ah time splitters 1 was the first game I bought for my ps2, everything up until that point I rented. It came out in march 2000 right? Damn I was 12 at the time...
I've got a couple of mates who work at FR - one was just a tester and he got laid off last week, but the other guy is the lead sound dude so I'll see what he's got to say about this.
If anyone's interested though, development for TS4 had barely started and basically was just on the backburner. It didn't stand any chance of being released within the next 3 years or so.
I just booted up TS2 again on my Wii. I can't believe I used to play with those controls. Huh. Anyway, this game really does stand the test of time. The graphics aren't great, but the action is fast and awesome. The zombie level in Siberia is still one of the best moments in FPS gaming, ever.

Jesus, that's a long time.
Like, nearly next generation of consoles long time.

I had no idea you could get this for the Wii.
All I own is TS:FP on my xbox.

You can't. The Wii can play Gamecube games.
I love the BC on this console specifically because it allows me to play my custom levels in TS2. I spent way too much time in there.
I always have to remind people, but my most awesome map in Future Perfect was a working Tic Tac Toe game, in that you could get 3 in a row and the game would actually recognize you winning.
Also judging by the poly counts they were going for and the wireframe, those models don't indicate the system as you could easily do those on the Wii.
I am going to buy Haze for $12 to morn the lose of Free Radical, it can't be that bad, right?
I mean the muliplayer has to be good, right? Am I wasting my money here?
For $12? I never look back if a game is alright for a cheap price. I know it was an OK game but just wasnt worth $60. Id say 12 would be good.
It's just a very average game. I didn't hate it ... well, except the vehicle sections, but there aren't a lot of those. I don't think anyone plays it online anymore, though, and I can't recall if it even has split-screen multiplayer.

A Joystiq video says that yes, it does have split-screen multiplayer
Well, if there was any question as to whether Free Radical will survive or not, it just got answered: the company's looking to sell its IPs.
With Free Radical Design undergoing a studio closure, administrator ReSolve Partners is willing to sell off the developer's IPs individually. The Nottingham, England-based developer has worked on three original IPs ever since it started up in 1999: TimeSplitters, Second Sight, and Haze.
ReSolve Partners representative Cameron Gunn was optimistic about selling Free Radical and its IPs. "We're advertising the business and assets for sale and there's been some significant interest expressed from all over the world, so we're now in the process of exploring that interest," Gunn told gamesindustry.biz.
While ReSolve would like to sell Free Radical for one lump sum, Gunn stated that the administrator was willing to sell off the IPs individually if the deal was more lucrative. "If we can sell all of that in one hit that would be fabulous. It may be that we're made offers for several parts of the business, which when added together total up more than one whole sale to one other interested party," Gunn said, adding, "but it's early days, we're not too sure yet, but if we can save more jobs we'd be delighted, and that's what we're aiming to do at this stage."
While Free Radical recently laid off several staff members, Gamesindustry reports that there are still 40 employees with the company; however, the developer is not currently working on any upcoming games.
According the gaming news site, several companies are interested in either buying Free Radical as a whole or its individual assets. Among the companies are Kuju Entertainment, Monumental Games, and Second Sight publisher Codemasters.
Codemasters would probably be good, I haven't kept up on their developer relations though. You'd more than likely see a PC port of a new Timesplitters if they get them.
I care more about the team than the IPs. A talented team can always create fun games, existing IP or not. A not-as-talented team can produce a game with someone else's IP, but that doesn't mean that the resulting game will necesarily be as good as the former team's games using the IP.

In my own brief experience with game and trying to get split screen going with my friend, I can say, no it doesn't have split-screen multiplayer. Which is retarded beyond belief.
The downside to EA buying them is they'll make the game's online work through the shitty online service that they've already shut down for TS3. Which means you can't trade maps online anymore.

It looks like he's wearing a fish and clothes. But yes, it's so very awesome. I hope it sees the light of day.
For example, it could be interpreted to mean they shut their doors. And then changed the locks, and had security guards turning former employees away.
Figuratively speaking...
shutting them after the locks have been changed is generally a good way to test the new lock, though.
How about an in game model. Definitely a 360/PS3 game.
And I have no doubt it will get picked up in the same way Brutal Legend did. Timesplitters is a profitable series.
(not concept art.)
Do you work at FR or something, Scarab?

all known models show aroud a ~6,000 tri/polygon count
other games and their poly counts:
Leon, RE4 GC:
10,000 polys
Snake, MGS3 PS2
4,000 polys
Half Life 2
Alyx, 8,323 polys
Barney 5,922 polys
Marcus, GoW1
15,000 polys
Also remember that you're not going to see all those polys at once due to backface culling.
but but... timesplitters... NOOOOO!

Even better, Activision own the bond license right? Activision should buy them.
I'd much rather they not have license restrictions to work under.

edit: I'd like to take the chance to say that at this moment, the soundtracks are still up for download on their site
Buy these dudes for cheap.
Sincerely
Everyone
You mean Activision. EA is too busy trying to make money right now.
The cheapness of the sale makes EA more likely to do something. Timesplitters is still a huge franchise.
