I want the best travel mug in the universe, as of today. I do not know how to find such a device, so if anyone can help me in my endeavor, I would be greatly appreciative.
Surely by now science has accomplished the task of applying highly sophisticated and precision engineered insulation technology to keeping my delicious beverages, soups, or other unspeakable temperature dependant liquids unaltered by the scourges that are conduction, convection, and to a lesser extend radiation.
So far my journey has included searching Amazon for travel mugs and sorting by highest rated. This results in a stainless steel mug that, by anecdotal evidence, can keep a coffee hot for over 24 hours if it is unopened. While this certainly meets my actual use requirements (I drink my coffee in fewer than 24 hours!), I really like an over-engineered product. I want my coffee to last for weeks if possible. Months even, science permit.
I would also prefer something that has a plastic free food contact surface. Plastic smells gross and why would I heat something in a gross smelling material? Stainless steel seems to be the staple.

I'm not sure this is the kind of space-mug you are looking for but it's pretty good at keeping stuff hot and I love drinking from it. I'd say your coffee can stay in there for about an hour without loosing any temp, then it will start to go down. I got it as a gift, so I don't know where they got it but I've seen them at coffee shops.
-Keeps your coffee warm
-Saves a few minutes in the morning (you just throw coffee + hot water in mug, it brews in transit)
-Tates better than drip coffee, in my humble opinion.

However, I failed to mention that I don't make ordinary coffee. Since moving to California 1 year ago I have become an espresso fiend. Yes I blame it on the state of CA because hippies yeah. I bought a sweet sweet espresso maker that I use to concoct lattes, americanos, mochas, etc. I don't think I've had a regular cup of Joe in ages.
I may consider that in the future for a gift, because I do know some ordinary coffee hounds.
Yes indeed. I have a french press from Bodum that I bought at Starbucks and it tastes much better than the coffee drip that I have. Tastes *richer*.
