iPhone/iTouch input peripherals- a possibility?

I originally had the idea of a swivel dock with a keyboard with a charging battery or powered by the phone battery. I thought it would be great if a word processing app ever came out, as well as for typing online.

Then when I saw how problematic it is to design a decent igame and thought, why not a joypad peripheral? It would connect at the datacharge port on the bottom, and in landscape format the games would use the appendages on either side like a psp , while also retaining touch/gyro controls where workable. Such a peripheral would have to be easily collapsible, but it doesn't seem at all impossible to make.

Definitely a step in the right direction, except the dpad looks shit, and it doesn't look like devs will be coding anything for it. Apple needs to get behind such a peripheral.
