that's actually what surprised me most about the game; in a simple contextual touch that was purely portrayed in the framing of the actual gameplay (the menu), we saw that it's okay to live in an urbanised way. it wasn't a fervorous greeny rant, it was a gentle musing on what life would be like if we all had flowers on our windowsills, which made it unique and compelling.
as a person who's studied storytelling very closely for many years, i felt that flower did a hell of a lot right and is one of the best cases for games-as-art you could present
Tell me bsjezz, what wonderful story did you gather from Flower?
This should be entertaining.
You insulted Critter Crunch a couple of pages ago, I don't think you're in any position to judge any game.
As far as Flower goes, I completely agree with bsjezz. Just because it doesn't have the typical videogame story, doesn't suddenly mean its story is terrible. Flower evoked emotions I'd never felt playing a videogame and did so entirely using the gameplay and setting. So yeah, I'd say its storytelling is fantastic.
I played Flower through to completion, which is really rare for me nowadays. The last stage where:
you fly down the road and everything in front of you becomes beautiful and coloured
was awesome and they mixed up the mechanics enough to keep things interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it very relaxing. I need to go through it again at some point.
I have absolutely no reservations in recommending Flower. Its a wonderful experience and one that I've come back to in the months after its purchase.
It also made me retroactively purchase Flow for the PSP, which, while not as visually stunning, is still very pleasant to play in a dark room with headphones

So hey, a couple more sales.
Some new (old) PSP games up there, and a few new PSN games.
That Mushroom Wars reminds me of a flash game that was really fun and addictive, but I can't recall the name of it. Seems like it would be called Infection or something; you had cells that made your disease, and then you had to send out parts of it to take over other parts, but they constantly regenerated, as did the other 'teams'. It probably ate a few hours of my life. I don't know if Mushroom Wars works the same way, but it certainly reminds me of it.

Actually, Pain goes from horribly boring single player physics toy, to super awesome competetive LOLfest.
Just add one or two friends and a case of your favorite beer.
It really destroys the controllers though.
Haven't tried Pain, but this reminds me of how much people ripped Rag Doll Kung Fu back when it was downloadable for free. I snagged it at the time but never played it thanks to the horrible word of mouth. Then a couple months ago I was looking for a little filler with friends over before firing up Rock Band for the rest of the night, so we have RDKF a chance - it has since become one of the most popular games for multi-player drunken gaming that I have. Just crazy, silly fun when everyone has had a few - it's even entertaining to watch other people playing when you have 4 player ffas, which is huge.

Horrid single player though.
Yeah, the reason why I don't like Rag Doll Kung Fu is because of the single-player. I don't really have anyone else here to multiplayer with, and since it's local only, that means I'm stuck with the single player. Which sucks. Horribly. I can't believe I got silver on all the challenges.
Does Quest for Booty feature any cross-transferring from Tools of Destruction? I lost my save data from the wipe, but if it has no impact on QfB, then I might just jump right in.
Does Quest for Booty feature any cross-transferring from Tools of Destruction? I lost my save data from the wipe, but if it has no impact on QfB, then I might just jump right in.
Is there any word how long that price will last?
Nope, none. I'm still waiting to hear if you can transfer a ToD or QfB save into Crack in Time but I'm guessing the silence indicates that you can't. It's good news for me, I lost my saves a few months back too.
Price reductions generally last one week.
Anyway, I'd highly recommend SOCOM: Tactical Strike to anyone with a PSP. It's a bit like the Full Spectrum Warrior games last generation, you don't have direct control over them but give them orders to do things. Sometimes it can be a little frustrating to get them to do what you want but there are moments when your tactics pay off and are super fun.

Good to hear. So how long is QfB, roughly? Are trophies included?
I know I should try it out before CiT, since I might miss some of the story, but it's pretty important that $10 justifies a decent length.
QFB is totally worth it at the lower price. When I got it I was a little dissapointed at the length, but damn if the writing and gameplay take away that dissapointment. I almost wish those pirates would get their own show.
So I guess you have to have your PSP plugged in to your PC to download games to it using Media Go?
That's awesome, I wish Media Go would have told me that before I sat through a fucking retardedly long download process only to get an error message at the end and now have to redownload the game.
Instead of, oh I don't know, just letting me download it to my hard drive and letting me transfer it from there.
I mean, this might be crazy, but I was sorta thinking I could play the PSP while I download more games for it. Silly me.

People were complaining about this a while ago, and I assume it's one of their methods of trying to stop piracy on games downloaded via PSN. PS3 lets you download and install a PSP game to it's HDD and transfer it.
I thought the anti piracy measures were that the games were locked to your account? It doesn't make sense anyway, since a pirate would be more likely to just hit whatever bit torrent tracker they prefer as opposed to PSN, since the selection is much better, and I would not be surprised if the download speeds were better as well.
So Guilty Gear is awesome, by the way. I'm a thinker and I like thinking games, but damn sometimes I just want to beat the shit out of a bunch of lizard mutants and bats and mannequins with guitars wailing in the background.

No trophies, and you can probably get through it in 5 hours. It's really fun though and I think it was worth a purchase at $15.
I jumped on it because I thought it did have trophies. But apparently "Age of Booty" and "Quest for Booty" are not the same thing :P I liked Tools of Destruction, and this is just as fun. Definitely worth $10, but why can't they release a damn trophy patch for ToD and QfB... I'll replay both of them over and over to Platinum.

They can, but they've said in interviews that they won't, for ToD, QfB or the original Resistance.
What? Why not?
Because they don't have to, and would rather work on their new games.
Trophies are really that hard to program? I mean ToD already has a list of things to unlock. How hard would it be patch in "unlocked this item = unlock this trophy". Seems dumb to me, only because I know there are people out there (like me) who are willing to pick up a game for trophies. (especially if they are already good games to start off with) If a simple trophy patch got them a few extra sales? Then why not pull a few guys to do some OT and get it done and make us all happy
