Has anyone mentioned the possibility that they called him on Future Perfect because only a moron would prefer that to the infinitely superior Timesplitters 2.
Also your favourite game can obviously be 3d if you want. It's your opinion. If they say it has to be 2d explain to them that they are narrow minded cunts because they are. Unless they have some persecuted scholar complex going on where 'only they understand true art'.
99% of 2d games are unplayable piles of shit anyways these days. And the few gems that still stand the test of time have sequels that are superior anyways.
TS3 is superior because you can actually play all the maps against CPU on either offense or defense for 'assault'.
TS2 only let you play offense.
It also had the Zeppelin track.
The only thing missing from 3 was Ice Station.
Ice Station is civilization.
Also 3 changed to fix look.
And had a terrible single player.
And none of the Quantum Leap charm of 2.
Trust me, science has been done on this. Science. 2 is better.
You know it was possible to turn fixed-look off right
I was recently having lunch with some friends and someone asked what our favorite games were.
I said Sonic The Hedgehog(Former Sega Fanboy), another said Super Mario Bros., then someone said TimeSplitters Future Perfect.
I didnt, but many other people grilled him about it. The fact that he didnt love an old 2D game.
So, why is it so bad to have a 3D game as you favorite game ever?
I mean, whats the problem?
The real answer is that most people you know (and hell, most people I know, and most that post here) are probably of the age that they played Sonic, Mario, etc when they were somewhere between say, 5 and 15...prime ages for "best game ever" choices that are almost entirely due to nostalgia.
The people 10+ years younger than us will likely be arguing over whether Halo 3 or Gears of War 2 or MGS4 were the greatest games ever made well into their 20s.
edit: Although, this isn't universally true...nearly every single one of my favorite games is a PSX title, and I grew up playing NES. That's not to say that playing those old titles won't put a smile on my face and make me think "Man, this game is awesome", but I can say with no question that no NES title I've ever played, nor SNES title are the "best games ever".
Future Perfect is fantastic. Your friend has excellent taste, OP.
My personal favorites are Perfect Dark (N64), Ogre Battle 64, FFVI, and Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64). The first game I ever remember playing? Super Mario 3, on NES at age 3. Maybe that makes me a wee baby, compared to some of you, but I trust my tastes.
Doobh on
Miss me? Find me on:

4D Boxing is obviously the best game ever, i mean, c'mon guys, a game made almost entirely from wire frames with 2d bits stretched between them is obviously a 4th dimension in graphics.
LOOK INTO THE FUTURE AND THE 4TH DIMENSION AN BE AMAZED!
One thing about 2D games that they have over 3D games, is a lot of them age a lot better than 3D ones, ugly old 3D graphics can be hard to stomach sometimes, even if you loved the game back in the day, where as 2D if done right, looks nice and artsy no matter what.
People now ~20-30 years old grew up in the 80's and early 90's. Games you grew up with have the advantage of nostalgia to make them seem perfect, because we're biased towards remembering nice things and not bad things about stuff we enjoyed overall.
It has nothing to do with the games in particular or the technology involved. In 20 years, 3D games will be everyone's childhood favorites, and the 18D games will be looked down upon as just not quite as amazing as Shaun White Snowboarding.
I don't know, most non platforming action games, sports games etc. were a waste of time. Even racing is a joke compared to after Gran Turismo etc came out on the ps1, as much as I like F Zero. Games were more homogeneous, but that made innovation stand out a lot more when it happened, like with Mario, Street Fighter, etc.
