Anyone else think this link would be a good thing to have in the OP as well as future Steam OPs?

Hey, they've got Sega Rally Revo listed for $10, but they also have Sega Rally listed for $20. When I went to check to see if that was the original Sega Rally, I get the This item is currently unavailable in your region message. I'm in the US.

Can anyone overseas check and see if this is the original Sega Rally for me?

It's the game known as Sega Rally Revo in NA.

I know about Revo, but that link has two different games listed at two different prices, and the old press releases from back when Sega announced they were throwing games up on Steam listed Sega Rally and Sega Rally Revo as two separate games.

Also, that link Exin posted has them listed separately, with Sega Rally (not Revo) linking here, which is the page that gave me the region error.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/10400/ says SEGA Rally and it seems to be the game that's called SEGA Rally Revo in NA. The screenshots look similar to the box art found on Wiki and it lists a 2007 release date.

Yeah, I just saw that it went from $49.99 to $19.99, so that means it's not the original. Thanks for checking.

Kinda lame that it's listed under different names in different territories, but not as lame as the fact that it's $19.99 elsewhere, but only $9.99 in the US.

Dark Messiah is great, until the spiders. To a lesser degree, then undead who can poison you, but mostly the spiders, who will always poison you. It is a poison that does not wear out, you have to burn an antidote to remove it, and antidotes are extremely limited initially. And there are just so many spiders, and they aren't fun to fight at all.

Did the DoW2 Beta go live last night?

Also, where is the GTA IV patch for steam? My steam tells me GTA IV is 100% up to date. :( Man, I wish Steam would just update my games when I'm not around instead of making me run the game to update it.

Try joining the latest Steam Client beta. Supposedly it fixes some problems with the auto-updater.

    I guess this fits here:
    GamersGate wrote:
GamersGate announced today that it will offer its entire catalog “client-free” beginning January 28, 2009. With this new feature, GamersGate is poised to step to the front of the digital distribution industry.

“GamersGate will now offer gamers more convenient access to their games without forcing them into a client,” said Theodore Bergquist, CEO of GamersGate. "We want to offer the most accessible experience with the quickest loading times and this is a big step in that direction. With the evolving nature of retail, we’re extremely pleased to help reinvent the process by putting the power in the gamers’ hands.”

GamersGate will offer its entire catalog from over 90 publishers including Eidos, SEGA, THQ, 2K, and, Bethesda “client free.”

GamersGate has aggressively provided the digital distribution arena with some of the most desired services including GameNerve and the recently announced mictrotransactions software, MicroSuite.

If you haven't used it, their client kind of sucks. It not that bad, but it is not even slightly as good as steam. Like, you sometimes have to manually deal with serial numbers, and patches are not as well integrated.

I can see enjoying GamersGate a lot more without having to have the client installed.

It's the people that make hearts of iron.

They do lots of strategy games, and you can get games like penumbra, mount and blade, introversion games and actually a growing amount of big normal games (like Fallout 3, The witcher and Bionic Commando Rearmed) from them.

Edit: Penny-Arcade Adventures, Eidos, Sega, Capcom, THQ, Simben, NCsoft and 2K too.

"Games without a client!" doesn't sound like an advantage to me because Steam just works so great, and it's the only digital distribution client I've really used. (Granted, Steam was pretty crappy at release.)

To me, if done well, no client is way better than a bad client.

It's basically like piracy but easier, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are targeting the (very real) set of people that "don't want anything like steam on their PC", who might currently be pirating games, and trying to convince them not to.
