Finding someone who's looking for a roommate: What's the process?

Every morning I wake up and it's the same. I get up and I buy the paper, and I circle them all, and I phone them only to discover they've been taken by a bunch of fucking psychic house hunters.

I'm in England visiting my Mum at the moment, but when I return to LA I'm going to be looking for somewhere new to live. I'm not earning enough to rent a place on my own, so I'm going to have to find someone who's looking for a roommate. I'm also currently learning how to drive, so ideally I need to find somewhere either in or close to Burbank, where I currently work. This means I have pretty limited options.

At the moment, I understand what I need to do. I'm planning on looking on Craigslist (maybe even posting an ad myself), and I've started putting feelers out among my LA-based friends (although most of my friends live in San Diego, so that's not likely to yield any results). Is there anything else I can be doing to look for a place to live?

Try asking someone from your workplace?

Make sure on craigslist to both check the places where people post that they're looking and also post in the appropriate place to have people contact you.

    http://www.roommates.com/

I have had two friends use this site to find roommates so it may help.

Independant/Small/Community/University Newspapers that allow you to put ads in them. We have a few cool weeklies that you can find apartments and used furniture in their small classifieds. LA is a bit larger though, but I would use that with craigslist to find a roommate out of the blue.
