do you need to be at a certain rep level or something before you can turn in Runecloth? When I speak with the questgivers on my Deathknight, I only get the options for Mageweave and lower.
Reserving loot in 5mans has always felt kind of silly to me. Usually I'm in one of either 2 situations.
1) There are plenty of people who want to go to the instance - In this case, if I really want a specific drop then I can choose people who won't want the item (eg, in your case, not picking any plate wearers).
2) There are not enough people looking for the instance - In this case I can either take what I can get (and thus risk losing a loot roll) or sit around for ages not doing the instance and not getting the loot.
The best thing to do when making groups is to "/who Class Level" and whisper people with:
"Greetings! Would you like to join us for a run to <Instance> as <Tank/DPS/Healer>?"
This way you can pick classes you want (it's also the best way to find a tank for the daily, just don't tell anyone else, I don't want you guys stealing all my tanks).

You have to do those first and then it unlocks the Runecloth.

I would actually agree more with Sith. Alts are fun to play, but if you're in a serious progression-oriented guild then I can 100% understand someone that is upset that progression is being slowed or even halted by guildies playing the flavor of the month.
Nah we're nothing like a hardcore progression crazy guild. We're not casual either but we're sort of inbetween. Casually hardcore?
If you aren't willing to give to the guild, they should not be willing to give to you. Now, I don't know the entire circumstances here, but zerokku is making it sound like people are playing dks instead of going to raids or gearing up for raids. I don't believe any guild should force its members to do nothing but grind grind grind for raiding, but on the other hand if you're going to participate in the guild you need to participate in the guild. Not just run willy nilly and do your own thing, then expect the guild to gear you up.
Nah it's not quite like that either. We have enough healers and tanks for multiple 10man naxx runs if we want to, and just the right amount of both for say 25man naxx.
I actually don't feel as bad about it today. Got commandeered into a 25man naxx last night (My first 25 man raid at that) and had a lot of fun, with several guildies joking with me and complimenting me.
See, if some warrior/pally saw my tell and was like "screw that, not going with him, want those shoulders," that's FINE! That's the whole point! But, a mage/rogue/hunter/etc is going say "wtf, I don't care, let's do ZF!"
Sure, I could go person by person and single them out, but was feeling lazy.
I was just surprised that they viewed it as totally and utterly unacceptable.
As long as you make it known before people join then whatever. A lot of people will probably think you're a jackass, but that's about as far as it's going to go.
On the other hand I joined a group a week or two ago on my DK after a "lf1m dps for heroic <something>". Rogue inviting. So I get in the group and the warrior tank is like, "find another dps." And the rogue is like, "we got one, we're full now, let's go." And the warrior and him repeated that another couple times. Finally the warrior, "i don't want anyone rolling on my tank gear." So I'm like, "that's fine, I don't want your tank gear." And he replies with, "FIND ANOTHER DPS OR FIND ANOTHER TANK."
So I just said I would bail rather than deal with such a dumbass and dropped. A few seconds later the rogue asked me if I wanted to rejoin because he kicked the tank for being an idiot. I rejoin, we find a new tank in like 20 seconds, and blammo gg.
Did the Wrath Gate and Battle for Undercity over the weekend. Great stuff.

Yes, real place. All phased, if you had left it would have let you. They're all there, you just can't see them.
It just occured to me that it would probably be crazy easy for Alliance to get the Orgrimmar fishing achievements by doing them during that certain event. Is this true, or did Blizzard already think of that and find some way to prevent it?
Granted, Old Crafty or whichever is in Orgrimmar will still take you forever if you don't stack the odds by being a crocodile hunter.

Didn't some DK get part of "For the Alliance!" by joining a raid while phased? He couldn't see any enemies or raid members, but stood in the throne room and got it all the same.

Alliance don't go to orgrimmar for the quest, do they? If they don't go there, there wouldn't be a phased orgrimmar for them.

Alliance can enter the phased Orgrimmar. Don't finish the quest then do a city raid. You'll end up in a phased Orgrimmar. But the guards will still be here.
Huh. That seems rather strange to me. So are horde or alliance in the same phase for UC? If so, alliance have never done it the same time I've done the quest (on beta and live).

Alliance PVPers are absolutely terrible on Argent Dawn.
