So um... Texas Flood? Is that going to turn out like the early rumors of Nevermind as album DLC? I had thought it was a done deal months ago when they announced several albums - all of the others have come out, and no sign of SRV on Rock Band yet. What gives?
I had hoped for it before Christmas. Then figured they'd start off the new year with it. Now they've announced their schedule through February and still no sign of it.
Yes, I am impatient. I can't play the vast majority of SRV stuff on my real guitar, so I really wanna pretend on my fake one!
Nevermind was rumored, but never announced. This is different, as there was a concrete announcement... but the announcement didn't have any dates attached. They announced several albums, and one has come out each month until January. In addition to Texas Flood, Nothing's Shocking was on that press release and hasn't come out yet. I had expected one of those in January, but certainly they never promised that.
Maybe getting the Wii store up is taking more resources from the DLC team than anticipated, and the smaller packs were moved earlier to give them breathing room. Or maybe they always planned to release the last two albums in October 2010. No way to know!
I just want songs that are more fun to play/sing than The Prequel to the Sequel (or vice versa...I don't really care to get the title correct). I hate that fucking song.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. There's a list of DLC for February for GH:WT, but someone just mentioned that the DLC was announced through Feb. for RB. Unless I totally misread what was said. That's why I'm asking...
So, how many Harmonix employees do we have that read the page? Just wondering if someone knows someone that works there. He's a friend of a friend, been trying to get in touch with him...

Yeaaaaah, I could try calling, I guess. I'd rather just get his email, but if I can't get it I'll try that out. The old email I had for him doesn't exist anymore, since it was at Iron Lore (may that R.I.P.).
I wonder if they have some kind of master plan to start releasing ridiculous amounts of DLC or if this is some kind of hypothetical? 5000 songs would fit on a 250GB HD (which are available for the PS3) but I imagine 360 and Wii would run into a few problems, heh. Not to mention that without some MAJOR UI updates it would be completely ridiculous to actually play those 5,000 songs. It'll be interesting to see where HMX goes with RB and DLC in a year's time I guess.
All Henry's confirming there is that they are not guaranteeing 5000 songs by the end of the year.
If you track the quote to its original source, it was in the context of the supposed initiative to get independent bands on the store. It was along the lines of "once the store grows from 500 songs to 5000, it will be difficult to find bands" or something like that. In other words, they are trying to be forward-looking, figuring the library could easily get that big. Eventually.
After some quick math I'm calling bullshit. Prove me wrong HMX, but to even hit 2,000 songs by year end, we're looking at roughly SEVENTY SONGS A WEEK FROM HERE ON OUT.
NEVER gonna happen.

Well, the average CD has what, 12 tracks to it? That means that 5,000 songs would be the equivalent of about 416 CD's. That's a LOT of artists over a lengthy time period.
I don't see this as being unreasonable. When MP3's first came out, my immediate thought was that bands would be smart to start doing flipper CD's with the album on one side and the data on the other. Then with DVD's, it became "put the album on one side, and a video of the recording session, or other bonus stuff on the other side." Now with the rhythm game genre, it only makes sense to move the industry forward a step by merging the two mediums. Include RB/GH tracks with a newly released CD. While it obviously wouldn't work for EVERYTHING, I'm more than pretty sure that it's not unfeasable for a lot of bands to jump onto something like this.
Five thousand sounds way too high yes, but when was the last time we had a week with less than six songs? Even if it just winds up being two thousand, that's a shitload of music.
Dammit, I wish I'd know whether or not Microsoft is actually sending me a data transfer cable. My 20GB is already about to explode, I need to get it on my 60GB already!
While having five thousand new songs means that a lot of them are garbage I'll have no interest it, it also means a higher chance of something I DO want

The headset would have to be connected to a different controller. Can't use headset attached to drums or guitar to do vocals.
GRAG
I do not see how that makes sense
...will probably buy a mic stand soon, then
edit: then are there options for when you're doing both, like not having to do the percussion bits?
I...wouldn't recommend doing that when you're playing with other people.
The bonus is that your cunnilingus skills will improve exponentially.
Also completely in sync with whatever music is setting the mood.
LOL, thats quite the visual /snicker

I think it took me all of college to actually accumulate that many MP3's.
