My only problem with this announcement is that we know Peggle is coming to PSN, yet it's not in this spring fever thing, which leads me to believe a summer release at the earliest.

I wonder the same thing about Fat Princess. Isn't that supposed to be released in March?

Even though the Punxsutawney Groundhog predicted six more weeks of winter, PlayStation Network has already caught Spring Fever. To help spread our excitement, we’re launching “PSN Spring Fever” on PlayStation Store to celebrate the exceptional PlayStation Network games and exclusive content on tap to launch in the next few months. And unlike the “official” Groundhog prediction, Spring for us starts tomorrow with the launch of Flower from thatgamecompany.
In addition to current PSN exclusive hits like PixelJunk Eden, PAIN and flOw, you can look forward to several other highly anticipated games such as Flower, Noby Noby Boy, Burn Zombie Burn and The Punisher: No Mercy to name a few. And with these exclusive blockbusters launching on a weekly basis, we’ll offer the best downloadable games lineup around. A few of the titles include:
Flower
Noby Noby Boy
No Gravity
Wheel of Fortune
Burn Zombie Burn
Ragdoll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic
The Punisher: No Mercy
In addition to these titles, PlayStation Network will also be launching Bomberman Ultra, Flock, Comet Crash, Watchmen and many more during this timeframe.
Plus the existing blockbuster, exclusive titles already on PlayStation Network such as Crash Commando, Savage Moon, Echochrome, Pixel Junk Eden, PAIN, Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty and more!
PlayStation Store is launching a dedicated “PSN Spring Fever” section featuring games, trailers, and themes available for download with the launch of Flower. And the PlayStation Blog will have weekly posts of developer diaries to show a behind-the-scenes look at some of these great titles.
Check out the dedicated “PSN Spring Fever” section on the PlayStation Store or catch additional PlayStation updates in an upcoming bi-weekly edition of PULSE.
Worms? Anyone know if it's a port of an older game, or something new and shiny?
The right port with good online functionality would be cool, but the other option might also be nice.
At the very worst, it'll be WORMS (as in the first one) from the old PSX days. But I'm secretly hoping they can get us a copy of Armageddon.
Not that the original WORMS is bad or anything: I just want my flying sheep bombs.
Worms and Bomberman are the same as the 360 version or so I've heard. Don't quote me on that. Also heard (at GAF) the PSN version of bomberman will have 7 player local play and all the DLC included.

Ah well. I'll still buy it. It's great when I have company over to be able to play a nice simple game locally.
I'm gonna be going on a seven hour drive to Myrtle Beach tomorrow (and, thus, will drive seven hours back). I was going to bring my PSP and a few games, but then I remembered you can go on the PS3 and download some games onto the PSP through PSN.
Which leads to the question: what travel recommendations are up on the PSP PSN selection?

Apparently the list on the PS blog I quoted was edited (before I posted it here) with some titles omitted. No idea why. Here is the full list, bolded titles are the one's that were edited out from the blog post.
In addition to these titles, PlayStation Network will also be launching Bomberman Ultra, Celfactor Ignition, Flock, Texas Cheat-em, Diner Dash, Comet Crash, Hammer Fall, Underfire, Watchmen, Worms, Zen Pinball and many more during this timeframe.

