Looks like Oda's bravado is mixing in with fear at the moment. Shadowland demons are one thing, but an experienced yojimbo with a penchant for killing nosy samurai is another.

Let's see how the others tread. But it looks like we can either kill the mayor, trick the mayor, or 'join the bandits' and find those other samurai.

Pretending to show courtesy to gain advantage on an enemy is only dishonourable for those with honor over 2.

    Just saying.

Yes, but our boss is sitting right there with us. If things get violent, El Skid, let's do what our characters do best.

well were a little stuck, as our lovely GM has intended :P, as their lord he can order them to do anything and they refused. going ronin rather then doing so. but the lord has failed his duty to deliver his good per his lords instruction.

however, we can't really do much. we need to report to his superiors. but he's not going to let us off the island. i think we need to get out of this room and let kenji make a call.

It might be better to 'round up' those ronin samurai and use them as cannon fodder.

If you don't trust your own (the collective players) diplomacy skills, you can tug on kenji's robe and have him try to get out of the situation.

How much experience do we get for killing Kenji-sama? :)

    NEGATIVE SIXTY

Actually if you wanted to go that path, that bloody and ultimately doomed path i'd let you guys. Because, well, not like it'd make my job any harder.

So for finding the samurai in the forest a perception/hunting roll tn 20 tracking emphasis if you have it. The roll can be attempted by everyone should they want to.

Can we do one of those fancy group rolls? One person leads and sets a TN, and the others aim for a TN 5 lower... with everyone else's success gaining the leader a free raise on his roll?

Of course thats totally appropriate for this circumstance. I'm not sure who'd be the best choice for a main roller (ie anybody got hunting?)

Im sure the scout does. My character also has hunting, but not so hot on the perception front.

Hunting 1, Perception 3. Does that help?

Haha. So all the bushi have a point in hunting, and *3* of us have a 3 perception to boot. I can't believe my character is one of the worst hunters in the group :(

Well if you're all alike, the first person to roll will be the main roll? Or one of the scouts if you want to really rp it. Doesn't matter who if anyone turns up anything, just that you do i guess.

I'm one of the not-alike ones, so I'll not be determining TNs. Plus I just wanted to see what the Crab would say when I told him to do his duty :P

If the TN is 20, the rest of us can roll vs TN 15, if we succeed we give him a free raise (this should be doable for most of the group).

On that note: 3k2+3=16. Passes TN 15.

How many dice do I roll again? And can I use some void on this roll to ensure our success? Sorry, it's been a while since I've read the book.

So assuming you lead this, you'll be rolling Perception/hunting.... which means perception+hunting keep perception, or 4k3. So rolling 4 d 10, keeping the 3 highest with any 10s that come up exploding. Because we're all helping you (which doesn't come up often), each one of us that succeeds at a TN 15 roll will give you a free raise, which in this case is +5 to your roll.

I'm kind of confused where the +3 came for your roll.

Going to use a void point to roll and keep an extra die. I'll also take a single raise on it to try to find them especially quickly and impress our master/Crab wanna-be.

    5k4

    8-)

    25 Exactly.

Okay, so any free raises we give you will also be towards effect, which is good.

Oh, and I get +(fire) to all Bugei skill rolls from my first rank school technique.

I clearly don't need your help, why don't you just sit back and relax. That's what the royal family is good at, right?

Just kidding, but that's the way my character will play it off. I'll wait until other people roll before doing any post.
