You know, I know very little about IT stuff, but I never can understand why companies don't anticipate the demand for these kind of things and prepare for them ahead of time.
They didn't provide the service for years, presumably because they didn't think there was any market for it. I don't know why the launch of a new service would be any different, it's probably running on much the same system that the old My Nintendo was running on which never had any load on it.
Anyway, I find people's problems here kind of perplexing. Whether Firefox or IE, I was always able to log in just fine, I just had no "to do" items despite earlier registrations. Which I do now, all of a sudden. Sweet!
So I counted up what I have from the games listed here that will earn me coins. Given 50 coins for Wii, 30 coins for DS, and 10 for other stuff...
15 Wii games = 750
17 DS games = 510
Wii Fit = 80
World of Goo = 10
I potentially have 1350 coins. 800 for G&W, then 600 for the next year means I'm set for at least two years. I hope they get some more rewards up there...
So I spent a half hour last night trying to log in, and figured I was entering the wrong username. I could not log in at all, saying my username and password didn't match. Does that mean the site is fucked, or do I just not remember my username? I had like 50 things registered on my My Nintendo Account.
Also, someone mentioned they got their username from their Wii. I better try that.
Generally, it'll be your email address, or whatever your address was when you created the account.
Yeah, I tried that. Didn't work. I have a pretty vivid memory of what my username was, but it sure isn't working with any password, even after I changed the password with the e-mail thing. I dunno.

I put in the few codes that I had still to register..but it only carried over two of my registered games from my Nintendo account. Is there a way to get the registration codes for my games anywhere else if I no longer have the paper they come with?
Also, how do I get it to register my WiiWare and VC purchases, since I have alot.

You need to merge your Wii with your account. I think it's in the system settings.

Thanks Dodge, I'll check that out tonight. I have bought lots of money worth of VC and WiiWare games.
So you don't get anything for Gamecube or GBA games that were registered under My Nintendo? I was finally able to log in today, and it showed some past games registered to take surveys, but they were all Wii and DS.
So I have the majority of my past DS games there for surveying - no Wii ones but I don't think I've registered any of the games I own, so I guess that will be tonight's project. Are they still saying to email them all the VC titles we've bought? Does this include 3rd party VC or just Nintendo ones?
Well, I got some surveys in before it refused to let me log in again. I think I'm still missing a bunch of my old, valid titles, but I'll worry about that once I'm allowed to complete the ones I can see.

Pretty much anything before Wii and DS are out. Anything released before Dec 2008 is just a small selection of games.
I don't see MK: Wii on my to do list. Perhaps I forgot to register it?

A Nintendo rep in an email told me that the only games that are eligible are ones that are still shipping to retailers. Pretty lame that they don't seem to care about rewarding past purchases at all, since even with all the hullabaloo about "REGISTER YOUR GAAAAMES!!" over the past few years, we never got shit besides the Zelda disc (which I got through Nintendo Power anyway).
That fucking sucks. I had over 50 games registered, all from GC and GBA days. I stopped registering shit after a couple Wii games because I didn't see the point. Though I still have the codes.
Man alive. I finally linked my accounts, and when I went to see what games I had and to start earning coins, the site wanted me to sign in again, and it's asking me to register again. Fuck. If my 5 years of registering my mountains of Nintendo shit don't even count, then why bother with this bullshit?

# How many Coins will I receive for registering my game and taking the survey?
* Wii games = 50 Coins
* Nintendo DS games = 30 Coins
* Wii Shop Channel games and Wii Channels = 10 Coins
# Can I register Wii Shop Channel games and Wii Channels that I purchase?
Yes! But, you must first link your Wii Shop Channel to your Club Nintendo account. Once this link is created, the Virtual Console games you download will automatically be added to your list of registered games.
Please note that this Wii Shop Channel/Club Nintendo link is not created when you register your serial number using Club Nintendo's Product Registration program. This link is created through the Wii Console (Wii Shop Channel). Click here for more information on how to link your Wii Shop Channel to your Club Nintendo account.
# I've linked my Club Nintendo profile to my Wii Shop Channel. Why aren't my Wii Shop Channel games and Wii Channels showing up in my list of registered products?
Wii Shop Channel games and Wii Channels downloaded prior to creating the Club Nintendo link will not be displayed. Please email us by clicking here to have your previously-downloaded Wii Shop Channel games and Wii Channels added to your Club Nintendo account. You will need to provide us with all pertinent information (name, email address, serial number, game titles, etc.). Not providing all of the pertinent information will increase the time it takes to find a solution and receive a reply. You can also call us at 1-800-255-3700. Representatives are available from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Pacific Time, 7 days a week.

I'm pretty sure the database is going down repeatedly, or atleast timing out while trying to pull information. I'm logged in now and my ToDo list is empty (whereas before there were still surveys sitting there) and it now says "Welcome " instead of "Welcome <USERNAME>". Reloading the site will sometimes load my information and TODO list, but there's only a slight chance that I will be able to submit a survey properly.
I would even be concerned about screwing something up, getting it half-entered into some database so it thinks you're done but you get no coins, that sort of thing. Wait until it's stable.
Of course it may never be stable once it starts getting passed around all the blogs moreso than it is now.

SHIT
My copy of Mario Kart Wii is missing the registration card. If it was in the case, I don't think I lost it, since I pretty much opened the case once to take the disc out and never touched it again. But if it was in the box instead it might have fallen out

Read the FAQ about missing PIN sheets. Say you bought the game but there was no sheet inside. They might ask you for some random info (Maybe product codes on the packaging or something), but you'll get a PIN.

Yay! Because I don't know if I have all my sheets. I should, but I was worried if I didn't.
Should I have a sheet for the WiiZapper/Links Crossbow? I'm pretty good about keeping everything that comes with a game, but I can't find anything for that...

Give it time. At first there was nothing under the "Earn Coins" tab for me, despite a dozen elligble games registered under the "Account" tab.
Then, it showed games but asked for the PINs again.. which didn't work because they were already registered.
Then, it showed surveys. Took a couple days.
Yay! Because I don't know if I have all my sheets. I should, but I was worried if I didn't.
I got up to about 700 points, probably should be able to hit the 800 mark before too long.