You can even download games directly on to the PSP via wifi, if you have the latest firmware.
Personally, I'd recommend Everyday Shooter (all of my bitching and moaning about the PS3 version not having analog movement are nullified by the fact that the PSP controls only allow eight-direction input anyway.) And also PSOne Classic Suikoden.
Going to repost my post about Flower here as this seems to be the official PSN game thread (that and more people need to understand how important it is that they don't miss this). I've become convinced that Flower is going to be the next Rez, one of those rare titles that people will be talking about years from now.
Platform: Playstation Network
Price: 9.99
Release Date: February 12th 2009
The developer that brought you the award-winning PLAYSTATION Network title flOw is back with another concept that challenges traditional gaming conventions. Flower expands the team's tradition of delivering simple gameplay, accessible controls and a medium to explore emotional chords uncommon in video games. In Flower, the surrounding environment, most often pushed to the background in games, is pulled to the forefront and becomes the primary "character." The player will journey through a beautifully vivid and changing landscape in this fresh and genuine game only on PS3.
The game exploits the tension between urban bustle and natural serenity. Players accumulate flower petals as the onscreen world swings between the pastoral and the chaotic. Like in the real world, everything you pick up causes the environment to change. And hopefully by the end of the journey, you change a little as well.
The goals and journey in each level vary, but all involve flight, exploration and interaction with the worlds presented to you. Using simple SIXAXIS wireless controls and by pressing any button, the player controls the lead petal and accumulates a swarm of flower petals as he moves at his own pace within the environment, causing the on-screen world to change. Flower's gameplay offers different experiences, pacing and rhythm to all players. Along the way, the environment will pose challenges to the player's progress.
Both pastoral and at times chaotic, Flower is a visual, audio and interactive escape on PS3.
thatgamecompany has depicted something that I never once imagined: what would a flower's dream look like if we could see it? Flower, a PS3 downloadable that comes as a spiritual successor to flOw, is one of the most beautiful games that I've ever played. Not just because the visuals are entirely breathtaking, but also because the experience of playing it offers more enjoyment, emotion and enlightenment than any game I've tried in years ...
But maybe "fun" isn't the perfect word. Much like a well-constructed movie's emotional arc, Flower sets the mood, dips into the darkness, soars up for the climax, and ends on a satisfying resolution. Each level, represented by a potted flower sitting on a windowsill, takes you into the dream of that flower. In those periods of resting imagination, you soar through the air and make your way to that flower's secret inner desire, be it lush vegetation, bright color patches, or just shafts of light. But no matter the end, the journey is the same -- you fly around from flower to flower, collecting petals as you go. The more petals you add to your train, the faster you can fly. The levels are all fun, but they're also peaceful, exhilarating, empowering, and, as a mild spoiler, sometimes terrifying.
The game's distinct visual style immediately draws you in; people walking by my cubicle while I was playing would constantly stop and ask me what I was doing. This isn't the most technologically impressive game I've ever seen, but it is still one of the most beautiful. While the landscapes aren't entirely realistic, they offer exactly what I'd expect from a flower's dream -- hills speckled with stunning colors, ethereal orbs glowing in the grass, and a breathtakingly blue sky. Coupled with wonderful music and sound effects -- a dynamic score and chimes that tinkle fittingly as you collect petals -- Flower's presentation grabs and holds your attention.
It is, simply, a game where you want to see what happens next, because whatever does happen next will be delicate, beautiful and pleasurable, and never so hurried as to overburden the spectacle and sense of immersion.
Anyone else grabbing this on day 1? I hadn't really been paying attention to it but after watching some trailers, I'm sold. The game looks like it's going to have the same sort of qualities that drew me to Rez on XBLA ...
I have so much stress during the day I NEED games like this.
flower looks really pretty but im not convinced the game part of the game is going to be much fun. i mean flow looked really pretty, after all. hopefully theres a demo tomorrow.
I played the PC version of Flow and didn't really enjoy the game ... I think though I should have given the PS3 version a chance. Playing on a 42 inch plasma with the motion controls instead of mouse/keyboard probaly would be a totally different experience.
Does Flow support 2 players on the same console locally?
Regarding Flower, I'm really hoping for a Rez like experience. The trailers I already find memorizing I can only begin to imagine what it will look like on my big screen along with 5.1 surround sound.
Does Flow support 2 players on the same console locally?
Yes.
Look, guys. flOw is just a pure game playing experience. You get out of it as much as you put in. If you aren't enjoying it, then try playing it in a different way.
there was a downloadable demo if you pre-ordered the game.
but the game itself is on a disc, in the US at least. I've got mine sitting in front of me.
I thought I heard it was both. I might be talking bollocks. It's happened before.
There's a 99% chance that it'll appear on the US PSN tomorrow, since it's already on the PSN in Japan and PAL-land.
Anyway, Patapon 2 will probably show up on the PAL PSN tomorrow guys! I'm pretty excited, I'll probably pick that and Flower up. I'm sick of UMD's, they're big, annoying and drain the battery ridiculously quickly. I wish there were a way of trading all my PSP games in and getting downloadable copies to replace them.

I liked flOw, and unlocked all the creatures... but after you beat it once and unlock everything, there's not much replay value. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it

I prefer my games in a non-digital format. It makes switching games much easier (just swap discs, instead of having to drag files around, which is an issue if you only have a one or two gig memory stick) and it also means that I can re-sell them when I'm done with them.
Downloadable games have their place, but I am not interested in switching over to them fully.
Glad to hear the ps3 is finally getting bomberman. I have a 360 so I could get it on there, but I prefer the ps3's drm policies and don't need to pay for live to play them online.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.
Hey, has anyone checked out the demo for Phantasy Star Portable? It includes CH 1 of the Story mode, basically the tutorial, and 3 free missions in multimode. It says that you can carry over your save file to the retail release.
I've made a Beast Ranger and got up to the demo's level cap. I'm pretty stoked for this game, it is basically a portable PSU but with PSO style weapon drops (there is no annoying synthing). I've told my friends about it, and from other websites it looks like there will be a dedicated albeit smallish community of people willing to ad hoc tunnel through the PC or PS3.

Surprisingly, this is why I'd prefer games to go digital. I've been kinda stupid in the past about selling games that I wanted to play at a later date and/or it became rare.

I downloaded it, but never got around to playing it. Will it have a lot of singleplayer content, or is it mostly geared towards online play?
I've been kinda stupid in the past about selling games that I wanted to play at a later date and/or it became rare.
Its been my experience that 90% of the time I have seller's remorse, the average price of the game is less than what I sold it for, to the point where it makes up for the other 10% of the time where the game actually went up in value.
It does annoy me when I feel like I made a mistake spending money on a digital download. All I can do is delete it. But digital distribution made it cheap and easy to play Rez and Ikaruga, so overall, I am in favor of it.

All I'm saying is that you have absolutely zero taste.
