I read it as "The Dark Bandit" because it seemed appropriate next to "Blood Sucker" and "Doctor Saw for You"

I drew them all the same on purpose. It was actually a challenge to make them look as boring and stiff as they do in the game.

So I got into the Home Beta

I loaded it, created my guy and I was like neat

Then the game told me to go outside and interact with people. So I went to the door to leave my apartment.

At which point the game told me I couldn't go outside because I had to download outside. That was the point that I decided I had better ways to waste my time and I haven't loaded the game since.

I had way more fun with this than I probably should have last night (until about 1am).

The characters are actually quite detailed and good looking, it's just that there are very few choices for clothing and such, they kind of all look the same. But you can still make something different if you put in a little bit of effort. I wish there was a screenshot button or something I'd post pictures of my Echochrome guy, looks like he's right out of THX1138.

My other favorite was some Seth Rogan looking dude with a huge red haired Jewfro.

There's also very limited options of furniture and crap for your "apartment" but who cares right now you just alone in there anyway, the real fun is interacting with others.

Though honestly with very little to do (and yeah, all the games you have to wait in line for... wtf) I don't know how long this limited test will hold my interest, but it is beta afterall. On that front I have to say it loaded quickly and ran pretty well, all things considered (big outdoor areas with hundreds of people in them) hell it runs better than a busy WoW city. As for the ghosts they only last a few seconds while people are loading, at least I didn't have to wait very long but I'm on a phat pipe.

Central Market took about 2 minutes to download for me, and anyway you can download in the background and continue doing whatever you were doing (working on your character, pretending to rape the redhead in the skirt, etc...) that goes for all the areas too... just open the map and start downloading all the new areas in the background, you can queue them up, only takes 2-3 mins each.

I like how they give you 8-10 character slots too. So far my favorite is making a hot chick which naturally gets a crowd of horny dumbasses around you, then go to the menu and switch to a big hair black dude.

They have an excellent choice of moustaches in Home, I was very pleased. The whole thing's pointless though, if I wanted to wander around a barren world filled with slack-jawed tools, I'd go to Liverpool. Hopefully the match-making and clan systems it brings along will be useful though.

The facial expressions are a bit hard to read given the over-the-shoulder perspective. The dances and emotes are decent though, what there is of them. Still, all that will probably wear thin anyway. When there's actually more to do and more places to go it could be fun.

Voice chat works well, at least until someone starts playing that damn Rick Astley song over it.
