alright so i topped out at #2 on the online versus leaderboard for critter crunch tonight. i think i can safely say that this is the highest i will ever be on any leaderboard for any game.
Guys, i just went on to the european PSP store, and Prinny is now available. How much does it cost?
39.99 MOTHERFUCKING EUROS that's almost 60 of your American Dolla.
WTF.
Anyone know if i can order it direct from Rosenqueen to europe? I bought merch from them, but dunno if they're stiffed by Sony's retarded 'not allowed to sell games in other regions, fuck Lik-Sang' bullshit...
If it's an ordinary online shop, Sony has nothing to do with whether or not they'll ship to Europe. If they do, you can buy it. If they don't, that's their internal policy, not Sony's.
On a different note, anyone have any idea when the UK PSN cards will actually be released? There's a fairly large number of songs from the UK PSN store that my wife and I want to get for SingStar that aren't available at all in the US, and there's been no way to do so thus far without an actual UK-based credit card.
Sorry for the double post, but I forgot to reply to this earlier. You need to be very sure that a DLC from one region will work with a game bought in another region.
Games are region free, but DLC material isn't always, and may require a specific game version to work. That information is usually included when you view the details of the DLC in the PSN store, but double check just in case.
If it doesn't look like it'll be a problem, buy a single song first and make sure it works anyway, don't pay for a bunch before you're sure.
Sony has nothing to do with whether or not they'll ship to Europe.
Wrong. Sony has sued and harrassed online stores time and again for shipping to Europe. Lik-Sang, even though they were commiting no crime, were strung along in court for so long that they went out of business simply trying to defend themselves. Because of Sony's complete dickishness in this matter, many stores will not ship Sony stuff to Europe, especially hardware. Those that do, do not draw attention to it.
I can go to Amazon, or CDuniverse, or whatever right now and order games to Europe without any problems. Sony can't and won't do anything about that.
I suspect the specific case with Liksang had to do with them importing and selling games from several regions as a middle man. parallel importing, or something similar, which companies have had problems with in the past.
It was made illegal in Denmark years and years ago with video games, for example. That was back in the Snes era, or just thereafter.
But running a basic webshop and shipping videogames to any given region from your own region? Like an American company shipping region 1 games to Europe? Not a problem, and not something they do quietly, or are afraid to draw attention to. If a store that has nothing to fear decides not to ship to Europe, or whatnot, that's really their problem - or a business decision that they feel makes sense, for whatever reason.
Shipping hardware certainly has absolutely nothing to do with Sony, that's an entirely different concern - a lot of places that do ship software (such as British based shops that ship software to the rest of Europe, eg Play.com) will not ship hardware. That's not because they're afraid of [strike]the big bad wolf[/strike] Sony.
Ah, i see, i see. The situation is a little clearer now. So what's the situation with guys like Play-Asia? Is it the same as Lik-Sang had, parallel importing, so that's why they don't supply PSP games to Euroland?

Sony went after Lik-Sang because they were exporting PSP's to Europe, specifically claiming that Lik-Sang "infringed its trade marks, copyright and registered design rights by selling Sony PSP consoles from Asia to European customers". And got a favorable ruling from an English High Court saying that it was illegal for Lik-Sang to sell Japanese PSPs to customers in Europe.
Play-Asia decided not to chance it and just stopped exporting Sony stuff alltogether. Stores like Video Games Plus still sell Sony games overseas, including PSP.

I'm not too worried seeing as my copies of SingStar Vol 2 and SingStar Vol 3 are both imported UK editions :P
I'd also be tied to buying an entire card either way since I can't buy a song any other way. I suppose I can be extra careful though and only buy 1 song initially once I do have a card. I'm still fairly certain everything will be fine once there's an actual viable payment method for me to use in the UK store though.
The funny thing about the Lik-Sang thing is that you can mod the region of any PSP easily enough with CFW. It's just an internal setting.
And the fact that they're all region free except for UMD movies which no one cares about.
Hey all. Not sure if this would be something people are interested in so I thought this thread would be a good place to ask.
Would you guys be opposed to/even use a thread that had a list of everyones PSN name and games they would like to play on multiplayer? It could also list if they have a headset or not.
I just got a PS3 and it's kind of difficult finding games with people who aren't high/asshats/weird.
I know this thread gives out some PSN handles but it doesn't mention any specific games that are played.
it'd be bordering on a megathread, which is against the the rules. if you really think it's needed and that you could organize it in a way that wouldn't promote too much generic chatter, talk to a mod
just made it to the end of critter crunch's adventure mode, with all the bonus puzzles and challenges cleared. god there are some buggerishly difficult parts

I think it was more that the PSP was about a 3rd of the price to import at the time, and out a lot earlier, meaning Sony Europe couldn't hold everyone to ransom over prices. Now I think about it, my first black PSP was American, & so was the 2nd one I got. My white 1.5 Phat is Japanese, and so is my Deep Red 2000. Oh well, screw Sony Europe, they're the worst Sony anyway.
adventure level 40 is insanely difficult. the other really hard level was a challenge where you have to get something like 8 food chains in a very short amount of time... the challenges actually get a lot easier toward the end, because you're just saving hatchlings which is really easy when you've got the trick down
probably one of the most satisfying things about this game is when you've got a massive stage full of crazy shit and you hit a good combo and all of a sudden everything's popping beautifully and an unsuspecting sprite-based game actually manages to slow the ps3 down
Yeah, I bought it back when I grabbed my PS3 nearly 2 years ago, because it was pretty much one of the only PSN games available. Money wasted. It was fun for about 10 minutes.
I found it brilliantly relaxing and not at all difficult to control. Sure it's all motion controlled but it's not complex and it's nice and smooth. I'd highly recommend it, keep in mind it's not too long though.
nevermind the gameplay, the way it implicitly presented narrative was pretty much revolutionary for interactive entertainment. i found it immensely enjoyable and surprising
it's not necessarily a 'wonderful story'; it's a fairly simple story about being conscious of the way the structures we create impede on the natural environment. and it's not so much the story itself that was unique but the craft that was used in telling it; no dialogue, no language other than visual cues and musical tone-setting, driven by emotion cleverly conveyed in a way that was inherently tied with gameplay elements - from joyous soaring to quiet, dark introspect to terrifying dominance.
i've never experienced anything like it in a videogame

also i appear to have lost some hours worth of levels in online versus somehow, which is making me sad.

yeah i'm still working on the 100 puzzles. i've already lost another half a day to them.
but yeah, the only thing i've got left in adventure mode is to get rainbow spew on all the levels, which is pretty much going to be impossible.

What do I buy?
I think I might get burn Zombie Burn and Pain. But I kinda like the idea of Flower, and of course the MvC2 and Fat Princess to think about
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
What I can recommend is Shatter. It is awesome and it's $7, which leaves you with a nice cool even $15 to buy one of those...other games.
I liked Flower. Reminds me of Katamari or de Blob, but with a different vibe than either one.

Though man, its sooooo pretty.
Pixeljunk Eden is great too.

I would say it's artsy bullshit in video game form, and the control makes it more frustrating than relaxing.

I've never seen a good use of motion control, ever. Flower being a game entirely based around it...ugh.
let me tell you about ninja gaiden sigma 2
Fuck.
well in terms of purely visual storytelling i found it revolutionary. what would you say preceeded it?
This should be entertaining.
